pointertovoid Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The latest DirectX that installs on W2k is, officially as well as naturally, v9.0c.Though, some users succeeded in installing more recent dX versions on Win Xp.Has this been done on W2k?
blackwingcat Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) Hi, pointertovoid.DX9.0c supported Lastest version for Windows 2000 is 2010 Feb version If you use msvcrt.dll version is 7.x and above,(ex. erpdude8 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Hi, pointertovoid.DX9.0c supported Lastest version for Windows 2000 is 2010 Feb version If you use msvcrt.dll version is 7.x and above,(ex. I've recently tested the June 2010 DX pack under Win2000 and its setup program works.
Lenny_Nero Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I am getting the June 2010 versions ATM, because I have a box that needs some new hardware and I will try this version on its Win 2k install when I have finished and report back here.
Crash&Burn Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Well a couple issues for directx_jun2010_redist.exe under Win2K, 1) The included binaries, DXSETUP.EXE and dxdllreg.exe will not run (at all). And Compared to previous directx_mmmYYYY_redist's, the one from June is missing files:2) BDANT.cab, BDAXP.cab, dxnt.cabIt may be possible to primarily use the february redist, and add in the jun2010 cab files into a HFSLIP disk.
Lenny_Nero Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) Yep, I have to add that C&B is correct, with...1) The included binaries, DXSETUP.EXE and dxdllreg.exe will not run (at all). Just give "not valid win32 apps" errI have not checked the files, I just went with the Feb version erpdude8 posted the link for above. That said the Feb version is 106 Mb against the June versions 97 Mb ? pointertovoid Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 If I got the story properly:- dX9.0c core hasn't changed for years. Each version installs exactly the same. Only security updates change these files.- What changes is the added layer of Managed DirectX, useful only if an application uses this layer.I meant instead dX10 or dX11 on W2k, which are officially not compatible.Anyway, some dX10 cards do have W2k drivers (official ones up to Gtx295 for instance), and then the applications that use OpenGL should get from the driver the functions that dX10 would have brought.
