Hey everyone, About 7 years ago I build my first computer, after about 2 years the harddisk crashed (at least, thats what I thought what happend) because I couldn't access my data anymore. I put the harddisk away and thought that some day when SATA disks are oldfashioned it would be really cheap to take it to a recovery-guy who could get some data off of it. When I yesterday went trough my old closet I came across my old Segate Barracuda HDD and after some Googling I quickly found out that there might be a way to recover my data, that how I ended up here. My harddisk: Seagate barracuda 7200.11 500 Gbytes S/N: 9QM8S37L ST3500320AS P/N: 9BX154-303 Firmware: SD15 Date code: 09192 Site code: kRATSG WWN: 5000C500108C22C7 Symptoms: In BIOS it says: "not detected". When I put my other HDD in it says: "WDC WD1002FAEX-002". It takes a long time to come past the first screen which just says "express gate" (which is the software that my motherboard uses) Sound: it seems to spin normally, after the first 2 seconds I hear a small crackling noise but thats it, it spins steady. Diagnosis Is this a problem that can be solved by the 'fix' that I can find on several sites? What to do now? I found this website: https://sites.google.com/site/seagatefix/ and I would like to know if this is the right fix. My dad is quite handy with small electronics so I'm going to let him handle this. I also found some youtube video's online.
