  1. Tested on version 4.1.1.5009956 Baldur's Gate 3 is a game that is oficially supported by it's developers only on Windows 10. There are both Steram and GOG versions available, but I would advise against buying it on Steam since the steam client may stop working on Windows 7 at any time, while GOG game releases are DRM-free and have offline installers available so you aren't going to lose the ability to play. This game comes is two variants bg3.exe (Vulkan based) and bg3_dx11.exe (DirextX 11 based). You probably want to be using the Vulkan version as dx11 one has a broken map (and minimap) To run the Vulkan version you need a pretty recent video driver: Nvidia: for example version 471 will be fine AMD: not tested On Windows 8.0 and Windows 8.1 the game works out of the box and you just have to launch bg3.exe in the bin directory (don't even bother with a crappy Larian launcher) On Windows 7 you have to follow these steps: 1. Download CFF Explorer (part of Explorer Suite) 2. Find bg3.exe and open it in CFF Explorer 3. On the left panel go to Import Directory then find kernel32 under module name 4. Replace a function called GetOverlappedResultEx with GetOverlappedResult (just rename) 5. Save the file as bg3_win7.exe or whatever 6. When launching the game's exe always hold the Shift key 7. Congratulations. The game should now work on Windows 7. Keep in mind tho that replacing functions is a dumb and dirty trick and GetOverlappedResultEx =/= GetOverlappedResult, which may lead to some occasional bugs. I haven't done any deeper testing
  2. i got a Server and need to Install Win2K3 x64 on it, it is in RAID so i have to Slipstream some Drivers to make it work. When i select the Folder of the 2K3 Location it already goes : "nLite.exe has Experienced an Error and needs to be Closed." i put the Window Aside and Continue what im Doing. I go all the was until the Making the Installation Part, and in there it goes almost complete at Finalizing but it just Stops. I tried this in a Windows XP Pro vm and Windows 7 Pro Vm, with the Same Issues.
  3. Hello! About 2 years using BM AeroGlass on Windows 8, after on Windows 8.1 with license and donation without any problems. Two days ago i installed Stardock WindowFX 6.0 trial version. Works normal at 1st look. But periodically in moment when WindowFX must make some of his effects desktop image freezes for 1-2 second, after display blinks, aeroglass disappears and enables quickly. Looks like the dwm process restarts. No events created, no crashdumps in system folder. Only crashdump in AeroGlass folder appears every time. In debug.log nothing wrong with enabled logging all events in it. I use Windows 8.1 x64 Pro with MC, Russian, license. AMD FX-8320, Radeon R9 270X latest drivers. Soft: StartIsBack+, UxTheme Signature Bypassing dll by BM, OldNewExplorer. Please help me. P.S. Sorry for my english... Crashdump: http://1drv.ms/1Ogs7QT
  4. I was using AeroGlass for a long time on W8. After migrating (trough the store) to W81, AG no longer worked (specific message that I have forgotten). After reinstalling the 8.1 version of AG, it was apparently operating (glass border), but error windows indicating "This library can be injected into DWM process only" started to show up regularly. On the next shutdow, there was a system crash ; system reboot to W81 required to revert to a previous restauration point. After looking around, my problem was related to the fact that the old method (W8 one; through the "AppInit_DLLs" registry key) for registering AG was steel in place, conflicting with the W81 one (through task scheduling I suppose). Solution in my case was to remove "by hand" the DWMGlass.dll from the "AppInit_DLLs" entry (not removing the key, because there was other DLL registered). After reinstalling AG, all went fine. I performed a bit of tweaking with AeroGlassGUI, and retrieved my Glass look for a while. The appropriate solution to avoid this problem would probably be to deinstall AG under W8 before migrating, and installing it again after migration to W81 (W10). Hoping this post will help some guys in the same situation. I suppose the same problem may occurs when migrating from W8 to W10. Thanks again for BigMuscle for this great piece of code (not obvious job since it is windows system programming).
  5. Hello there! To introduce myself, I am an IT Manager in a charity in Canada. Recently, we purchased computers. As part of the setup, I have installed Windows 8.1 on them with the sole exception of mine which runs Windows 8. Since then, I have received complains that explorer was crashing at random which makes the opened folders and taskbar disappear and then reappear. The exact same behavior happens on my Win 8 machine. On my machine, I have updated the Intel Graphics drivers minutes before the latest crash. After some research, I have been able to collect a crash dump but I'm not able to make sense of it in Windbg. Can one kind soul help me decipher the dmp file? You can find the file here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f16qq7gw4ocxcgl/explorer.exe.243660.dmp?dl=0 Thank you!!
  6. Hi, I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Very often Aero Glass generates a minidump-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.dmp file in its directory. I believe this is generated when Aero Glass crashes. Normally this happens when I start up the computer. Any idea why?
  7. Hi! I found a while ago an old NT4 cd. Now I'm trying to install it on my main pc, but the installation program crashes without bsod immediately after loading all the stuff to memory and then reboots. Some specs: CPU - Intel I5 3570k, Mobo - some Asus p8z77 with UEFI bios 8GB or 4GB of ram (neither works) USB mouse & keyboard Same results with another 3rd gen I5 pc with Gigabyte mobo and 8 gigs of ram Does anyone have idea of what might cause this? Thanks -Jalmari
  8. Yesterday, midway through a skype call, skype suddenly stopped working, so I tried to reopen it. My computer screen then went black to be followed by a blue screen with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION at the top. I have read numerous posts about this with no set solution, so here is a link to the dump file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8IfJMTnm6ShcmtjUGJ5SDJIbDQ/edit?usp=sharing I uninstalled Skype, and I tried to reinstall it. The blue screen came up mid-way the install. This happens every time I try to install it. If anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
