  1. Well, its kinda hard to say. Gmail has a very clever "labeling" system which makes it almost like chat. It allows you to group all your mail into one thread, making it so easy keep track... and other things, unless you are using gmail, and remember, its still at beta, for a web based email service, its awesome.

  2. @ MCT

Hey, go easy on the search dude.......

This must be the 3 thread you've told the poster to "Search" - while the lesson isn't bad, the way of telling it (in a frustrated manner) is !!!!

While it's true that new ppl here seem to forget the Search function, its also possible that they genuinely don't know how to get at what they want.

BTW, shapeless here has asked for a switch for the "BitTornado" client not the official "BitTorrent" client.

Totally agree prathapml! Last I knew, MSFN was all about helping each other! Signs of frustration in replies totally uncalled for. If no "constructive help" is forthcoming, apart from "use search", better to remain silent!

    My 2 cents.... :)

    Ohhh I forgot.....hehehehe

    @shapeless

Dude, I am sure prathapml's suggestion above will work out for you, If not, go to the BitTornado website and send "theshadow" a mail with your question. He is a real nice and friendly guy! He'll point you in the right direction, if he can!

Otherwise, if I catch him online, I'll ask and pass on what he says to you!

  3. here's the winnt.sif u requested, its pretty basic stuff.

i'll try taking out al the extra stuff and use only the failsafe ones, c if that works.

the xp source i used is Windows XP Professional Full Retail version.

Hey take out your CD key number :)

Check your WINNT.SIF against mine attached.....

    WINNT.SIF

    WINNT.SIF

  4. I presume you also used a WINNT.SIF file? And if so, can you attach that please, just maybe the issue lies there. Just saw you log file, you have alot extra there, try taking all of them out and use ONLY the "failsafe" items and see if the problem happens again.

Also, what are you using for your source?

  5. Hi

Place the WINNT.SIF (Make sure it has a SIF extention, NOT WINNT.SIF.TXT or anything like that. Has to be only WINNT.SIF) in FILESCD\I386 only! Do not place elsewhere.

Take out the Drivers for the time being. Check your WMP file, it doesnt seem to be the correct version for WinXP.

You can place the reg files in \FILESCD\$OEM$\, using a cmdlines.txt file. Both the reg file or files and the cmdlines.txt file should be there. See mine and change it to suit your own needs).

We can work on the rest once we get the present issues resolved.

    cmdlines.txt

  6. Line 1 of the INF file \i386\winnt.sif is invalid

Not sure where you are getting the "Line 1 of the INF file". Make sure the WINNT.SIF has the correct file extention.

Also, have a look at my WINNT.SIF (attached), it works fine from \FILESCD\I386\

    Hope this helps...

    WINNT.SIF

  7. Try the following method, perhaps it might resolve your issues!

    1) Make sure your folder option is set to "show hidden files and folders".

    2) Make a folder in C Drive (not in My Documents) called "XPC-SOURCE".

    3) Using Windows Explorer copy ALL source CD contents to above folder on the hard drive.

    4) Create another folder in C Drive called WINXP-XPC, where you have to extract the XPCREATE Files (Make sure you have the latest version).

    5) Make sure all the hotties etc are in appropriate folders in the WINXP-XPC folder.

    6) Change the xpcreate.ini file to :-

    [XPCREATE]
    XPSOURCE=C:\WINXP-SOURCEBOOTIMGFILE=BOOT\XPCTBOOT.BINXPISO=WXPCREATE.ISOCDERASE=NOCDSPEED=MAXCDBURNER=D:
Change drive letter to your CD-RW, if planning to burn a CD in one go (Place DISK in Drive). Otherwise you would find the ISO file created in "WINXP-XPC" folder.

    7) Run "XPCREATE.CMD".

    8) Make sure you have a programme to delect ISO files, like WinISO or UltraISO, otherwise you just might miss it.

    9) Then you can burn the ISO file using Nero or whatever burning software you have.

    10) Test it on MS Virtual PC or VMware if needed.

This works well for me, never had any issues you guys describe.

Hope this helps some.... and excuse me if I stated the obvious above, but sometimes it the very simple things that get overlooked! :)

  8. Please see below for DIR structure used to create a CD which included the latest April hotties and updates. Folders not included being empty -

The resulting CD installed on MS Virtual PC without any issues.

After running MS Update, the following items showed as required -

Advanced Networking Pack for Windows XP KB817778   Q327405: Recommended Update (HU1002_PRO.EXE)Windows Messenger 4.7

The above were not included in the setup by choice. I see no reasons why they cannot be added if you so wish!

    Hope this helps some.

  9. how would you do that?

    multiple OemPnPDriversPath's? and like this?

    $OEM$\drivers\sata\si

    $OEM$\drivers\sata\intel

Exactly, and just make the proper modifications in the winnt.sif file at the OemPnPDriversPath

    Blyster

Excuse my ignorance, but new to this SATA thingie :)!

    I have the following -

    $OEM$\$1\DRIVERS\SATA [drivers placed here]

    Please note the $1

    In WINNT.SIF I put the following -

    OemPnPDriversPath="DRIVERS\SATA"
    DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore

I tested this on MS Virtual PC, so I guess I wont get any confirmation if the intergration was sucessful or not. Is there a way to verify this, without actually doing a "live" test. Any clarification would be most helpful!

    Thanks in advance.

  10. This update changes the behavior of the Shop for music online link in the My Music folder. Previously, clicking this link would launch Internet Explorer. After installing this update, clicking this link will launch the default browser.

This UPDATE (WindowsXP-KB833998-x86-ENU.EXE) can be installed via SVC-HF1. Tested and working!

  11. Hi Jazz

I am not a expert by any means, but I was wondering if you tried to make the CD without the added $OEM$\$1 items, and then test it again. Might give us a better clue to where the issue might be. Just a thought...... but am I sure GM will give you better and more helpful advise!

    :)

  12. @blinkdt

Thanks for the info, but is it possible for you to post some tutorials (with examples on how, where and what) for complete beginners. The help files included in the prog, seems a little confusing. Just a little help in the right direction, would be most appreciated.

    :)

  13. @GreenMachine

I was trying to repackage (iexpress) for silent/unattended install:

    1) WinZIP 8.1 SR1 (registered version).

    2) Diskeeper 8.0 Professional.

    3) IE6 (IEAK customised version)

Which folder would the above repackaged programs (once done) be placed? All of them in "HFTYPE0"?

Where would the new "MSJAVAWU.EXE" be placed? In the JAVANEW I presume, and leave the JAVAOLD empty?

Thanks a million for all your help!

Can you please, also explain a little more in detail, regarding the INF file editing. Thanks!

Would it be possible to have some sort of version number associated with the XPCREATE zip file, so that it would make it clear whether a older version is being used or the latest. Thanks!

I also noticed, that once I do "MakeDir", it still makes the "DOTNETFIX" folder, but not the "ROMSX" folder! Or is it me, just being a "cheese brain" !!! :)

  14. @GM

Once again, a awesome piece of work! Congrats! Love the new green background!

Just a quick question. I noticed that a folder was created "DOTNETFX" in the main dir, although the actual "dotnetfx.exe" is placed in "HFMSX". I was wondering why or did I miss something?

Other thing being, the iexpress IE6 package. What switches were to be used for the packaging, so as it might be placed in "HFTYPEO" ?

Also, a little confused on the MSJava New/Old thing. Can you be a little more specific on the file names concerned. I think I know what you mean, but better to be sure

    Many thanks in advance!!!! :)

  15. Did someone wake me?

Sorry, stimpee and shareef59, I'm finishing off a major update that will answer most of the outstanding issues. Please chack back tonight. Sorry for the delay.

    Thanks

    @GreenMachine

Am I to understand, a new release of XPCREATE is imminent??

Was about to do a CD for a friend, I will wait until you update!

Keep up the awesome scripting work!!!!

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

  16. @GreenMachine

Thank you much for your advice and suggestions. The reason I wanted to install IE Install that way (ie IEAK version) was more for cosmetic reasons, rather than anything else. I will try out your methods and see which suits me best.

On another matter, your page which give the details about your script etc, contains a link to "Current Hotfixes and Updates". It seems some of the d/l links are not available any more and I was wondering if that was on purpose or whether there were reasons behind it.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, as I consider myself to be techinally challenged and thus a "newbie" on these matters.

Thanks again for your help and your wonderful script, along with the massive contribution you make to the MSFN Forums.

  17. @GreenMachine

Thanks for your previous advise, has been very helpful. Other question being, if IE6sp1 was created using IEAK, would that need to be repackaged (iexpress) and then placed in ROEXE folder? Little clarification and advise on this matter would be much appreciated!

If this has been answered previously, I apologize for asking!

    Thanks in advance.

    :)
