  1. I used the method from this link Install drivers from CD

The problem is that the drivers are not installing. I made the test after the unattended setup was completed by installing the network driver manually from the install dvd. He found the driver. So it would say that the installation of the drivers is not working 100%

    The drivers like this below;

    000_chipset

    001_network

    002_graphics

    003_tv_out

    004_sound

    005_monitor

    ...

are put under d:\Drivers and also under d:\$OEM$\$1\Drivers to have much chance that it installs.

Can't find a good method to install the drivers. I want something where I can update the drivers manually in a folder because we have almost only IBM machines and they have horrible drivers.

    Thanks

  2. During my unattented setup I've got always this screen that appears. Can't see in my winnt.sif where it blocks

  3. I used this tool in the past and it works great! But I was wondering if a tool exists to just give a computername, computer owner and domain to join. The creation of a user is not needed where it's a domain user that logs in.

    We have different domains.

    Thanks for your support!

  4. HI all,

I'm working on an unattented dvd with drivers integrated in the image and afterwards deploying this with Ghost or something else. (ideas are welcome)

My problem is that I don't have a really 100% working method. That's why I made this post (and usefull for everybody)

    My needs are:

    1. A DVD with all drivers integrated and upgradeable by changing the content of the 'Driver' folder.
      answer: ???
    2. And XML file or another file that I can 'feed' with my needs for future program installations.
Kelsenellenelvian answer: WPI is made for that same thing right there. Plus its very easy to add to a disk and configure...
    3. In the file I can install program from a network drive.
Kelsenellenelvian answer: WPI is made for that same thing right there. Plus its very easy to add to a disk and configure...
    4. Based on the type of user (finance, human resources, development,...) a list of programs can be installed.
Kelsenellenelvian answer: WPI is made for that same thing right there. Plus its very easy to add to a disk and configure...
    5. During setup a screen appears where I have to put the name of the computer and the domain where the machine will be in.
Benners answer: For question #5 look here @ cancerface's excellent user creation tool

Is this possible? I already made an image and everything worked. The method that I've used is as follows; nlite WinXP SP2, created $OEM$ and put some programs in like Adobe reader 8.01 and .net 2.0, then with bashrat drivers base installation of drivers, and registry keys and a cleanup file. This is very basic but maybe I can use this knowledge by achieving the thing that want from above.

  7. Hi there,

I would like to make a sort of XP installation CD/DVD for my business in order to put the media in the dvd-reader and just install winxp with everything on it. (almost everything :P )

The client doesn't have to choose which application to install (that's my job). So no such things as choosing applications in a menu. The only is that I've got multiple domains so I have to choose a domain and a computername before/during installation.

I'd like also to update the CD/DVD as applications could change from version  and passwords also

So my question would be; What method/technique can I use to do this? We don't use RIS but SMS 2003 for further application installs but if I can I put most of the applications in the image.

And I also would use the image through BDD if possible to deploy it (in the future if possible)

    Simple question: If I make an unattended xp cd can I use my WinXP SP2 already integrated or do I have to make an XP with SP2 integrated for that? :}

  8. Then, my question is: Do you have to be able to remotely launch the actual reinstall of the clients or is it more important

to be able to deploy the installation method? For example, is it oki to have the end users boot their machines and then press F12?

If u must be able to deploy machines without being physical at the machine, then I guess ZTI/SMS 2003 with OSD! If this is not a criteria,

then the easiest way to do it is to write a little .vbs which will do it for you (outlined below):

To answer your question, we consider the client being a total noob (almost a zombie) that can't do anything. Yes it exists :P So we have to do everything for them. Meaning also that we must not be (or not much) in front of the pc.

  9. Thanks to you guys for the quick responses :thumbup but I've got some clarification to do.

I've got around 200 servers (all Win2003). These servers are from several entreprises. But all makes part of a big VPN. So there are entreprises who've got 34MB lines and others who've got 2MB lines.

My goal in the future (with WinXP clients no Vista yet) to install WinXP on 10 or 100 clients after production time (at night).

So I'm looking for a good and reliant system to do this. I'm using the ghost solution for about 40% of the method used today. I can't say that it doesn't work but when I read things on msfn I can see that there is another simpler world beyond ghost :D

Every single entreprise has his politics about the use of a pc and I'm dealing with a WinXP OS that has to be in Dutch for 1, French for another and German for another in the future. The general WinXP must be English for most of them.

I hope you see clear now in the thing I'm now

  10. I was wondering which technique of ZTI (Zero Touch Installation) each one of you were using. I mean from A to Z, from the pc taking ou of the box to the user that puts his account and password.

The thing that I wanted to do is getting a simpler method than the one we are using for now. This is my method. Putting pc on the shelf, connect vga, mouse and keyboard and network cable. Creating Ghost sessions for the number of pc's to ghost. Putting a Ghost cd to boot (8.2). After that installation of windows through Ghost and after that sysprep with integration to the domain. When pc is done he's ready for delivery to client. With the installation the SMS 2003 client is installed. When this is al done, I'm putting all the necessary software with SMS 2003.

I just know that there is a simplified version of mine but can someone show me the way. Could be more than one method.

  11. Hi there

I'm pleased to see that there's a new version out there that I will surely test ;-)))

I found a screenshot of SafeXP with options on it that you can add or delete in a future build?

    safeXPscr.gif

You can do whatever you want with my idea. I just hoped to contributed to something :-)

  12. Why reinstall?

    I'm going to re-explain :)

I want to make an unattended winxp pro. A Zero touch installation cd.

Before I install all cab files that contains the program I have to create a tree in the future Start Menu with nLite

A tree that will look like in the picture. Every program which can burn cd's will be in 'Burning', every game will be in 'Games', every network program will be in 'Network'.

So my question is simple. Is it possible to make such a thing or not with nLite?

  13. This is what looks like my Start Menu

    back7sz.jpg

Every program I install is no in the C drive but on the D:\Program Files

And almost every program will be in the Start Menu that I created. For example Nero will be in Burning.

How to do that? Is it possible with nLite? I'm using the latest version
