  1. great topic, i'm on this group too that doesnt trust microsoft with its updates :)

    the best Windows Protection i think it is

    Win2000(i removed IE totaly)/Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.6/Firefox(with NoScript)

    with sygate, i just block all windows services for using the network, the only allowed app's are Firefox, MSN and so on

    ps, there's is a great feature that i love on sygate, its called DLL Authentication, it searches for new files that are loaded from a programm that is already running, it knows the difference of the application in a before/after way, it even detects if you install the Flash Player on Firefox (example), and it asks you if you want to give the app access on the Net, some users hate this Pop Up, but i think its the best thing that happened in my computer life :)

    CONCLUSION......BELIEVE IS GOOD, CONTROL IS BETTER

  2. I just wanted to ask in a flashy way if theres a difference between 2003 SP2 and 2003 R2 SP2, i know R2 isnt a Service Pack, but as long as i know it has some core level modifications, so installing SP2 on a SP1 machine would it upgrade it to R2?

    Regards.

  3. Windows 2000 SP4 Pro Select Edition (no updates)

    IE Removed

    WMP Removed

    Explorer Removed

    to bad i had to migrate on XP for some "audio" reasons, 2k worked perfect, never crashed, defenitely the best OS micro$oft ever worked out

  4. 1st of all i would like just to say some things about alternate software, im no the best fan of MS products, so i started to search for alternate programs that run on Windows (mostly Open Source software, like 7zip etc etc)

    i would like to ask you guys for help if theres any DHCP Client software that manages the whole DHCP Service, im having heavy problems with the DHCP service in windows, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew crash my computer sometimes.

    I Saw some handy progs for Linux for DHCP just for what im looking for, and i came to the idea to ask about it, google didnt help.

    thnx.

  5. Inofficially i would like to ask the MSFN Team/Crew for a favour, to report this BUG on Microsoft/Windows, on my past i tryed to contact them in any ways for bugs but no sing of answering and hell no sign of fixing

    btw, if anyone could help me microsoftless here i would really appriciate that, this is what the Windows FLP INFImporter Command Line Utility edits in the file (driverinstall.xml)

    Regards, KinetiK.

  6. 1st of all, sorry guys for opening the same topic again, this time its not just only a help request, now i found out that Microsoft did something wrong (or it could be me, who knows...)

    1st, i tryed to intergrate some VIA RAID drivers on Windows FLP, what i got was the blue screen of death

    2nd, i tryed in on the Windows FLP Manual, the documentation is of course on the CD, no chance, the OS installs, it finds the drives, but when it tryes to boot at the 1st time, i get the blue screen of death with the message that theres a fatal error on A driver

    3rd, i tryed to install Windows FLP normaly via a diskette by pressing F6, all good, after the install, BSOD...

    NOW...i came to the idea that i have a 6GB IDE Hard Drive somewhere at home, i installed Windows FLP on it, 1st no sign of the RAID/SATA Drives, of course, there wasnt any intergrated driver just like all other windowses, i installed the raid drivers from the 6GB drive where FLP is installed inside, it took just a reboot to catch them, want facts, here they are...

    Screenshot

    btw, here are the Official FLP Tools for unnatended help

    Windows FLP Unattended Generator Utility

    Windows FLP INFImporter Command Line Utility

    now some facts, FLP seems to install its boot.ini on the 1st drive, unfortunatly thats always and IDE drive, but it shouldnt be hard to copy them on the drive you want and just edit them (it, boot.ini)

    the other fact, if ur trying to install Windows FLP, wile on the other side u have a NT based system (2000/XP/2003), u will learn a great bug from windows

    your desktop wont show the files you have on the dir C:\Docs & Sets\USER\Desktop\, it shows the files of C:\, yes its strange to see WINDOWS, PROGRAM FILES and all other stuff in that dir on ur desktop, i tryed to solve the problem, but only the repair helped me, but i totaly forgot that i could be a REG settings, i mean, the desktop shows a Directory, and i think it can be edited easily.

    thats it actualy, sorry for my wack typing and wack english, i was/am in hurry, ill check here later.

    Regards, KinetiK.

  7. KinetiK, could you please tell me where you add the unattended.xml file on the CD does setup grab it automatically or does it need to be added from cmd line.

    Thanks

    its quite simple, but if u read te WinFLP Installation Guide.chm, jokin

    all the files that u have to add should be placed in \\Setup\

    PreSetup.cmd, Unattended.xml, driverinstall.xml, unattended.reg

    when SetupLauncher starts, it searchs 1st for PreSetup.cmd to load it before setup.exe, if it doesnt find it, it starts Normaly :), theres even a PostSetup, to install software silently (i think), its after the Setup finishes

    its quite simple

    ps, i tryed to intergrate the RAID drivers, they didnt work (the drinverintall.xml whas loaded) i think i have to agree that the driver iosnt comaptible, its just not the same XP :)

  8. i just tested it, great great piece of tool, i got the WinFLP INF Importer too, i intergrated the SATA/RAID drivers that i had problems a month ago...at the moment the only problem that i have is the DiskConfig Lines on the Unattended.xml file, i have no idea how to config it so it can ask me what i want to do (in a way, i want it Attended, just for Partioning)

    <DiskConfig>
    <Disk ID="0" WipeDisk="Yes">
    <CreatePartition Size="*" Label="*" Letter="C" FileSystem="NTFS" AllocationUnit="*" QuickFormat="No" FileCompression="No" />
    </Disk>
    </DiskConfig>

    ps, i like the new M$ Strategy...things are moving, fast and BETTER

  9. It appears that this version is severely limited.
    In addition, it allows for a limited number of workloads to be executed locally, including security software, management software, terminal emulation software, document viewers, and the .NET Framework.
    In other words, there's a limit to the number of processes that can be running.

    I would rather install 98se.

    i have to say, i didnt have that "problem" (we can freely call it problem), even if its there, i dont think that its hardcoded, it can be tweaked, but personaly i didnt realise it, i configure windows for my own taste (standard after the boot there are just 9 processes) asllong as i remember i had alot of software running (audip producer) and nothing stopped me, for the moment, i think its the best OS M$ ever released.

  10. 1st of all, thnx to all of you guys,you really helped me out, all the steps worked but it looks like that this OS doesn't SUPPORT RAID from the core (typical M$, they do what they want)

    i burned more then 10 cd-s just to TRY it, the last one was perfect but when it started to install it just restarted my computer...so 1st i thought maybe the driver isnt compatible with this XP, but a BSOD would answer me that and i didnt have one...all i can do is stick to W2k and wait for nLite support or any CODEHACK on the internet

    again, thnx alot guys :).

  11. thnx mate, i did all the stuff what you explain there

    now just one thing, is there any need for WINNT.SIF, if yes then...do i need to create on cause i cant find it anywhere on the XPCD?

    :hello:

  12. so the codes dont play a big role, they just need to be UNIQUE?

    EDIT: damnit, i need to work on my english sorry guys i just UNDERSTOOD it but still not gettin it

    this is the txtsetup.oem of my driver

    now im asking officialy for help :)

  13. the guide was very similiar

    now mate, my RAID chip is from VIA its the 1st link, should i try to add my VIA driver with your codes or wat?

  14. If you prefer however to NOT risk erasing the "invisible" EOF marker, then just search for the sections above, and add the entries to each one, i.e. SourceDisksFiles goes in SourceDisksFiles; SCSI.load goes in SCSI.load

    i found 8 [sourceDisksFiles] sentences...that confused me

    btw, those codes (i bolded them), can you explain them abit to me, i never slipstreamed manualy before

    [sourceDisksFiles]si3112.sys = 1,,,,,,3_,4,1

    [HardwareIdsDatabase]

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_31121095 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_34238086 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_311215D9 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_B0021458 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_01661028 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&SUBSYS_82141033 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_35121095 = "Si3112"

    PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_01661028 = "Si3112"

    [sCSI.load]

    si3112 = si3112.sys,4

    [sCSI]

    si3112 = "Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink Controller"

  15. yea i checked the link before, but i have to say the TXTSETUP.SIF is a bit different, i found 5 same sentences that the tutorial explains, i was kinda confused there...

    btw, thnx alot for replying

  16. Hi, latly the Company i work for, got this new XP from Microsoft Partner program called Windows XP Fundamentals for Legacy PC's, looks like they were really inspired by nLite, this XP allows you to choose wich components you want to install, and thats the perfect thing for me, i work as an IT and i could never use XP, i always used Windows 2000 and i totaly removed IE with nLite and i dont even have problems with it...

    im askinh Nicely, and im doubting that i will get a positive answer, cause this XP is not a PUBLIC release, its just for Microsoft Partners...

    the question...Will you guys ever Support Windows XP FLP on nLite?, the only thing that i need it for is SATA/RAID driver intergration, i am a fan of Reliability and Stability, thats why i Always used Win2k, now i have the chance to use alot of software that didnt work in Win2k, in a Stable XP...

    Thnx alot, KinetiK.
