  4. To All: I have done some searching and found that the problem I am having is with control panel and specifically the joy.cpl file. I can open joystick properties with the command however this does not effect my problem. I still get the same error. Everything works but the recorder tab. In effect I cannot assign keyboard strokes to the joystick. I also have a logitech joystick and I can use this, but I prefer the microsoft precision2. This is so weird...all works but the recorder tab. West117
  5. Jeremy: I do have a file called jpicpl32. But no Joy.cpl. Westley
  6. I just got a new computer and am having problems when I did not have a problem on my previous computer that also used XP. When I go into sidewinder central everything works except when I try to go into the recorder tab and I get the following error message RUN DLL AN EXCEPTION OCCURRED WHILE TRYING TO RUN "shell32.dll, Control_ RunDLL joy.cpl" I hope someone can help with this problem. Thanks
  7. Thanks "Hardware Guy". I will have to adjust.
  8. Joystick works well with all other games.
  9. I have an older game called Starfleet Academy and I cannot use the joystick to maneuver the space craft, the x and y axis do not respond. I went into properties and tried all the compatibility modes to no avail. I have tried unplugging the joystick while in the game...no luck either. I also tried changing the numbers on the joystick options file in the game...no change again. I was able to program the hat to use like a steering mechanism. All the other buttons on my Precision 2 joystick do communicate with the game...just the axis does not respond. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  10. I have never used this forum before although I have used many others in trying to get answers to my questions. I am looking forward to this experience.
