  11. I am set as administrator for my computer. When I right click on the icon for windows update I do not get the usual menu you get in other icons to run as administrator. I did run "sfc/scannow" and no problems were detected. i tried to install again and still got the error after the restart.
  12. I have tried to install Windows 7 Service Pack for x64 based systems (KB976932). The product installs, but after I do the restart I get the message that the installation failed with the detail message "Element not Found (0x80070490). I have tried about six times even after performing the recommended procedure given on the Microsoft Website. The process recommended is: 1. Run the System Update Readiness Tool 2. Run a troubleshooter 3.Turn off Security Programs Even after doing all of the above the Service Pack will not install...I get the same error message. The troubleshooter I used was the one found in the Windows 7 control panel. Would appreciate some help on getting this Service pack installed. Thanks, Westley

  14. I have msn through verizon; however msn is discontinuing service through verizon and so I have to move to hotmail. I want to move my favorites from msn to internet explorer. I found directions how to do this which is: 1. go to folders on my computer and check the box that says: "show hidden files and drives. 2.un check "hide protected operating system files" Then it tells me to go to C: drive and open "documents and settings" however there is a lock on documents and settings and I cannot get into the file to perform the other operations required to move the favorites. Question how can I unlock the file "documents and settings" or is there another way to copy my favorites and move them to internet explorer?? In control panel I have myself indicated as "administrator" Thanks...hope someone can help me with this problem. West

  16. When I plug in the color coded (Pink and Black) connections into the 3.5 jack, no sound comes through the headset. When on teamspeak other members cannot hear me either. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thanks. West The headset worked well on my previous version of Windows which was xp.
  17. Cyker: Thanks for the help. I do have a logitech extreme pro installed, could this cause interference since the error message said that there was a conflict?? West
  18. I have an older dell computer with Windows 98 and my current joystick Logitech Extreme 3d pro does install but the computer does not recognize the secondary buttons that are programable. I purchase a Microsoft Sidewinder Pro designed for Windows 95 & 98. It does have a usb adapter, but the computer indicates that there is a conflict but does not specify the conflict. It does indicate that the driver is the best driver for the hardware, but it does not show up as installed. No installation disk came with the joystick; however, I recall that this joystick originally did have a disk. Can anyone help me with this problem or direct me to a download site where I can get the installation program. Thanks. West
  19. Thanks "coffee fiend" and "supervisor". The game B17- The Mighty Eighth is not compatible. The game requires XP Service Pack 2 which I identified in the compatibility mode. The game installs only to 85% and then it locks the computer and I have to run System Restore because it will not allow my computer to shut down and when I turn off by holding the on\off switch windows will not open normally and I have to go into safe mode to run system restore. The other game is Brother in Arms Earned in Blood. The problem here is the protection system does not respond and again the game locks windows 7 with the above result. My new computer will not run windows XP...it is designed specifically for Windows 7. So I can't just switch back to XP. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks again West
  20. There are several games that I really like to play but they are not compatible with Windows 7 Home which came with my computer purchased from Dell. A Dell technician informed me that there is an XP mode in the Professional Edition that will allow me the ability to play the games. I just want some assurance that they will work if I purchase the upgrade to the Windows 7 Professional Edition. Can anyone tell me the answer?? For example some games require XP Service Pack #2. West
  21. I downloaded reg seeker...but was afraid to use it as I do not have any idea what I am doing. Under the uninstall string there is no reference to "B-17 The Mighty Eighth". I may just have to live with this problem, but it is annoying and besides I cannot reinstall the game because uninstall reads that it is still installed although it is completlely gone.
  22. Went into the registry and found the string of letter and numbers under uninstall, but did not see the program "B17- the mighty eighth". As I said earlier, the game disk will not allow me to reinstall; it reads that the game is still present when it has been deleted. Any other ideas. This is tough stuff.
  23. I installed a game called "B-17 the mighty eighth". It did not install correctly so I uninstalled the program, but it remains in the list of installed programs in the control panel. The message tells me that it was uninstalled. When I then try to reinstall the program, the program does not recognize that it has been uninstalled and goes through the uninstall program again, and it says that it was uninstalled, but again when I try to reinstall it goes back into the uninstall process. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thanks. I just tried to uninstall again and got too messages: 1. "HSBR-MP.EXE THE FILE EXTENSION IS TOO LONG 2.README THE FILE EXTENSION IS TOO LONG. I answer OK to both and then i get the message that uninstall finished, but the B17 mighty eighth remains in installed programs.
  24. Cluberti: When I do a flight recording on fsx, it freezes and I get returned to desktop. Note says that I may not have enough memory. i should have plenty of memory, but I will attach dxdiag for your review. Thanks in advance. West DxDiag.txt
  25. I did contact starforce and they recoomended the following: Hello, Most probably this application is protected with too old protection system version and, generally speaking, won't run on Windows 7 in its original state. You can read about it here: http://www.star-force.com/support/users/windows7/ First of all, please, try to do the following: 1) Right-click on the aplication's shortcut, select "Run as administrator"; 2) Run the application, install the drivers and do not reboot the PC; 3) Run drivers updater, you can download it here: http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip ; 4) Reboot the computer and try to launch the application. If this doesn't help, then you should contact your product customer support service and ask them to make a patch, which will either update protection system version or remove protection at all. Unfortunately, we can't build such a patch on our side since we neither have legal authority to produce any patches nor original application files required for that. Sorry for the inconveniences. In order to solve compatibility issue on your PC you can uninstall the drivers but note that if the protected application requires a StarForce driver, this driver will be re-installed as soon as you launch the application again. The following procedure will ensure that all StarForce related components are completely removed from your system. 1. Download the SFREMOVE tool as a ZIP archive: http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvrem.zip 2. Extract and store sfdrvrem.exe anywhere on your hard disk. 3. Run sfdrvrem.exe. Thank you for contacting our support group! -- Best regards, Ilya Savenkov Customer Support Group StarForce Technologies The information of this letter is confidential and must not be disclosed to third persons! I tried all the above with no result. Each time I run the program it corrupts windows 7 and i have to run Windows Restore. Thanks for your help...much appreciated West
