  1. Memnoch: Thanks. I believe it did install manually; however, I still am getting the same yellow shield with the exclamation (!). It continues with the same message as if it was not installed. Are there any other solutions?? Westley
  2. I have downloaded an automatic update from windows xp at least 4 times. After I shutdown the computer and return to windows the same update message appears. It seems that whatever the update was trying to change, it was not being recognized. Here is the update language: Update For Windows (KB967715) INSTALL THIS UPDATE TO RESOLVE AN ISSUE IN WHICH AUTORUN FEATURES WERE NOT CORRECTLY DISABLED. I would appreciate any help with resolving this problem. Thanks Westley

  5. I downloaded an update for acrobat reader. When I startup the computer each time I get a window titled Acrobat.com, but when I click on the File the first line says "Catalyst Control Center". I tried using windows restore, but the same window still appears. I also tried uninstalling acrobat, but I still get the same window. Can anyone please help me with this problem??

  7. Is it possible to delete the web sites visited in the RUN program that is located at the bottom of the Start Menu? Thanks.
  8. Thanks to Jeremy Volatus and UMeesh. Actually I solved the problem another way. I read after searching the internet that I should uninstall the catalyst control center and then reinstall the control center. I did this, but had trouble reinstalling the control center because the download setup program did not recognize that the control center was uninstalled. So , I went to ATI.com and saw that there was a newer update with the control center. I downloaded and installed the new driver and "Walla" the unwanted error message discontinued. Bye the bye, when I uninstalled the driver as you suggested, I still got the same hated message. Thanks for getting involved to all of you!!! West
  9. I first noticed the problem when I installed the older graphics card. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling this card, but to no avail...I still get the same message. Can you help??
  10. I had a bad graphics card so I had to send it away to be checked. In the meantime , I reinstalled my former card to use until the other card was returned. When i made the switch I got the following error message at start-up: "COULD NOT LOAD FILE OR ASSEMBLY 'MOM.IMPLEMENTATION OR ONE OF ITS DEPENDENCIES THE SYSTEM CAN NOT FIND THE SPECIFIED FILE" When I got the new card back, I uninstalled the former card and installed the new card; however, I keep getting the same message. I have run the repair windows program and the checkdisk program, but the problem remains. Any help with this problem would be most gratfully received. Thanks. West

  14. It has been a year since I asked about this problem with my Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick. You can check the recommendations under my name. I am not sure if I should have just added a response to last year's post or start a new one so I will start here again. The software installs OK and the joystick works perfectly except that when I hit the "recorder" function under properties I get the following error message: " An exception occurred when trying to run "Shell32.dll, control_runDLLjoy.cpl. I have gone to the Xp install cd and have copied the Joycp_ file to my Windows\System32 File. However, I get the same error message. Again, I would appreciate any help in solving this problem. I really like this joystick, but if I cannot use the recorder it severly limits what I can do with the joystick. Thanks .
  15. I'll try it the hard way next time ...thanks to all. West

  19. I was making an adjustment to my display resolution and my icons all have the generic look and I have lost their individual appearance...all icons have the same appearance with the loss of their individual look. Can you help me to correct this problem?? Thanks. West I fixed the problem by changing to 16bit and the icon appearance changed back to their original look and then I switched back to 32 bit and the icons remained individualized. hope this will help someone else that has the same problem.
  20. I gave my windows 98 computer to my Sister. When I tried to install the Sidewinder Precision2 joystick I get a message to place the Windows98 source disk into the drive to retrieve the following file: D:/Progra~1 Common~\aol\acs\netwving98SE\hidclass.sys. I then get the following error message: "hidclass.sys on windows98 second edition cd-rom cannot be found. Question: How do I get this file?? Thanks. West
  21. Jeremy: finally it worked with: C:\joycp_:26810 bytes to 68608 bytes, 155% increase. I tried the recorder tab, but got same error message. I went to system 32, but did not see the ext. file joy.cpl, but dos said that it created it. Is that extension supposed to show up in system 32? Thanks for your help...it does not look like there is a fix. West
  22. Jeremy: It finally transferred to read: C:\joycp_:26810 bytes to 68608 bytes, 155% increase. I tried opening the recorder, but still got the exception message. I do appreciate your help, but this looks like a loser. What do you think? West
  23. Jeremy: I continue to get the same error message. My xp disk is in the E: drive and the file cp_ is in the C: root directory. West
