yeah, I've been checking their site every day for a week, and finally saw that you can download it, so i thought I'd share the news for other dorks like me who constantly monitor their site.

i didn't see this information anywhere, so i thought I'd post it for anybody wanting to know.

I used norton ghost 9, and it will burn your hard drive image (just files, not blank space) to dvds if you have a dvd burner. You can also compress it. I had a 40 gig hd, and the image was 9 gigs uncompressed, but norton compressed it to about 4.3 (or something) and it barely fit on a dvd. Then you can just boot to the dvd, or a disk, and reghost it. it is a pain in the butt, norton is difficult, but it is possible.

Anybody played this game yet? I started playing the other day. It's hilarious, but pretty crude at the same time. I never did play the originals. It runs pretty well on my laptop (radeon mobility 7500) so it's pretty entertaining when i'm out and bored.

yeah this is probably the main reason i'm not getting my hopes up. I don't want to be dissapointed. But I will admit....I got a AIW 9800 pro just incase it's cool

Is anyone else as not excited about HL2 as I am? I think that it's hyped up so much that it's going to be a letdown when it's finally released. I really do hope I'm wrong, I love a good FPS just like any other geek with blood flowing thru his veins, but I guess I just havnen't caught the HL2 excitement like everyone else.... I guess I'm just not expecting it to be spectacular and groundbreaking, and revolutionary like everyone is hyping it up to be.

spoke lee, i just spent all weekend pretty much doing the same thing you did. I got the exact same errors bsods and all that stuff. I have the ASUS A7N8X-dx mobo. The way I finally got it to work was by switching a jumper on my motherboard to allow raid. Then I did a Bios reset to defaults after flashing the bios. Then I hit F6 during xp install and used the sata drivers provided by asus on the cd, and put them on a floppy. it found the drive, installed drivers, and formatted 200gb seagate sata, then installed windows with no problem. (I say no problem, but this was the 30th try) I think one of the main things is that I was using an unattended XP Pro SP2 CD. I went back to using just a plain winxpsp2 cd and then it seemed to work. So it was the combination of one or 2 of those things that actually allowed it to boot. Now windows is much faster on a 7200rpm sata instead of that 5400 ide i had on there! I know that wasn't a good explaination but if you need me to elaborate on more details let me know.

I used the original WinXP released in 2001 and everything works fine now. I"m sure there is a technical way to delete/manipulate/rename some magical file, but all i know is that after several failed attempts, this worked for me.

ok. it worked now. I guess there is something in that sp1 cd from m$. very odd. I did notice that cd with sp1 they gave us has a lot of the post sp1 updates as well, mabye it's that rollup package 1 disk. If so they didn't label it that! Sorry if I can't help anybody that only has that sp1 cd, I don't know any other solution other than just using the plain old WinXP Pro disk.

I just slipstreamed sp2 into our first winxp cd given to us back in 2001 or something. I"m gonna add some ram and reboot and try again. 768mb just isn't enough these days

Hey, I'm also getting the exact same problem. "ntfs.sys corrupt" I've burned I don't know how many cds, and done error checking, and mounted it in vmware. I've started from scratch about 5 times now as well. SP2 seems to slipstream just fine. I've tried it with nlite and manually, and I get the same thing every time. I am using the volume licensing cd we got from microsoft in oct 2002. It's labeled "Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition Service Pack 1". I've copied the files to my HD so many times. I've been using that image for my unattended xp install for a long time, and everything has been working great until sp2 is integrated. I'll keep doing stuff, but I hope somebody comes up with a solution.

My XP DVD worked great installing officexp, publisher, and the media content with no problems until I slipstreamed sp3 into my administrative install. This is the part I can't figure out. I copied over the exact same OfficeXPsp3/publisher/media content over to our network drive so we could install OfficeXP sp3 here at work, and when you run the exact same batch file (code is exact, but file path names are different of course) I have on my XPdvd it works great. But when I run the same batch file on my xpdvd during install, it doesn't work. It doesn't even install office. I checked event viewer after xp had rebooted and this is an error I got... Event Log Type: Error User: N/A Source: MsInstaller Category: None Event ID: 11931 Product: WebFldrs XP - Error 1931. The Windows Installer service cannot update the system file c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\40\bin\fp4autl.dll because the file is protected by Windows. You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly. Package version 4.0.2.6513, OS Protected Version: 0.0.0.0 I checked the M$ support website and this exact error was reported but only on installing to a server wtih front page extensions like win2k or win2k3, but this is winxp.... so obviously it's a file sharing problem (I think) and office is trying to write to, or replace this file, but windows won't let it. And remember the only thing that has changed is that I upgraded to sp3. Sp2 worked fine. any ideas??? Thx

linux: is that style xp or the cracked uxtheme.dll? I couldn't get the cracked uxtheme to display stuff that nice. thx.
