  1. Overheating? Clean the heatsink/fan of any dust accumulation and ensure there is sufficient airflow throughout the case.
  2. That speed decrease may simple be due to more inefficient code in the main loop.
  3. It's been broken already, by me. (see Enable48BitLBA thread)What LAN card are you using? This sounds very interesting, as I have an Intel gigabit LAN on my laptop which currently does not work under 98SE.
  4. Tell whoever uploaded it to use another more sensible filehost, like http://zupload.com I used to use Megaupload but since they started using such aggressive tactics I've not.
  5. 1.6T$ ? I think Gates had something around that order of magnitude... I could be wrong though.
  6. Agree, you shouldn't be looking at your keyboard anyway. BTW, they still make buckling-spring keyboards ( http://www.clickykeyboard.com/ ). They have an interesting feel, and I definitely don't mind using one, but I've found that a keyboard with nearly zero key travel (I took a standard dome-membrane-switch keyboard and tried using only the switch membrane on the backplate as a keyboard) greatly increases my typing speed.
  7. Just SetFilePointer to the end of file (method = from end, displacement=0) and then WriteFile whatever you want.
  8. WE'RE NOT BLIND! http://www.dansdata.com/diyups.htm interesting read.
  9. Then Ghost it. I suppose it's legal for you to download it for "personal use" where you are ...and all the same language and product versions of Win98se have identical files, it's not as if each copy has a distinct ID or something.
  10. VLK does not need activation and is legal to install on many machines ("volume" license...) But you are really only using it on one machine at a time. So it doesn't matter. The problem will be with the drivers/hardware. If the two PCs are identical it will work, otherwise drivers will not work properly.
  11. The only time you should disable the pagefile is if you are defragging the drive.
  12. For future reference: http://wiki.djlizard.net/Product_IDs
  13. Probably a generic Chinese/Taiwanese-manufactured drive. Hitachi/Toshiba would be my first two choices.
  14. Windows would fill up the physical RAM and then swap the remaining 50MB or so to the pagefile.
  15. BTW, vibration kills hard drives.
  16. http://spiff.tripnet.se/~iczelion/vxd-tut1.html http://spiff.tripnet.se/~iczelion/vxd-tut2.html ... http://spiff.tripnet.se/~iczelion/vxd-tut8.html http://spiff.tripnet.se/~iczelion/vxd-tut9.html Here you go. My question to you, is do you really think you can write your own driver? It's not easy, trust me..
  17. Fix it at 1024/1024. Now you shall never recieve messages about increasing the pagefile size, as it cannot be increased. (Also helps performance if the pagefile is defragged and fixed.)

    IE7 slow.

Would you really expect newer software to be faster? It's the other way around, lol.
