I have cleaned this off multiple computers now, here are the steps i took:
1) boot up into recovery console and type "Disable uacd.sys"
2) boot up into windows and delete the key HKLM\software\UAC (if you cant do this from windows do it from a live cd)
3) delete the driver from C:\windows\system32\drivers
4) delete the files left in system 32
Note: the driver and the files all start with UAC and have garbage after the name e.g uacjdiuwgfegfjfgksdf.sys
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
Does anybody know of any backup software that will allow me to backup to removable drives as follows:
Lets say i have 10TB of data to backup and 10 x 1TB removable drives
I start the backup with 1 removable drive connected, the software backs up 1 TB of data and then prompts me for the next disc. I replace it and the backup continues until all 10 drives are full.
Does anyone know of any software that can do this?
Thank you

So if you type bcdedit at command line how many entries do you have and what is the value next to "timeout" ?

Go into advanced system settings and change the timeout for OS selection to 0, that should do it

Hey guys thanks for the replies
I was having issues with WinInstall LE and havent gotten around to troubleshooting them yet. I will try both of the ones you mentioned
Thanks a lot for the help!
EDIT:
I have just tried advanced installer, using a clean Image. I ran everything over the network, installed the app, built the MSI and tried to install it but i get what i was getting with WinInstall LE....
It seems to be having trouble accessing the C:\windows\WinSXS folder, i checked the permissions and only the trusted installer service has access to this directory, not even the system account has access. Has anyone else had this?
In the mean time im going to try packaging a much simpler application and see if that gives me any trouble.
Thank you
EDIT 2:
I repacked VLC fine, so thanks for the recommendation elajua
The app that failed earlier on the WinSXS folder was avira antivirus, Am i right in assuming that i wont ever be able to package this or similar apps because of this folder and its ACL ?
Thanks

like timebombs matter doenst everyone reinstall windows every three months for the shear enjoyment of it?
I never have to reinstall unless i majorly change some piece of hardware. Vms help keep everthing running smooth. If a piece of software installs a driver or makes any other significant change to my computer it is confined to a VM, and thats the way it should be.

Hi everyone,
For a long time i have used WinInstall LE whenever i wanted to create an MSI file. However it doesnt seem to work with windows 7. Does anyone know a freeware MSI creator that works with Win 7?
Thank you
EDIT: Ignore this post, after a long time searching i just tried compatability mode for XP SP2 and it works, lol dont know why i didnt try that earlier... oh well

I am using windows 7 as my main OS, only 1 issue so far (folder.jpg is no longer used as the thumbnail image ) but aside from that Im happy with it. Also I dont know how i could ever put up with a standard taskbar after using the superbar, its so good!

Yes that bug is rather annoying, I know exactly which one you mean, You still get the context menu just the files shift to the left or right for some reason.

Same here, all of my media has a folder.jpg to go with it and im upset too lol

IMO, Vista was a mistake from microsoft
In what respect was vista a mistake?
All of the features that vista brought to the desktop operating system arena, low level innovations that vista brought to the windows Kernel... Guess what Windows 7 has them too, except it has evolved one step further.
IMO
Vista = WIN
Win 7 = WIN + 1

Hi Everyone,
In previous versions of windows if you have thumbnail view enabled and a jpeg named "folder.jpg" inside a directory it is displayed as the folder "icon".
This does not happen in RC1, can anyone confirm if this is just a bug or has the functionality been removed?
Thank you

That sounds really good I shall bear it in mind if I ever (hope not) find myself in that situation

So you purchased that and it worked? how long did it take to complete? and how did you do it?

I havent bought it yet, I sent a question to one retailer about another Switch (and compatability with Jumbo frames) and never got an answer. Im not sure what buffers these ones have, I will have a look.
Thing is I dont *need* jumbo frames, I just want them
D.amn my stupid obsession with all things ICT lol
I cant believe a 2mb buffer is 5X the price, thats just crazy.

Hi everyone,
I have a server 2008 server with an Areca ARC-1230 card in it with 12 1TB drives connected.
These are running in RAID 6.
Every so often with no pattern i get an NTFS 55 error in the system log.
once it happens self healing NTFS kicks in and repairs it but its concerning me.
I have done a full Chkdsk /R and ran a volume check from the RAID card Bios but the errors still occur occasionally.
Is this to be expected with such a large capacity array?
Thanks for any help

If you open the C: drive and it takes a long time to enumerate the files in there, it would suggest there are a lot of files in there.
Use command line and run a "dir" command on the root of C: and see how many files it returns.
Thanks

Yeah i noticed that, the ones im looking at (a 3com 8 port) support Jumbo frames of 9k which as you say is what you would expect.

Excellent!
Thanks for the help

Hi,
Yeah i have 2 switches at home. The Layout is as follows:
1GBswitch----------1GBSwitch------------100MBps(ROUTER)
I am looking at replacing the 2 switches with Jumbo Frame switches. I assume i would need a router capable of supporting jumbo frames then too?
Thanks for the help

Hi everyone,
just wondering if anyone has any experience with jumbo frames and if they can answer this question:
If i have 2 switches, 1 that supports jumbo frames and 1 that does not what will happen to the data that passes between them? (more specifically Jumbo to non-jumbo) will the data be fragmented? or will it just not work?
Thanks for your time

Put a redirection on a local IIS server if you have one. Have them type in "emailsonline" or whatever and that could be a virtual directory with a masked redirection on it to the longer URL?

You cant have a map of the internets! Such responsibility! Such power!.....
