  1. After installing Windows 8, I have to add a few languages I want to use myself to client's machine but sometimes I may forget to do so and that'd be troublesome to add every time after installing Windows 8. Is there a way to make adding language working unattended? Thanks
  2. Well, sry. I thought it was official. Anyway, I tried slipstreaming SP1 manually to my DVD files but USB keyboard/mouse didn't work at all after reboot. I wonder why.
  3. I got it from friend's torrent but seems fake though. Did vLite work with Windows 7 SP1 anyway?
  4. It appears dism didn't work properly with official SP1 RC ISO. At first, some packages like modem and printer drivers caused image not serviceable. Then I got BSOD from dism tool but non-SP1 worked fine. I'm not sure if some of packages caused this it's entirely wim tweak's fault. How did you guys manage to trim down 7SP1 with dism?
  5. I recently encountered problem with native touch screen support with Windows 7. I admit I shrinked a lot of stuff including Winsxs and such making installer even small enough to fit in CD. It works with wifi and infared without trouble though. However, it doesn't detect touch feature when I put Acer T230H in. I found devices getting updated in device manager but no touch screen support. My current guess I removed Snipping Tool that caused this but I'm not really sure if there's any other cause. I made it as Starter Edition for keeping things smaller with lowest hassles. I'm not sure if Starter Edition will also cause this because it doesn't come with tablet pc but it should work fine according to report with touch screen monitor. Any idea to solve this problem besides Snipping Tool?
  6. nvm. i found the culprit. some files outside install.wim got removed by nLite causing some preloaded drivers missing. I copied missing files and solved this problem.
  7. I tried this in VMWare. It worked fine but when I test it on real machine using external panasonic bluray combo drive, it showed me error like when ppl forget to put setup.exe from sources folder in. But I did put it in there though. What more is I checked browse function and found no CD drive detected. I didn't remove any additional components besides ones provided in there and I even tried clearing drivers support removal and such but no luck. Any hints to solve this?
  8. My issue is I couldn't set application compatibility to Windows XP successfully in Windows Server 2003 SP1. However, I can set on the rest like Windows 2000, Windows Me but not for XP.
  9. Now I'm using Windows Server 2003 SP2 Beta build 2805. It has MediaCenter restriction keys which disallow me to do mce installation tricks. In XP, I see nLite has Media Center option to remove which also removes MediaCenter key for doing this trick. If you guys know how it's removed, please tell me.
  10. When I opened User Accounts, it said "Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment". I tried to make my 2k3 OS as slim as I can but I don't know what caused this.
  11. Looks like there's protection in system32 via sfc. It will disallow renaming system files in there.
  12. I don't know if it has something to do with MS certificated file or not but using this trick with modified files may not work on some machines. I tried this once before publishing Vista Transformation Pack 5.0 but it failed miserably. No files changed. I heard that XPize made successful ones so I gave it a try but still not working like mine also Do you guys have any clue why or any solution would be great.
  13. Solution 1. Extract WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB900325-usa.exe file 2. Extract KB900325.exe (I assume 2k3sp1 or 2k3r2 will have all other updates or get update pack from the net so you'll need just this but you can do more if you want) 3. Set compatibility to Windows XP for KB900325\update\update.exe 4. open regedit and head to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows and set CSDVersion to 512 (200 in hexadecimal) 5. Copy custsat.dll from Program Files\Windows Media Player to Windows\eHome 6. Run KB900325\update\update.exe and set do not restart now 7. Extract april 2006 update (WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB914548-ENU.exe) 8. Set compatibility to Windows XP for WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB914548-ENU\update\update.exe 9. Run WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB914548-ENU\update\update.exe 10. Restart and viola
  14. I'll release 2.0 soon with some bug fixes in .sig file, total conversion will be back and full memory access (no dep) if possible.
  15. I found Retail ones somewhere. There's option like this in program.
  16. Yes. Just switch platform identifier back to Windows Server 2003 and apply Windows Update.
  17. It can 10MB will make PC slower? I wonder if people who believe Vista will be faster even it sucked up 300MB than XP is fool. Not the point at all. It might uses little more resources like 10MB for extra services that Windows Server 2003 provided. However, despite the new kernel core which makes everything much faster than Windows XP. I think it's useless to make you agree on this. Only way to know is trying it and see it for yourself. Almost everyone who tried with my tool never regret with it.
  18. Somehow I feel bored of these sentence. I'm pretty sure 80% of guys who said this never try it. See here. http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=444659 Nobody complains like you, not even saying it's server OS lol. Neowin had a very big flamewar about making 2k3 become workstation long time ago so they won't be stupid guys who just want to try for sure. Just try it and you'll know it's far better than normal Windows XP. If not, you wouldn't see 64-bit edition using the same kernel as Windows Server 2003 and Vista wouldn't use Windows Server 2003 as main kernel (Vista's kernel is almost same as 2k3 for main). Its a bit like somebody inventing a machine that can convert tea into coffee. <--- Unfortunately, that tea machine make better coffee than current coffee machine with few fixes. That's why converting tea making to coffee is a worth try.
  19. You can find place to buy cheap 2003 in your own way, maybe 350USD or more. Think of ppl who's selling this one because they switched to R2. Or ebay http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?c...2003&category0=
  20. gdogg umm.....how should I explain. You guys got really wrong idea of Windows Server 2003. It doesn't use more memory at all. I do clean install and it consumes just like XP (about 200). Kernel makes everything much faster than XP and process runs better than XP. Delprat It doesn't need higher spec, not at all. MS said that because they set DisablePagingExcutive to 1 by default and I don't think most of you use spec worse than CPU 1GHz and 256MB RAM. About cracking, Retail version doesn't need cracking or stuffs like that and it's highly recommended not to convert non-SP1 version to workstation (It's not made for workstation until SP1) BigDaddy You're right. Windows Server 2003 has better resources and memory management. Clint If you're going to mention about guide and self-tweaks, you can't really make it XP yourself without my tool, NTSwitch or TweakNT. You can manually install system restore with old method of importing reg file which make some services not working for OS with many stuffs installed. Many ppl have problem about auto-mounting which is not mentioned in guide about solution to fix it. Nothing but few reg tweaks, you do it yourself and spending about 30 mins or more to finish it (maybe 10-15 when you really get used to it) But this in single click and automation support (Which can be done before MAMA cup is ready, 3 mins). Anyway, it seems MSFN don't welcome this so I wouldn't force you to. I'd rather sticking with place where they see how valuable it is.
  21. As many guys know that Windows Server 2003 uses the newer kernel which is faster, more stable and has better memory management. Despite the fact it's made for server purposes, some claimed it's optimized for workstation purposes very well in SP1. So I gave it a try for workstation conversion and it was really a worth try. Then I decided to make conversion tool that turn Windows Server 2003 to completely Windows XP. This works on both Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 and it's highly recommended to install Service Pack 1 before apply the conversion. Let's see why should we switch from XP to 2003 as XP from OSNews' article here. Features: Windows Server 2003/Windows XP conversion (Retail or cracked winlogon.exe only) Server security configuration |-Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration |-Shutdown Event Tracker |-Error reporting |-Ctrl+Alt+Del requirement on startup |-Drive auto-mounting Features configuration |-Manage Your Server logon window |-Processor scheduling |-Windows Update |-Firewall |-Start Menu items (You have to create new Administrator account) Services configuration |-Themes |-CD-Burning |-Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) |-Multimedia support and DirectX acceleration |-Visual effects XP missing stuffs configuration |-User accounts in Control Panel |-Classic games |-3-D arcade pinball game |-System Restore |-Shell services (logon, fast user switching, progress dialog ,user picture, etc.). Functions 1. It can apply Windows XP conversion as close as Windows XP Professional x64 Edition SP1 2. It can undo conversion back to original (You can choose to remove some or all) 3. It can convert Windows Server 2003 CD to Windows XP CD (Not real, though) Get Windows Server 2003 - XP Conversion Pack

  23. Set vtp.sif to enable unattended transformation using First-Run transformation in your CD or get nLite/RVM Integrator Pack version. Yes, it was shell32_icons.res and error 53, my friend said the same on MSN, but he also managed to restore his system using system restore Really weird. It supposed to be "icons_shell32.res" not that. Is that name correct and do you remember when it occured? Program warned you to close everything you could before running it (Safemode is much better). If this happen, it means batch file was being held to process by your security software. Straight forward, use "Lite" I made that for this purpose. If you don't want to risk like program said, use manual mode and replace files yourself. I gave you so much choices if you read it carefully.
  24. Could you host that file and send me link? I want to exam it for ppl's sake. As long as you don't select boot screen and use automatic transformation in safemode, it should work fine (dunno if boot screen will be screwed on some cases but what case? My Home Polish test OS worked fine)
