  1. AdExplorer v1.3: This update to AdExplorer, an Active Directory editor, has major node expansion performance improvements and a number of minor bug fixes. VMMap v2.6: VMMap, a powerful process virtual and physical memory analysis tool, now shows both graphical and numeric breakdowns of private virtual memory, as well as heap configuration flags. Disk2vhd v1.5: Disk2Vhd v1.5 works with Hyper-V SCSI direct-attached volumes and reports an error when a snapshot includes offline volumes. LiveKd v3.14: This version of LiveKd has better detection of the Debugging Tools package installation and launches the debugger in a mode that skips the unnecessary root-cause analysis of the virtual dump file. Sigcheck v1.66: This update to Sigcheck, a file version and signature checking utility, fixes a bug in the certificate revocation check logic. http://blogs.technet.com/sysinternals/archive/2010/03/03/updates-adexplorer-v1-3-vmmap-v2-6-disk2vhd-v1-5-livekd-v3-14-sigcheck-v1-66.aspx
  2. Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\BrowserChoice Value name: Enable Value type: DWORD Possible values: 1 Display the Browser Choice update (default) 0 Do not display the Browser Choice update
  3. I'm not sure what you mean, its my understanding you can use a workgroup just as before, or a homegroup if you want. Maybe there's a policy on your computer preventing this?
  4. By defalt in windows 7 the built in adminostrator account bypasses UAC. If you make another account that has administrator permissions you will get UAC prompts, this is by default. You can change this by going into secpol.msc, under security options there's 6 UAC options at the bottom you can customize.
  5. sounds like a bios update. WITH ACPI the OS is control of power options, compared to APM when gave more control to the hardware. cheers
  6. cant you just audit the network share? Then any access attempts would be logged in security event logs for your db to look at.
  7. here's what you need to do: 1) backup the data on the external HDD 2) Wipe it, and wipe the boot sector 3) repartition and format the drive, then copy the data back
  8. maybe you have the wrong version of the tool...?

    Windows 7 FTP

Interesting new project, uses new windows 7 features in a ftp client http://www.codeproject.com/KB/IP/win7ftp.aspx#Introduction http://www.codeproject.com/KB/IP/win7ftp/Win7Ftp_Setup.zip
  12. are you using the vista version of imagex?
  13. why dont u report this to microsoft? Seems like a security bug. Originall Sysprep would store the windows key and users passwords in plain text in sysprep.inf, then with windows xp they encrypted it to avoid users discovering the windows key or users passwords. Seems like they might fix this. Only other option would be to use filemon to see what .dll netsh is using then delete the .dll
  14. Increase VMBus buffer sizes to increase network throughput to guest VMs http://blogs.technet.com/winserverperforma...-guest-vms.aspx
  15. microsoft always builds new versions. Even when microsoft releases a new windows version, theyll start work on the next version of windows immediately. I first used the alpha version of windows longhorn a couple weeks after XP launched.

  17. the server service shares folders, you only need to restart that. That sounds like something 3rd party, or maybe a virus.

    copying

The first thing to verify is that read ahead caching is disabled. By default windows disables cashing on your internal hard drive, but enables it on external hard drives. Just go into device manager, double click on your external HD, and under one of the tabs uncheck the read ahead caching. Reboot, then youll see a big improvement.

  21. Look, i am very busy. When i find something useful i post it on this site. In retrospect its easy to i should have done this, i should have done that. The microsoft blog said this worked fine without any issues. I had no reason to doubt 2 microsoft employees who said this worked fine. Dont shoot the messenger. If you have a complaint direct it at the original source - the microsoft blog. It would be nice to get a thanks every once in awhile.
  22. The blog is here: http://blogs.technet.com/deploymentguys/ar...windows-pe.aspx
  23. Then, being the title of this thread "New support for wifi", and seeing what Eagle710 posted, does it means that BOTH gosh and Eagle710 are lieing? @Eagle710 Care to post some details on the topic and your success? jaclaz jaclaz i just copied my post from a Microsoft blog. All content was directly from microsoft. So its not a question of not telling the truth, if Microsoft says it works it works.
  24. Apparently he's not too happy about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQnT0zp8Ya4...=youtu.be&a
  25. Could be a driver freezing the system. You can enable boot logging from the F8 startup menu. See if the issue happens in safe mode, that would prove it.
