i would recommend using winpe as a lot of bonus's are then introduced for recovery and deployment e.g. you can create a program to do what you want partitioning etc.
why format the hard drive before installing windows the xp install takes care of that now i am intrested in a dos menu system which would edit my winnt.sif with a little user input such as computername and end user name etc then launch setup but these are being designed to run under winpe which will do for me since i use it as a recovery enviroment it has now become my deployment enviroment as well.
i just no from experience that using them programs does that because when i was on 56k i tried everything to get that little extra speed but now i am in the land of the true internet
why not get a athlon 64 then you have saved a upgrade to 64bit when the 64bit apps come out i dont know which board to go for which support 64bit as i had no experience with them sorry i would recommend placing the HD's in a RAID 0 Array then you get a lot better performance but if one HD fails then all your data is lost so you may want to invest in a backup device such as a DVD Writer.
can you start the computer in safe mode and run msconfig (start > run and type in msconfig) click on startup and disable zonealarm or post a screenshot of what is listed and i will tell you what to remove it could be a conflict. what processes are running when the computer starts?
grab the latest version of zonealarm and please post system specs and what programs you have running when zonealarm crashes as it could be a conflict, if not does the system lockup during other programs as it could be memory.
why not make a local copy of the installation files then you can freely walk away instructions can be found here --> http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=9453 (Thanks Gosh )
maybe he edited his host file using one of the net accelaration programs that adds commonly used sites to your host file that way the need for a dns server is eliminated that would also tie in with him being on 56k otherwise i dont see how he would get here :S
did you hex edit syssetup.dll to change the administrator name? i am just curious because i would be intrested in changing by default at minute i have a security policy applied which changes it.
WinRAR is the only choice i was actually shocked to find out there are other compression utilities i thinks i am sticking with winRAR it does exactly what it says on the tin
that is really impressive work guys, are any of you professional designers or just do it for fun? i am also curious to know which tools you guys have used to create these exceptional pieces of work
