  3. HI all, i'm trying to write a batch file that does an if statement and loop in the same time.

one of our system sometimes get hosed, so in order to fix it, i need to kill some processes, we have an application that has several processes with the same name, it is called extras.exe, sometimes it has 9 processes, sometimes are 12.

My question is how can i write a batch file that checks for those processes, keeps killing those processes until there is no process anymore, becuase if i tell it to kill 9 processes and there were 10, 1 process will stay there, if i tell it to kill 12 and there were 10, it will freeze up.

    thanks for your help

  4. Hi Download Kid,

    Thanks for your reply.

these are the answers for your questions.

    Q

    - Is the wireless in the laptop built in or a pcm card / USB?How old is the machine? How old is the card.

    A

-it is built in. the machine is 2 years old. Intel 2.8 GHZ, 512 DDR. 802.11G wireless NIC Card

    Q

Is the router 11b or g?

    the router is Linksys 8.2.11b

    Q

Are you trying to use both standards at once between the different machines and router?

    A

the other laptop is 802.11b. mine is 802.11g, i don't think that will effect the connection becuase my laptop NIC's Properties can go from 8.2.11g to 802.11b automatically.

    Q

What is the signal strength reading, strong, weak, intermittent etc

    A

    The signal is Excelent

    Q

Might want to try changing the channels on the Dell to see if signal strenght improves

    A

i tried to change the channel on both the Linksys and the Dell, and it still giving me the Request timed out"

    Q

Are there any restrictions / filtering on the router. Is there any firewall software loaded locally interfereing.

    A

I have WEP running and the SSID is disabled for broadcast, windows firewall is enabled (SP2)

    Q

Double check using ipconfig /all that the laptop is recieving the correct settings for DNS, DHCP, IP and in particular default gateway, though in truth as you are able to get web pages on occaisions I suspect these are ok. Perform the ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew to ensure functionality.

    A

I checked them, nothing is wrong with them. disbled and enabled the NIC alot of time in order to relase and renew the IP address.. still no luck.

    Q

Diable any 1394 and ethernet connections.

    A

Disabled everything except the Wireless NIC and it still giving me the request timed out...

    Any help please

  7. Hi all,

I got scolded for posting this post under general, I'm Sorry... I hope i put it now in the right section.

At home I'm behind a netgear router, and i'm VPNning to a remote site(Microsoft VPN)... i get connected and authinticated fine, but after almost 2 minutes, i lose connectivity!!! and in order to get it back is i have to disconnect the VPN and connect again.

I decided to do some troubleshooting, so i found out that if I removed the router and directly connect to the internet with Windows firewall, i don't loose connectivity!!!

What could be the problem? any feedback would be apreciated.

  9. Hi all,

Is there a way to write a batch file that copies a a specific tree in a registry?

we have a telephony server that writes all the configuration to a registry tree, i would like to know how to copy that tree and put it somewhere to be backed up...so if anything happnes to the server, i can just import that tree back and all my settings will be there... so i don't have to recreate all the users and thier configuration.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Thanks alot MADGutts for replying

How would i know if the new server is pointing to the old server???

About shutting the old one off, i thought about it, but alot of people use it... so i was leaving this option to the last option.

The new server is working fine... sends and recieves internalling and externally

there is one issue that when i hit send/recieve, it keeps giving me this error

"! Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F)' : 'The operation failed. An object could not be found.' "

But other than that, it works fine.

    Thanks in advance

  11. Hi all,

I hope you can help me with this.

I have exchange 2000 on an old box, i installed exchange 2003 on a new box, and moved a "test" account from the old one to the new one and everything seems to work fine (send and recieve within the domain, and inside and outside the domain)...

Now i want to remove the old one, but when i looked under system manager\administrative groups\"domain name"\connectors, i saw 5 connectors,

Internet Main Service ("old mail server name")

Internet Mail SMTP COnnector ("new mail server name")

COnnector for MS SchedulePlus FreeBusy ("old mail server name")

MS Mail COnnector ("old mail server name")

Connector for cc:Mail("old mail server name")

I'm afriad that when i remove the old mail server, all the connectors that are associated with the old mail server would not work ...

    Any advice pleaseeeeeeeee

    thanks alot
