  1. Hi there. I think I was infected with a virus...I tried to reinstall my windows xp SP2 (repair). During installation it promted that ......inf ( if forgot which filename was that) cannot be located on the disc so I tried to browse it manualy and it was on the cd but everytime I click the retry button, it doesn't work...anyways it prompted gor 2 or 3 files more but to make the story short I finished my reinstallation. After that, it installs the windows xp...when i try to open files it works ok...but when I try to access windows/system files it becomes very slow such as display settings, add remove programs and the like.. i tried cleaning my registry and it comes to 12 million and still didn't stop scanning...i think i have a lot of registry entry...what should I do...

  6. try msconfig and on the startup tab check what are ur startup itams and click only those programs which are important... try to check also ur anti-virus..if u installed new one...then expect the slowness...anyways not sure if this will help nut u can try it.

  7. did u installed new anti virus?'coz usually it makes scan on the startup...try checking ur msconfig..on the startup tab..chack how many programs you have there and disable some unnecessary start up items...not sure but maybe this will help u!

    oopss..sorry wrong page..hehe :blushing:

  8. anybody know how can i use my cd rom with pcmcia on my notebook? i'm using it before...when i upgraded my notebook into xp my cd rom is not recognized...since i use n-lite to remove some components of installation...i have to provide the driver of my devices. my cd rom is now in b: drive and its says it is not existing because it has question mark on its icon..what shall i do?

  10. i suggest you get the xp boot floppys from microsoft, its either 5 or 6 floppys in total, that will sort it, make  sure u get right 1 though, whether it be 4 xp home or xp pro,  cheers              here you go, you will see them half way down that page,      http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310994            they for a unbootable cdrom

yeah...thanks i already downloaded the 6 floopies and i will try it now! give u gusy update if i installed xp or still not. :)

  11. r u kidding? xp runs smoothly on 32mb ram machine?????  i have my xp nlited(180mb iso) and i run it on an athlon 64 machine with 1 gb ram and sometimes still runs slow......

yeah..'coz i didn't install anything on it..not even office. a start-up it is a little slow but once it is finish, i can open the internet very fast.

  12. Who said anything about running "setup.exe", in DOS mode you need to run "d:\i386\winnt.exe". Also, 64Mb is the minimum RAM required for XP, and I think the installation WILL fail anyway!  :w00t:

i have used nlite to disable the memory checking. I also have one desktop with 32mb on it and i have installed xp os the other day. it is running smoothly and ok.

  13. no it is not broke. I think this is the problem. I'm using a pcmcia card, i'm not directly connected to my laptop. I think when the installation reboot, he cannot recognize my cd rom anymore. same thing happened to me when i installed windows 98se before. i reformatted my disk and my cd-rom is not receognize so i have to get the mscdex.exe file before i can use my computer. but installing xp is different from 98 'coz xp cannot be run setup.exe in dos mode. what shall i do?
