Win98 does NOT natively support mass storage devices, but most vendors DO support windows 98. Just visit your device vendor's web page and download the appropriate drivers.

As for troubleshooting your hotfix problems, bluescreens is right, take a look at your C:\Windows folder an open the KBXXXXX.log file in notepad, where XXXXX is the KB number you were installing when the problem occured, that will tell you what the problem was.

Good question! IMHO integrating involves execution of hotfixes and/or updating files during the OS installation. When you "slipstream" a SP or hotfix no programs nor updates need to be run when setup executes. I don't know if this is entirely true, just my 2 cents

AFAIK, ezcd is a crappy disk manager originally designed for older systems (that don't support large hard disks) to correctly address the disk. If you have a "decent" system you won't be needing it, just use your XPCD to partition/format your drive, I recommend using NTFS file system.

You can't have recovery console with winnt.sif on your disc. Remeber: Recovery console was not designed for an unattended installation, but for troubleshooting a previously installed version of the OS.

May I ask a question? Why try to integrate? I've read several threads in this forums that point some problems and/or bugs when integrating this fix. IMHO, if you're testing your DVD in a virtual PC, there should be no problem with your disc size, problem will be when you burn it, remember: Of course you can always use a DL DVD

no, we don't have a registry backup, but I was just thinking about system restore, will resetting the system to a previous state do the job? I think the easier way is to know the exact registry key, but I'll try anything

Well, here's the thing: someone created a user account on XP Pro named TEST1, for some reason she forgot the account's password, so I rebooted in safe mode and login as administrator and deleted the password for this account. Now she wants the password back exactly as it was before (turns out it was her brother's laptop), needless to say none of us knows the password. Is there some file or registry key that stores this passwords?

I'm having issues when trying to slipstream my SATA drivers to my multiboot dvd, I've followed msfn's guide to do it, but it seems that it only works in a plain CD, I can't get it to work in a multiboot environment. I get the error "xxxxxx.sys cannot be found". I tried copying the .sys file to the boot folders of the dvd, but now it gives me another error message: "the file xxxxx.sys is corrupt" Has anyone achieved this task succesfully? or will i have to stick with the OEMPreinstal=No/floppy approach?

Ok, i've been reading these threads for several days now, I want to slipstream my 3 mobo SATA drivers (Fasttrak, iastor & viamraid.sys) to an unattended disc. When making a regular XPSP2 Unat CD it works just great The problem comes when trying to do it to a MultiBoot DVD! I've seen this problem posted several times within the board, but there's no 'real' answer for this yet. The problem I have is "xxxxxx.sys cannot be found" message. What I did was to copy all the .sys files to the boot directories of each distribution, now a new message appears: "xxxxxx.sys is damaged", (or corrupt, i don't know the exact translation for "dañado" from spanish). Conclusion: I can't get this method to work with a multiboot DVD. Has anyone found an answer for this yet?
