  1. At home I have two widescreens. Use them for my photography work, one for editing, other for browsing via Bridge. If I am not doing that then I am using one for Web and one for Email, or one for Web, One for Music...and so on!

At my other work I have 3 monitors, IT Technician, so I use left for Remote Desktop, Middle for Web, general work, and right one for Email...(mainly - on a day to day basis). Sometimes I use 2 for Remote and one for Web...and so on!

  2. Ok, fixed it!

It could have been one of the two:

I reseated the card, and also gave it power directly from the PSU via a new cable - before it was connected to a molex that was also powering other devices.

I'm going to say it was the power cable, giving it a direct feed with no other devices running off it.

  3. Recently got a Transcend USB 3 controller card.

Installed in the motherboard fine, attached the Molex Power Lead.

Every time I boot my computer the controller fails with 'Power Surge on Hub Port'

    Driver version is 2.1.29.0

Firmware of the controller is 4015.

Installing on an ASUS P5Q-E under Windows 7 x64

    Any ideas???

  4. Yeh, its very strange, been testing with different browsers and IE9 DOES block the images, as it renders th epage differently, the thumbs with IE9 come from ACTUAL URL's, for example:

    http://img.youtube.com/vi/zGii3arUoY4/default.jpg

So the images get blocked as youtube is blocked. FF, Chrome and IE8 all render them with

    data:image/jpeg;base64,/

It does appear we will have to block Google and use Bing instead, we have been able to block those videos and images with ease.

  5. Hey guys, need a lil help!

On our network were trying to block Google Video Search results.

We have blocked video.google.com etc etc, but when you do a web search and then click on Videos, it shows the results, so if someone was to search for something, shall we say, naughty, it shows the thumbnail of that video, the video itself is blocked, but it still shows the thumbnail, and turning off safe search makes it even worse as you can imagine!

Does anyone have any idea of the URL we need to block these thumbnails? We have done Image results fine, just really struggling with videos.

Were using Websense Hosted Security, waiting for them to come back to us, but cant find the answer anywhere yet, so thought I would ask here for any guidance!

    Cheers!

  6. I was another person to hate Vista, I had problems after problems with it, not to mention the crap performance with it. Windows 7 however I loved from day one of using the Beta. You can just see how crap Vista was by how GOOD 7 is.

Havent had any problems with it at all. Running 64bit Home Premium at home, and 32bit Professional at work on both PC and Laptop.

  7. It's an online, real-time collaboration tool... And yeah, it's neat, but it's still buggy as hell and I haven't really found a real use for it yet. :P

    Ditto to that.

It has great potential, if you can find a use for it :P

  9. i agree that win7 is nice and more secure, but it is certanly NOT a step forward.

the bad image of Vista allowed them to continue with same approach but only changed appearance

You are free to your opinion, but I would think most folks here would disagree with you on both of these statements, myself included.

Defo, Vista WAS a step forward, even though I hated it (reasons already explained), Windows 7 was another step forward which made even more people move from XP.

Funny how people moan about specifications for an OS. When a new top spec game comes out, people are willing to go out and buy a new graphics card, more ram etc. Then when its an OS, people moan, saying it takes up to many resources etc...a new top spec OS WILL require more RAM etc than what your used to with XP or 2000. Move on, new programs require new specs.

  10. When Windows 7 was first available, I dual-booted with XP.

Within 30 minutes of using Windows 7, I knew I'd never be going back to XP.

    Ditto.

When I tried 7, straight away I loved it.

I hated Vista with a passion, sluggish, buggy, horrible to use.

People say, well your PC may not have been "up to spec", well I'm now running 7 64bit on the same PC I tried Vista 64bit on (I tried Vista several times, only to hate it more each time), and it runs smooth as XP, but with all the shine Windows now has. I now use 7 at home and at work, both of which run 7 smooth as ever.

All you have to do is look how many people love 7 and how well it has taken off to show how hated Vista truely was. I don't think it has anything to do with "specs".

  11. Ive been use to having my recycle bin in my start menu under Windows XP, but cant seem to get it in the Start Menu of Windows 7. Plenty of people putting it in the new Task Bar, but what about the start menu? Also, putting it in the task bar makes it that little bit taller which I dont like.

  12. Win7 final will be out worldwide on 22 October.

    Cheers mate.

    :thumbup

lol i already have a fully activated windows 7 and have been running it about a month and i get all updates

So do a lot of Students, Universities, Schools, Colleges...I have it running right now at work, full version.

  13. A lot of people also don't like the static bootscreen

I don't like it either... :blushing:

Thats also one of few thinsg that gets unticked on installation!

I would like a Windows 7 Style boot screen :P simple and smart, but thats me!

  14. This happened to me once when I moved froma n old version to a newer one. Just export your contacts from the Contacts > Export option. (I think thast where it is). Then re-import them into the new one.

You will lose your groups if you have any set up.
