It's been a while since I've been on the forum... I've moved a couple times, revised my Unattended WinXPDVD 14 times, it's beautiful... can't wait for a HD/Blu-Ray burner Now I'm curious to know if there's a way I can create a CD that can automatically perform a few maintenance processes... for example: most of us know about BartPE, and running Windows XP from a thumbdrive... I want to be able to insert my thumbdrive / maintenance CD and have it automatically perform the following processes: Ad-Aware SE scan, remove any spyware, exit Spybot S&D scan, remove of any spyware, exit AVG scan & removal of any viruses, exit Defrag, exit Message alert: "Process complete" that's the basic idea of what I'd like to do... on my UAWINXPDVD, it installs Ad-Aware, Spybot, AVG, etc... I can set it up to run at certain times of the day, etc... but i'd like to: a.) not to have to INSTALL these programs on the machine (I'm aware that i'll have to make new CD's with updated defenitions) b.) throw the disc in the machine and autorun.ini calls a batch file (or similar) that performs the above tasks c.) work on multiple machines throughout my house is this possible?? thanks!

but i'm not using nLite or RyanVM's update packs (yet) ... the RVM packs cause installation errors for some reason (problems with copying some files [kodak.somethin or other, srgb.icm, streamci.dll, etc.. the list gets longer]) I don't know what the deal is... I'll search for GDIPLUS right now... get back soon

have you tried formatting the flash drive and porting all the files onto it? it'll act like a harddrive once it's in, I know my computer says "Boot devices have change, enter setup to make necessary changes" or whatever whenever I have my thumbdrive in during a restart... there's also a way to install windows TO a flashdrive, which I'll be doing later mwuahahaha

This needs to be set to: UnattendSwitch = Yes as for this: [GuiUnattended] OemSkipWelcome = 1 it has nothing to do with the welcome screen... it should be set to 1 if OEMPreInstall = YES, and set to 0 if OEMPreInstall = NO... having it any other way will halt the installation process... as for your nLite question, I'm not sure what you're talking about... I used nLite as my quick guide for the first time, then just used MSFN's unattended guide and started from scratch.. you have much more conrtol, and it's very detailed... find it here Hope this helps you! I've posted on this before but didn't get anywhere with the help i was receiving... I've tried better media, reburning on different discs, reburning different ISOs... but everytime I try something, when I install straight from the ISO into a virtual machine without burning to a DVD, it works... when I burn the image to a DVD and install to the same virtual machine, it doesn't work... I've read about somebody else having this same problem, a few people actually, and one of them took out some of the programs that were being installed by WPI and it worked again... has anybody else had this problem? it seems to be very rare, and there's no direct cause for it that I can find... but I've got so many programs that WPI installs, I just can't see myself starting over from scratch... especially since my original disc is fubarred please help - Thanks! - TruRomeo4Juliet

it'd take longer to test the cd on your actual machine only to find out that you messed up and have to start over and try again... use a virtual machine, you'll thank yourself in the long run

will either of these instructions automatically make the disk bootable, or do I need to add something else to make it so? B)

I new the benefits of SATA hardware wise, but I never new you had to install drivers to take advantage of it I've got a 74.4GB WD Raptor drive and didn't install the drivers for it cuz it's OEM time to install!!!!!!

forget x64... they basically dropped support for it when they decided to go for Longhorn/Vista (which my neighbor and the company he works for gets to beta test... lucky scum ^_^) quick question though... why does everyone need to install SATA drivers? what's the advantage? thanks! - Tru

It's good for newbies... And for people (like me) who want ideas as to what to put in an unattended installer cd/dvd, and not just one person's option on the matter <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see your point o_O
