  1. Hi folks, don't know if this will be possible in VB, but here's the scoop: I'd like to put lots of images (.jpg's) in to a .DAT file (or similar) and then use VB to load said images. My problem is that I'm not sure how to: (A) Put images in a DAT/Container and (B) how to get VB to call them. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be greatful. Reason for this is that I don't want the end users to look through the directories to find the images and don't want to make like 200+ image controls in VB! Thanks in advance. PS. If this can't be achieved in VB, would C# work?
  2. I currently use Windows 2000 SP4 Rollout 1. Can this just be applied right away? Nothing else needs doing? Note that since I put 2000 on, it has not connected to the Internet so it's not got any updates since Rollout 1. Reason I'm asking is because I saw the "Let's keep Windows 2000 alive" topic and saw things like Service Pack 5 etc.
  3. Hi folks. I know VB6 is old but I still like it just for messing around with! Anyways, I have an Access Database with usernames, passwords and "permissions". Basically I want VB6 to check the database for login details and, if they match, login. What I then like to happen is for VB6 to display different forms/options depending on what is set in "permissions". In Access this is setup as a TRUE/FALSE field. So if field X = True then load up X data in VB6 and hide Y and Z etc etc. Can someone point me in the right direction of how to do this? If this is not possible at all in VB6, I can update to VB2010. Thanks for your time.
  4. Thanks for the reply's folks. Without running memtest I took the RAM out and gave it a clean (there was dust on the connectors). After this (and a PC de-dusting) my PC is back to normal. Thanks for the help.
  5. Nothing out of the ordinary in Event Viewer, I had task manager opened one night to check for CPU/RAM spikes but they were normal.
  6. Hi guys, got a bit of an issue with my PC. Spec is Windows 7 x64, 4GB RAM, nVidia 8800 GPU, AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.4GHz and a 1TB HDD and 130GB HDD. Story is, my PC boots up fine, no problem, logs in fine too. However, after about 2 - 10 mins, Windows freezes. No warning, no error, nothing! Power is still going to the PC. Ran ScanDisk on both drives but they came out clean. Ran Disk Defrag, no problems found. This also happens in SafeMode. No strange things found in MSCONFIG, Startup Folder, Registry. Virus scan ran, nothing found. I have 2 theories: 1. My room is too cold for the PC to operate* (but if this was the case, the PC just wouldn't power on, would it?) 2. PC might need cleaning. *The weather in the UK has been really low these past few days and this issue only happened at the beginning of the week as the temp lowered. Thanks in advance for your help. -FireFox276
  7. Hi! The beta of Messenger/Essentials Wave 4 is now out, huzzah! Well, not really, after about 3 mins of using messenger, I get disconnected from my Wireless Router. Windows 7 (x64) can't detect my wireless router after I've been disconnected although all my other wi-fi equipment (Xbox 360, iPhone, netbook etc) are still connected. After rebooting, Windows 7 still cannot detect my router. I have to go and manually reboot it. Has anyone experienced this? Also, does anyone know how I can submit this as a bug to Microsoft? Many thanks.
  8. Hi folks, I've been using VB6 for years but, I guess it's time to move on! I tried VB.Net but it's so drastically different (to me) compared to VB6. Some of my friends/colleagues have sugested I try Visual C#. My question is, is C# difficult to leard/code compared to VB.Net? Thanks for your time :3
  9. Folks, Just got an e-mail saying Windows 7 RC is available now for MSDN and TechNet subscribers. The public RC will be out on May 5th and the download/keys will be available until June 30th.

  11. I've been having this problem for abit but I've yet to find a solution. When I try and add a Label object to a Frame, the label always appears behind the Frame! Even when I right-click on the Frame/Label and click Send to Back/Front, nothing seems to change. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks much! -FireFox276 EDIT: Forgot to mention this is VB6!
  12. Its formating now and I've assigned it a letter. Thanks for your help. Much appriciated
  13. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/Fir...276/diskman.jpg - screenshot of my disk management. There was nothing on the disk to begin with. Please note that the drive "LACIE (E: )" is a removeable drive. The "unallocated" drive doesn't appear in the top list, but is there in the bottom. I can't assign drive letters or format the drive using the bottom section. Any sugesstions?
  14. Greetings. I have just installed Vista Beta 2 (RC1 is in the mail), and I've got a 2nd HDD installed. The problem is, is that the drive doesn't appear in "Computer", however, it IS displayed in Device Manager. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue so that the drive is accesable from "Computer"? Thanks in advance. UPDATE: The drive is in the Disk Manager in the Computer Manager, but the drive is "Unallocated". What do I do from here? PS. Appologies if I sound n00bish!
