  1. Hey,

I messed up my open commands with these three branches in the registry when testing out xyplorer.

Will someone please help me restore them to the defaults? I don't have quick access to another machine to get these branches.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shell

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\shell

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Folder\shell

    Thanks a lot :hello: ,

    matthew

edit: I managed to get these. Here they are incase anyone else wants:

  2. Hey guys,

I had this trojan that created itself along with an autorun.inf on all drives (and all usb removable drives that were inserted into my pc). I have one hard disk that is partitioned into c: and d: , and I formatted and reinstalled windows on c:\ thinking it would clear it up. Oddly enough, when I had winxp reloaded, d: still had the exe and autorun.inf there. So, it corrupted my windows install/process list when I viewed my d: drive.

To get rid of it, I opened a dialog and checked the box to deny the writing of d: for the admins group and system. I left that open, and brought up the explorer window with d:\ showing the exe file and the autorun.inf file. I selected them both, deleted, and quickly hit apply on the permissions dialog box for d:\. So, the files didn't get recreated.

I formatted c:, and reinstalled windows again, and now the two files and hidden process in windows is gone. The only problem is windows still has the denied permissions for writing to d:\ set (see img below). I was surprised that these permissions were still existing after a reinstall. Anyone have a solution for me? I believe the only thing remaining to do is restore my writing permissions for my admin&system groups.

    Thanks,

    Matthew K

  3. Hello :hello:

    Any MP users here?

    MPlayer: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

    Screenshot: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/images/screenshots/WindowsXP-02.jpg

    Media Player Classic: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ackage_id=84358

    Screenshot: http://images.memoclic.com/gif/win/mpc_12.gif

I've used media player classic (mpc) for quite a while now. I'm always looking for a change when there are new features but keeping the application slim. So, I'm wondering what experience you users have with MP vs MPC?

    Thanks for input :thumbup

Also, I would like to welcome skins and tweaks to improve the usability of either of these applications that any of you might be using. :

  4. Type this at a command prompt.

    net stop w32time

    System error 1060 has occurred.

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

    w32tm.exe /unregister

Windows cannot find 'w32tm.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

The time is off by hours etc. I am pretty sure that it is because of the DST change this year. And, the windows time service must be needed in order for the microsoft update to work? If anyone knows, I would like to be taught on this. Thank you

  5. Change the battery on your motherboard.

Maybe that is a solution in 'some' cases that you've seen. But, my girlfriend has the same problem on her laptop. I had used my custom windows cd on her laptop as well. Does anyone have some other knowledge about this? I don't think both pc's are needing new batteries.

  6. Hello,

My computer clock time is wrong everytime I reboot. I am currently using atomic clock sync program to fix it each time i reboot using my internet connection. This is very annoying though. I read it was due to the DST for 2007 changing. I installed the patch from microsoft, but I had removed my windows time service with nlite on this installation. So, I'm wondering is that needed in order for the patch to work?

    Here's the nlite posting: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=99367

    Thanks :)

  7. Hello,

I removed the windows time service from my installation, and now I am having issues with the time not being correct. I wonder if it's because I removed the windows time service and with the change in daylight savings time for the year 2007. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks :)

    Matthew K

  8. I think you should have extracted the files to %programfiles%\lanman or %windir%\system32 rather than "\program files\".

I don't know why 400kb applications are used for these operations.

I have a shortcut to my control panel (1kb .lnk file) named "cp" in my system32, so I start->run, cp to go to control panel.

    For shutdown, I have a shortcut named sdown in system32 targetted to "%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00".

    Likewise, rboot, targetted to "%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -r -t 00".

    shutdown.7z

  9. I have a text field on a webpage that I'm using for Active Desktop. When I load the webpage in my browser, focus is given to the text field. But, on my desktop, I have to click the text field in order to gain focus. It seems to show it after I boot up or refresh the webpage. But, when I do Winkey+d to minimize everything, it does not give focus to the text field.

    thanks :hello:

  10. I would like a run box on my desktop behind all of the windows. I would like the text field of it to always be active when no windows are actively showing.

Currently, I'm using desktop sidebar (http://www.desktopsidebar.com) with the run box panel (undocked). I have the sidebar on autohide and set so that it will never show. I don't mind the memory usage from it, but the panel with desktop sidebar, even when undocked, does not always show an active text field (the panel denotes to use winkey+q or mouse to activate the textfield).

    Can someone help? Thanks :hello:
