  1. well, im not sure about which type of case for external driver, but get a maxtor hard drive. i got one of those in my pc and its running perfectly. i bought a western digital drive 6 months ago and it seems to be dieing on me. its making odd noises lol. should have bought a maxtor.

    [Edit]

the icybox does not seem to be hot-swappable (according to the site), the other site says it clearly that it is. choose the drive that does what you want and need. i personaly would go with the Venus becuase of the hot-swap.

  2. so u mean like a scam to make regular users who are not in the technology loop upgrade to this becuase they think its a completely new program?

hehe had to day it :P:whistle:

    [edit]

after checking the blog, these new features will be completely useless to me becuase all i need is a list of online/offline, and webcam/audio/file transfer support.

  3. i have nothing against microsoft, i just found it funny lol. i actualy dislike the apple mac os, but the hardware for their pcs (pc means personal computer for those who forgot) is sweet lol. im just weird

  4. yea... but i want to have them both synced up with the same data constantly. the problem now is that the internet at the other location is not dial-up (**** people shut it down lol). so now i think ill just have her export the stats to her usb drive, then load them up on the other pc. simplest way.

  5. cant lower the video card, thats the only one :P and im upping the ram to 1 gig, now that i think it over. www.tomshardware.com helped me make up my mind lol.

i cant really get a link cuz its like, my settings lol. i can give the link and request number. its an alienware pc (and please, no one tell me to go to dell, the've been p***ing me off like mad these day)

  6. here it is:

    Intel® Pentium® M 740 1.73GHz 2MB L2 Cache 533MHz FSB

    17" WideXGA 1280 x 800 LCD

    Intel® 915PM + ICH6 Chipset mobo

    80GB 5400 RPM SATA hd

    256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 6800

    8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo

    1024 MB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz

this pc is not for high end gaming. its a work computer to run moderate games.

    opinions welcome :)

  7. gamehead, you confused me lol.

to clear up what i said before, you set up your hamachi network. once that it done, you set up a proxy server on one of your pcs. as you know, proxy servers forward all trafic through that computer, so you set your internet to go though that proxy server.

    link to hamachi topic

    if u need a diagram

[your pc] ------- Hamachi tunnel ---- [other pc on hamachi network running free proxy ] ------->internet

your forcing your date through the hamachi tunnel, instead of directly out to the internet

  8. Im going to get myself a laptop soon, and i would like to have a vpn tunnel that i can use for those days i need to connect to my home network shares, or use a secure tunnel over the internet from my location. i have found a few options, i just need an opinion for which would be the best.

Hamachi - makes virtual secure wan networks, needs a central cerver to make connections (so far its working fine with me, server could possibly go down is a down side)

ipig - ill set up my own server, connect to it using the client, looks like it works better for forwarding traffic, not sure if it connects to network shares.

open vpn - no idea how to set it up, still waiting for the security now episode about it lol

at the moment, i think Hamachi is the best bet, but i dont know what to do if the central server dies. i could use ipig as a back-up, but im not in the mood for 5 network adaptors lol. also, i have to forward all the ports through the hamachi tunnel. just wondering what your opinions are.
