  1. Just retired my Mitsubishi 19" CRT after 6 years of great service. Got a Samsung SynMaster 225BW (22" wide) WOW am I impressed, it's very bright and amazingly sharp at 1680 x 1050, 8 ms refresh should be pretty good with games and Internet is graet with the wide screen. Should be really good with Vista (yes, I know its crap)
  2. Try giving Google a try (try ALC650 drivers) http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx? Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3& GetDown=false]http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...p; GetDown=false Cut and paste the URL above, Site 1 and GO - It is a very slow download site.
  3. Why not try this program: http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm It allows you do remove temp files,Internet temps, clear pagefile when you shut the machine down. and a bunch of other things and IT'S FREE
  4. Strange, when the beta was running they posted XP 32 & 64 and 2003. I will see if there is anything on the MS Admin site. I thing the user above is using 2003 as his workstation machine and needs to play tunes.
  5. I did a project recently where the Cable Puller (an Electrician) pulled short. He pulled a few cables short of the patch panel. I did the same as you, punched a Cat5e end onto the cable and made my own cable to the patch panel. If you can, use a short patch cable rather than a "home made" cable. p.s. The above passed on a Fluke test.
  6. Wiring for RJ45 plugs Looking from the non clip side, left is #1 ID# Wire color (Both Ends) 1 White/Orange 2 Orange/White 3 White/Green 4 Blue/White 5 White/Blue 6 Green/White 7 White/Brown 8 Brown/White e.g. White wire with Orange stripe == White/Orange Orange wire with White Stripe == Orange/White Setup the wires as above, hold and trim using side cutters to 5/8” Push all the way into the clip and check the wires: White – Color – White – Color all the way along.
  7. Always boot to SAFE MODE to use any Antivirus or Spyware product. Reason: In Safe Mode, nothing is loaded and the Anti*.* progs can delete it. Good luck
  8. I always use a RETAIL CD with RyanVM, Nlite and BTS Driverpacks integrated, hate the Restore Disks. Always use the Sticker Key # and then call Microsoft for an activation code based on the # on the case. Never had a problem. Also if you use a "DriverPack" disk it finds all the drivers. http://www.driverpacks.net/ http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/ http://www.nliteos.com/download.html It's kinda fun to play with the "unattended install" stuff
  9. Sorry to put you down but this is not a Warez forum, the members her will not answer questions like yours. The members here abide by the rules and have legal copies.
  10. Play it safe. As mentioned above, remove the hard drive and find a friend who will add it into his/her system as a slave drive and backup all the pictures and data files you need. Buy a new copy of Windows Home or Pro and do a clean install. It sounds as if the guy who installed the original non-legal version probably did not know what he was doing and a clean install ALWAYS runs better. Another option is to download Bart PE disk on a friends PC and build a Boot CD, if an external USB HD etc. is plugged in when the PC boots it will see it. Good luck
  11. If you are using the same key I have to assume you are working for a large company or school ????

    BSOD

Been using Vista for about 6 months in various Beta releases and had a lot of problems. However, RC1 seems very stable if you do the following: Use Wipe Disk or similar to write 0's to the hard drive. Run Memtest86+ and make sure the memory is good. Run the manufacture's hard drive test on the hard disk. Do not overclock the MB. Aslo remember that Vista is a work in progress. p.s. The new RC1 runs 3 times faster than Beta 2 and has not crashed my test machines at all.
  13. This is Microsoft's anti-piracy at work. If you have a lot a PC's that have the same motherboard etc. you can use a Ghost image. If you are trying to put that image on several DIFFERENT PC's then it will not work. You need to purchase a license key for each machine you Ghost to. If you are a system builder and buy XP in 3 or 10 packs, it comes with a Sysprep CD that you can run before imaging that will ask for a new key # and the user name when you restore. If you are asking for help with piracy of XP you will find NO HELP on this forum.
  14. Have had several Power Supplies recently that suffer from "Blown Capacitors" usually found on motherboards. They run for a little while and then shut down with no warning, they can also do other strange things while Windows is running. Replaced it with a good make and the problems went away. If you have a really good friend, ask him/her if you can "borrow" their unit and test it.
  15. On a working PC: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html (Download and run the Basic EXE ver and follow instructions) Boot from this CD in the "BAD" PC When the main screen comes up (wait for the HD light to stop): Programs System Information Keyfinder PE Browse to c:\windows Keep this disk handy, if there is a USB external HD plugged in at boot time you can open one of the many disk management programs and copy in a Windows enviroment files to that external drive
  16. I made an assumption: No exclamation marks in Device Manager Service Pack 2 installed Moral: Never make assumptions
  17. It's probably trying to use a drive letter that is already in use. RIGHT click My Computer Left click Manage Left click Disk Management Find and then right click on your drive Left click on Change Drive Letter and Paths and choose a new drive letter I see this nearly every day and I agree, it's frustrating and I wish Microsoft would fix it.
  18. Everytime I buy an OEM 3 pack or 10 pack I get a Win PE disk. Did I miss something in your posts !!!!
  19. What your download did was to load the latest WGA files that link to a Microsoft database of Corp #'s that have "escaped" to the wild, yours is on of them. The activation works when you installed, all the Corp versions do. However, they fail the WGA check. As one of the answers above said, buy a legal copy. Microsoft will sell you a key # on-line for $149.00, cheaper to buy one on the Internet.
  20. Kinda on the same lines, I am trying to integrate an SIS IDE driver with Nlite (without success) Are there any links explaining how to do this or is there a 4-5 line explanation anyone can give me. Thanks in advance
  21. I have been using Sysprep for about 2 years, I create an image, "Reseal" it and use it for XP Home installs, all on the same mobo etc., really basic stuff. My last 4 attempts give me an "msoobe.exe application error" as the PC starts up. (The exception unknown software exception (0x06d007e) occured etc.) I am able to create my image on the server after Sysprep but the above happens after Restore. I know "msoobe.exe" is the dreaded WGA crap, it gets in during the post install as I am installing all my other stuff. Short of keeping the NIC unplugged, is there any other way to fix this. Is there a version of Sysprep that knows about WGA ??? WGA is there to stop piracy, I know that. But Microsoft should test this stuff with their own products.
  22. It's the old story, you get what you pay for !!!! If you buy cheap parts the will fail a lot quicker than better parts, I have have seen a LOT of Mobo's with blown caps, all cheap Mobo's CPU's only have 30-90 day warranties, boxed have a 3 year warranty and the list goes on, save a little more and buy better parts.
  23. Everything from 6 inches to 15 feet. http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/searchall.asp?sort=rev
  24. Have the Beta 2 version of Vista and did a clean install after using "Wipe Disk" Took 45 minutes plus to format and load. NO Problems. Did and install over a previous XP install and the thing freaked out. (I installed Vista 64 over XP 32) Not really impressed at the moment as a lot of things seem to be "hidden" an difficult to find. Same with Office 2007.
  25. Right click "My Computer" "Manage" "Disk Management" If the flash drive shows at the top all is OK It will probably have the same drive letter as an already mapped drive Right click on it and: "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." Change it to an unused drive letter. I think this is an XP bug..
