  1. Hi

Sorry for this but i was just woundering how a command line in a batch file would look like if i want it to automaticly answer Yes or No.

    I have a batch file i made (cleanup.cmd)

but some of the commands prompt me like this: (är du säker J/N?)

whitch is Swedish for (Are you sure Y/N?)

so a line like this prompt me to answer Yes or No:

    DEL "%systemroot%\Web\Wallpaper\*.*"

How would the line look if i want it to automaticly say Yes?

Ill try to search in cmd help some more in the meenwhile

    EDIT:

    is this right?

    DEL "%systemroot%\Web\Wallpaper\*.* /Q"

    Thanx

  2. I appriciate your replies guys but i still dont get it.

Call me dumb, call me an id*** but fact remains i dont get it?

What do you meen core of os

Like i install Win XP using my orginal cd on Virtual PC first?

Then "save image" i am all lost what image?

then test what you need... whaaa i am all lost

Sorry for this but if i could just understand this i would finish this UA DVD soooo much sooner :)

Maby i need a fool proof id*** guid whit pics and stuff :) haha no but seriously. maby a little mini guide atleast!

    Thanx alot

  3. Hi

As i am sitting here waiting for my Virtual PC to finish installing Windows XP for the 10000 time i was thinking, is there a easier and faster way to test the changes i have made.

As for now when i test the changes i have done is:

    1. Make an ISO of everything

    2. Start up Virtual PC

    3. Reboot it and load up the Windows text install

    4. Install it (witch takes AGES)

Possible to just keep all my apps i have in the ISO in C:\Install\Applications and then run runonceex.cmd and reboot? would that do the trick for changes to atleast THAT file?

Any idea´s or am i just beeing a "lazy f*ck"

  4. Oki doki

But how would such a line in RunOnceEx look like?

maby? (if i have a copy of tweaks.reg in my &OEM%\%1\Install dir)

REG ADD %KEY%\100 /VE /D "Registry Changes and Tweaks" /f
    REG ADD %KEY%\100 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\REGEDIT32.EXE /S tweaks.reg" /f

or? (if i use the same copy of tweaks.reg as in the cmdlines.txt)

REG ADD %KEY%\100 /VE /D "Registry Changes and Tweaks" /f
    REG ADD %KEY%\100 /V 1 /D "REGEDIT32.EXE /S tweaks.reg" /f

or have i got it all wrong?

OHHH Important!!!!! WHERE in the RunOnceEx should i run it??? last? befor or after cleanup.cmd or?

    Thanx

  5. Hello

Okey i have read through out the forum that some of you apply your regtweaks 2 times, from different locations! becourse some tweaks dont "stick"

Well i was woundering what this is all about since my tweaks dont seems to apply as i would like!

I run my cmdlines.txt like this:

    [COMMANDS]
    "REGEDIT32.EXE /S tweaks.reg"
    "RunOnceEx.cmd"

and i dont know how many of them acctually get stuck!

so where, when and how would i apply them a second time for the best result.

    Thanx ppl

  6. Okey i have searched the forum and several threads came up but no one of them explained my problem, witch i think is strange.

I just got my self a "new" PC so i would like to test my DVD ISO live and not just only Virtual PC

Okey so the ISO is not final yet but in Virtual PC it boots and it installs

but when i burn the ISO image in Nero using (open file > winxp.iso > burn image)

It don´t boot on my "Live" PC. Just says "Boot from CD..." and nothing happends?

Am i burning the ISO wrong or what could be the problem?

I have read through http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/ aswell

    And it didn´t work!

I am totally lost here guys?! I really need this to work whit DVD, can´t go back to CD

    Help! :(:}

EDIT: One other thing i tried to make a ISO whit nLite and then i tried to burn it in Nero using the same DVD-RW disc i used before, and even though i have Fully erased it using Nero it still tells me that the disc is not empty and the burn process fails :( Maby a bit offtopic but still you guys might know whats wrong?

    Thanx ppl

  7. Hello

Okey i have this problem now!

When trying to install everything seems fine until its time for The Applications install post and Cleanup process.

When Windows is trying to install the updates: Framework ASP, languagepack, High-Mat and Media Connect it says it can´t install becouse i dont have Admin rights.

And then later when its time for the Cleanup.cmd procces it hangs!

    Here are my files:

Also i should say that i am using the SWEDISH version of windos XP SP2 if dir names and other names should matter!!!!

    Thanx people!

  8. He he i have been busy with other things and when i look now you guys have really put some effort in this.

Thanx i will try all your tips!

EDIT: I have now tested your vbs script Gunsmokingman and your "last" command line" tip Yzöwl. Both worx like a charm but i think the command line is better, less code and i can keep it inside my cleanup.cmd file right?

Its okey to just paste in the

    @echo off
    pushd %systemroot%
    for %%a in ("*.log") do if %%a neq windowsupdate.log del /q "%%~a"
    popd
    goto :eof

    inside my cleanup.cmd file right?

or do i need to remove the @echo off and goto:eof??

or do i just need to call this seperate file from cleanup.cmd? and if so do i need to add something to ether file so it returns to the cleanup.cmd file when finished?

Thanx again for all your help guys :hello:

  9. Martin Zugec

    Okey i actually did this

I did a file called test.cmd in my root (c:\)

then i put your command line in it and ended it whit pause

then i change the *.log entries in the cmd file to *.qaz

    (and WindowsUpdate.log to WindowsUpdate.qaz)

then i just created some *.qaz files and the WindowsUpdate.qaz in my windows dir

then i executed the test.cmd file and it didnt work

I did this just to test and see if it did indeed deleate just the other *.qaz files but not the WindowsUpdate.qaz

    I use Windows XP sp2

  10. Hey Martin Zugec

I tried your command but it seems to search for the files in C:\...

    So nothing happends!

I changed the %windir% to %systemroot% and i tried to specify it whit: C:\Windows in your command line...

do i need to execute it from somewhere special?

    gunsmokingman

i haven´t tried yours yet. but if i want this script for say *.txt files i just change the *.log from everywhere in the script to *.txt right and then use the little ' mark on the letter of the filename i want to exclude right? And its alright to call upon this from cleanup.cmd right?

    thanx

  11. Hi

I was just woundering if there is a command to exclude one or two files when i use the:

    DEL "%systemroot%\*.log"

I dont want the WindowsUpdate.log to be deleted

Or do i then have to specify ALL the different *.log files i want to be deleted?

And if i want to keep more than one file, how do i specify that?

Also what are the different "Easy Paths"? like:

    %systemroot% = Windows dir

%windir% = Is this the same? (dont know)

%systemdrive% = X:\ (where x is the drive that windows is installed to)

    %ProgramFiles% = Program dir (specified in winnt.sif)

%CommonProgramFiles% = Common Program files dir (can also be specified in winnt.sif)

    %CDROM% = The CDRom Drive

I am doing my Cleanup.cmd file now and paths like the ones above can really help

but the main question is main priority ;)

    Thanx people!
