  1. Does it mean that I can't use your version of itunes if I want to use my ipod/iphone?
    No it mean you need to install "AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi" to have iTouch and iPhone supported. iPod can work without the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.

    Where to get the last version of it?

    And if i underatand right so there is no point to install this version + apple mobile device support cuz the original version will be the same?

    I was thinking to install this version to avoid too many services in windows.

    Well, my installers are customized to not run iTunes helper and the iPod service at startup, among other things.

    Besides, without them, you would need to install the original QuickTime. If you use my installers, you can install QuickTime Alternative which is much much better.

    If Mobile Device Support (remember that it is not needed for regular iPods, only iPhones/iTouchs) install services, you can set them to manual startup so they will be ran on-demand and not at every system startup. I don't know if it installs services, though.

  2. And don't forget to export settings from the registry. TuneUp sets up a service or two that you may not need.

    Also, it schedules an automatic scan for temp files, disk defrag and other things. I modified the MSI so that it doesn't schedule this but I can't remember what I did because I don't use it anymore.

  3. So you had problems with the modem connected via USB to your computer?

    My wireless router is not working right now and I have my cable modem connected to the motherboard via Ethernet and I had to install Windows 7 last week. The installation went without any hassles.

  4. My motherboard just fried last week and I had problems with Windows 7 recognizing and installing everything.

    It took about 6 hours of seeing the installging drivers and it didn't install everything.

    It is recommended to make clean installs, be it XP, Vista or now 7.

    If you just change video, sound card or memory, you will be just fine without a clean install.

  5. I'm finishing the iTunes 9.0.1.8 installers right now. I will include Application Support in them.

    Also, I'm making just one installer for x86 and one for x64. Making English and Multilanguage separated takes

    some time I don't have much right now.

    I haven't tried QT Lite 3.0.0 Beta 2 but some guys sent me mails saying that it is working so far.

  6. I hate to break it to you, but Quicktime Alternative is still Quicktime. It doesn't have the QuickTime Player (<1MB ?) or the language files but everything else is basically the same.

    What's the big fuss anyway? You don't have to use quicktime if you don't want.

    Ok, I know that but I thought that many of use use QuickTime Alternative to watch streaming videos and to play mov files locally.

    I just offered and alternative with already-made installers. Its a matter of choice for everyone.

  7. You still install QuickTime, this way you don't have too.

    No, QuickTime is not installed.

    The only thing needed is QuickTime Alternative which provides not only functionality to iTunes.

    By the way, the releases are ready. Get them on the links in my signature.

  8. You can use the documentation of WAIK which covers almost everything you need to know.

    I use this code to get Windows to look for drivers:

    	<settings pass="offlineServicing">
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-PnpCustomizationsNonWinPE" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <DriverPaths>
    <PathAndCredentials wcm:action="add" wcm:keyValue="1">
    <Path>E:\Drivers</Path>
    </PathAndCredentials>
    <PathAndCredentials wcm:action="add" wcm:keyValue="2">
    <Path>F:\Drivers</Path>
    </PathAndCredentials>
    </DriverPaths>
    </component>
    </settings>

    You can have meny paths there, but I don't know what the limit is. Notice that every entry has an unique "keyvalue".

    I don't like to integrate drivers because I install Windows on many computers and trying to catch up with every driver and injecting it consumes a lot of time for me.

    Instead, I just get the driver I'm about to install, copy them to that path and modify the letter accordingly.

  9. Huh? Windows Explorer is not folder, it's an application. It is still present in Vista. If you cant find it in your start menu just type explorer in the run box.

    Hi

    thnaks for your reply , there isn't a run box in VISTA , well not one like XP , as in start / run, I think I will just bin VISTA and go back to XP !.

    cheers

    spike

    If you are using it for the first time, give it some time to get used to the new things and changes from XP.

    If you click Computer in the Start Menu it is the same as My PC in XP. You can also right-click it and make a shortcut on the Desktop or Quick Launch Bar.

    As with XP, you can right-click the taskbar and choose properties. There you can enable the run box in the Start Menu...

  10. I found Window Live Photo Gallery very good after being using it for a month now.

    It is fast and has plenty of features I may add.

    You can use any other image viewer out there if you don't want the viewer of WLPG.

  11. You can search for it. I'm sure you will find a lot of places to get it from.

    Be sure to search for its hashes too, so you can confirm you are using an unmodified version.
