Is there any way to suppress a reboot after using WMIC to uninstall a product?

If you log on as admin, is everything alright? May be corupt user prrofile. Create new profile and see how it is.

What problem are you having? Is the network drive mapped on the PC? What kind of network drive? Novell? Active directory? questions, questions. :

Also, you really need more ram. 256 is really not enough for XP.

Sounds like it to me. Mostly, files named with a random collection of letters like yours is are bad news.

If you do a repair, you are reinstalling windows over the original installation. Then your old registry is merged with the new registry so your shortcuts, settings and programs remain intact (mostly. I have seen some losses, but they are usually not severe.) It sounds like your upgrading your cpu, which probably means your replacing the motherboard. If this is the case, do as bonestonne suggests about backing up, then format the drive and do a completly fresh install. Never try to save the old os when replacing the mb. However, if your just upgrading the cpu wothout replacing the mb, I wouldn't worry about it. I have never had a prob with just putting in a faster proc. Finally, when you have finished reinstalling all of your software, making any tweaks, it's all just as you want it, run disk cleanup then defrag. Then use Ghost or other imaging software to make an image. Then, whenever you want, it's easy to roll your computer back to its pristine, just installed condition.

Well I solved #2 by searching for our domain in the registry and exporting it. I sure need help with the other 2 though.

In our domain, the network people have decided that certain network settings must be configured. I use Symantec Ghost and Sysprep to create images. Unfortunatly, Sysprep wipes out the required network settings. Can anyone help me discover the registry keys to acheive the following? Or, it seems that I should be able to configure these in the sysprep.inf file, but I don't know how. The settings: 1. The properties under the Local Area Connection should have the "Client for Microsoft Networks" box *unchecked*. (Question about this- what does unchecking this box do?) 2. Our domain must be listed on the DNS tab under TCP/IP Properties > Advanced > DNS 3. On this same tab, the "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" box must be *unchecked*. We do a lot of ghosting and I really need to automate these settings or they will be forgotten. I'v tried to isolate the settings using Regsnap, but there are to many differences and I don't know which ones apply to MY settings. Thanks

Using Office 2003. I have set the AutoRecover folder to C:\recover. However, the temp file is created in whatecer folder the original file is in. If the file is on the Desktop, that's where the recover file is created, the same goes if the original ios on a network drive. This is happening on PCs where I created the desktop configuration as well as unmodified PCs straight from Gateway where I just installed Office and left the default AutoRecover alone. Why won't Office use the folder I have selected? :angrym: jheibeck
