Either interesting or dumb?
Lets see, 200 million computer users in the U.S...lets say 10 % of those find a bug (and what's their qualifying definition of a 'bug' anyway and who determines if its actually a bug or not.), so we have 2 million people who find a bug...the math = 2000000 X $8000.00 = $1,600,000,000,000.00 WoW! I seriously doubt that they have that much money to lay out for something like this. Heck, all you have to do is look on the MS KB and pick out things that say "We are aware this is a problem in Vista" and then report it as a bug.
And how many computer users are aware of the term "bug" outside the context of an insect?

Are you trying to replace the "Version 2002" string with Version 2007? Because that string's located in ntoskrnl.exe...

I've remade them, and I think the new ones look even better than the old one . The original bitmap comes at 3000x2000 resolution, while the compressed JPEG has been resized to 2560x1600 to meet ImageShack's file size requirement.
Original Bitmap (8.80MB): http://msfn.yaxm.org/bliss.png
Compressed JPG (1.39MB): http://img186.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bliss2pm.jpg

Highest resolution is 1280x1024 (my native screen resolution). I've lost the original PSD file, but I'll consider remaking it at the resolution of the raw file (3000x2000) if anyone is interested. It won't be identical to the one above though, since I've already deleted that file .

Played UT 2004 yesterday. Waiting for UT 2007
What is its launch date?
Please tell some trics and secrets of ut 2004
Just search for "GNA: The Movie" (here's one link). Watching skilled players is nearly (or even more) important than just practicing. I find myself playing much better after watching that movie. Also try strafing and dodging often, and predicting where the player will be next instead of shooting where they are at the moment.

Hard drives take about 10W each. Not sure about your processor, but the two together couldn't possibly take more than 100W load. Even if your PSU works at 50% efficiency, you still have enough juice to stably run that computer.

I have no idea why the front page is devoid of any CES 2007 content. I mean like Apple just released a touch-screen iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator! I repeat...an iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator. An iPod, a phone...you get the point.
Almost forgot the link...http://news.com.com/1606-2_3-6148642.html?tag=ne.video.6148197

Most antiviruses install a filesystem filter driver as part of the detection component. My theory is that the filter driver is somehow causing ntfs.sys to crash when you're using vLite (no idea why though).
@Markus
I'm sure nuhi's more than capable of debugging the code himself .

DFI-Street's closed down permanently. They're no longer affiliated with DFI.

Some connection issues with the server. I tried www.msfn.org, a direct link to the forums, and www.msfnhosting.com and they were all down for a few minutes. Then MSFN came back up and gave me an IPB error.

A project as large as Vista is bound to have security flaws, more so than even XP, in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if a year from now, Microsoft will regret marketing "security" as one of the benefits for migrating. And though few of us will admit it, I'm sure that a majority of the tech-savvy crowd will migrate just for the sake of having the "newest" version of Windows.

They're legacy files from the 98 era. Safe to delete.

If the VM preallocated the space, then the VM "hard drive" is a file on your computer taking up 16GB. It's also possible that the virtual HD will expand as space is used up (although there's a performance hit and preallocating the space is usually recommended). In either case, it's probably nothing you need to worry about.

What I suggested was to launch the dropmyrights.exe program from a batch or VBS file and lower your rights before running the actual script.

It's a marketing strategy . They're releasing this to put Intel off-guard by having them believe AMD is not a threat. Then when they release the Intel-killer (Barcelona), Intel won't have anything ready for months on end.

I thought to recover the files from EFS you had to have a user with the same GUID and password to be able to do that?
All he said was that he had a password, which I assumed was for the account that created the pictures.

Why spend the money? Just export the data recovery certificate for the account and import it into the new computer. Once you have the certificate, you can access the files from your new computer. This is assuming the files are encrypted. If it's an issue of file permission, follow FrankE or Iceman's advice.

I've had some experience with SVS, and although it is a bit different, I'm sure you can modify it to work the way you want. It creates the virtual resources in a hidden folder on the root of your main drive, but if you can modify it so that it loads these files from a USB drive instead, then you should be able to move from computer to computer and still have things work.

What you're after is application virtualization. Basically the resources on the system (registry, files, etc) are virtualized and stored in a single file. Check out Thinstall to see if that's what you want.

thanks for the reply
for a user who only uses browser/foobar(mp3s)/VLC(avis)/msn/(occasionally some online games)
which version would perform smoothest? ultimate or basic?
i dont really need any visualeffects. i know for sure that im gonna use classic themes.
For a user that does the following tasks, I don't even see why you want to upgrade. XP can serve your needs just fine...

The previous system shutdown at %time% was unexpected.
