Seems like there's still a substantial performance decrease (-20%) with the latest Vista builds. Not as bad as the 40% decrease with earlier builds though . Nevertheless... http://www.legitreviews.com/article/385/1/
I don't recommend it. Keep it where it is. The hard drives will be cooled, but the air rushing past will warm up and increase the temperature for the rest of your computer.

Yes, I agree with LLXX. I had a monitor that exhibited similar symptoms that progressively became worse until the monitor died. The monitor had been mine for ages, and I know that I spent a few tearful nights crying over my recent loss until I got over it and went to NE to buy my new 19" LCD.
Remove the NTFS driver from the FAT32 XP. Open up regedit.exe and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Ntfs Then set the "Start" key to 4. Shouldn't be risky at all if you know what you're doing.
I think you've done your caculations wrong. Virtual memory is the amount of physical memory and memory from the swap files combined. So if you have 2GB of RAM and a 512MB page file, then your virtual memory would be 2.5GB, exactly what Task Manager reported.
