Cant get driver packs to work with a RIS install
laza replied to cheezus420's topic in The General Stuff
I did this last weekend and it worked,Windows XP with DP's M2 using Server 2003 with RIS. There is a link somewere in this new look forum? a guy did a post that works. I did a system clean with file protection off and it wiped out my C:\ lost all my links, still rebuilding the PC. The info is on this forum if you look. lazza -
This is happening to my as well, latest base cleans up some files but not all. cmdlines_fix.exe, Fedit.exe, Filecase.exe, OemPnPDriversPath.cmd, RUN_ME.cmd, I use method 2 This happen some time ago, but this time I was wondering if some program I have installed was interfering with CMD. The OS installes and works fine. Will wait and see if anyone has the same problem. laza

I cannot think of any thing else to try. All the other commands in the answer file work fine. laza

When I use WinXP SP2 Pro VLK or Corp and Ryan's Pack I have problems. When I use WinXP SP2 Pro and Ryan's Pack the install goes OK, I do a manual install of Ryan's Pack in Pro. I have been searching the forums for a fix but nothing has worked for Corp XP missing files and the install is not stable. Usually use method 1 or 2 with driver packs.

Don't know if this will help you track down your driver problem. Method 2 latest packs, as you can see the drivers are loaded and work with no install problems. @zomig: This is strange, I use the Intel 82845G Motherboard/Chipset for testing these driver packs, only difference is I have 2GHz cpu. The screen resolution is crappy until the drivers are loaded at the end of the install, last reboot. The latest methods 1 & 2 work fine for me. Siginet: not sure what you mean? I run Bâshrat the Sneaky Method 3 C:\UWXPCD3\$OEM$\cmdlines.txt and got this, ;Generated by Bashrat the Sneaky's DriverPacks [COMMANDS] "BTS_DPs_ROE.cmd" Run your cmdlines.exe, and [COMMANDS] "BTS_DPs_ROE.cmd" both were at the top of their file. Not that method 3 works for me anyaway. Maybe this is all getting a bit complicated, then the origional idea of 1 image for all hardware. Just my observations.

Tried this but no work, winntbbu loaded instead. must have done something wrong.

Hi, XPsp2 corp, I don't use nLite to slipstream sp2 do it manually. Use nLite to reduce XPsp2 corp down to 420MB no problems when install. When I use RVM hotfixes and nLite to slipstream them thats when I get the missing files thing in setup. I have no idea how to fix it.

BST, It was RUN_ME method 2 not slipstream Fast Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Hit debug 4 time RUN_ME finished and cleaned up files. I will build an ISO and do install, see how it goes. laza

BST, Just downloaded your latest FIX. At the end of slipstreaming Method 2, I get Windows error messages AppName: fedit.exe AppVer: 1.2.1.1 ModName: fedit.exe ModVer: 1.2.1.1 Offset: 0000148d Had to close 4 error boxes. Just before this stage. Bashrat the Sneaky's DriverPacks Slipstreamer - STEP 3 [DONE] A) cleanup [DONE] B) slipstreaming DriverPacks [bUSY] C) settings **** setting 1: choose method of finishing installation **** Do you want to use GUIRunOnce [G] or RunOnceEx [R] [EXPERIMENTAL] to finish the DriverPacks installation? Never had this happen before. Did not get them before latest FIX. I will download the Fix again and do another complete rebuild, and see if that works. laza

XP sp2 Method 3, when slipstreamed I selected R and N No drivers installed C:\D still present no drivers, but 3 .cmd files left in \D Method 3, when slipstreamed I selected G and N No drivers installed C:\ empty means \D was deleted Think I'll go back to testing Method 1 & 2

With the new fix, I found. DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore Were deleted from winnt.sif, had to replace them. XP sp2 nLite base image I have used before Method 2, remove driver packs. Other then these minor problem all hardware drivers were loaded.

I made a comment, about a problem few posts back. The problem was with the partition table on HDD not with the image. All drivers installed correctly method 1, it took a long time to find this. Any way everythink looks OK. laza.
