  1. Isn't there a ulz for Windows 2000 Server (SP4)?
  2. Fixed Seems like I've made a typo I searched and found a few reg settings which, as you said correctly, had a value of 8 and not 9. Guess that makes sence since backspace sometimes gave me TabCompletion.. Why I did not put those two together and figure it out myself I don't know. Now backspace works again
  3. I have installed on two (new amd64) computers, the same on both, so we can rule out bad hardware I did change the command prompt color...My regtweaks that gets installed during winxp installation are attached. REG_Tweaks_ct6.txt
  4. I've made an unattended WinXPSP2 CD using the guides on this site. I've also used some of the regtweaks collections. The thing is I think I've disabled my backspace key in command prompt somehow. I can not delete what I write in my command prompt (cmd.exe) with backspace. The only way is to use my left arrow key and then use the delete key. Anyone know where I should look to fix this? It's really annoying.
  5. As I said, this works I made myself a mp10setup.cmd file with this code in it and it works like a charm. The only thing I want to fix now is cosmetics; is it possible to hide the command prompt window that shows a few seconds? + Do you know how many times a "database" has been requested? I've heard the request and dang it, I'm working on it, but it takes time to make sure there aren't bugs in the programming as well as the search. It will be a part of the Unattended site. Now as for Step-By-Step instructions, I have to disagree. I personally am under the belief that if the member learns on their own without a direct step by step walkthrough they can then port their experiences to other software as well. People learn more from vague instructions (not too vague, but not direct either) as they have to think and problem solve (both of which is not emphasized in most educations). Now....if you would be observant (no offense meant, but more of a look this way), look at the bottom of EVERY topic and you'll see a SEARCH TOPIC box to narrow down the search even farther. NO ONE should expect a fully working applicaiton right CD after one day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Learn by doing is fine by me.. I'll manage without a complete step-by-step guide as long as I can find some steps here and some there.. But I see myself as an advanced user who learn fast, so others might need a easier step-by-step guide, but then again, one should perhaps not go about a tweaked unattended XP-CD if one doesn't know much about more advanced stuff.. again, learn-by-doing About "searc topic", I use the browsers FIND feature to find posts with my search-words.. but it is not always easy to find what you are looking for when you get 20+ posts. Oh.. I guess "Search topics" is search again inside the results? Again - the above (second post) command works for WMP10
  6. In my registry tweak file (RegistryTweaks by John Cronk aka "Johnny Do" v1.6 and v1.8) I have a setting which I don't know anything about: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "ServerAdminUI"=dword:00000000 What does it control? I haven't found out by changing it 00000001 and run it (and I have searched a lot).. Anyone?
  7. About using search more.. trust me.. I've been searching for over two hours for this.. and then I gave up.. And for the solution - thanks. Is it compatible with cmdlines.txt? Or do u install it from another "location"?
  8. I've downloaded a silent install of WMP10 from http://unattended.msfn.org/global/downloads.htm. Running it from cmdlines.txt and it works fine except it pops up complaining about System Restore being disabled. Is it possible to get around this popup? I've been searching the forums and all but haven't found a thing.
  9. Thanks for clearing this up. It was just what I wanted to know.
  10. I have a question. As I'm going through a lot of registry tweaks (mostly from the Registry Tweaks thread) I see most tweaks use [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\...] and so on. Why doesn't most tweaks tweak [HKEY_USER\.DEFAULT\....] instead? What I want to now - Does HKCU settings applied under installation (T-12/T-13) apply to all users?
  11. It worked quite well Note to myself: follow the install docs
  12. Is there a way to make 'english' the default (and only) language in IE? Normally when I have installed with a "normal" Windows XP CD IE says 'Norwegian' under 'Language Preference' (IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> [Languages..]) I want it to say 'English [en]' instead. If it ways Norwegian, I get norwegian text in pages like Windows Update. I don't want that. Obviously I want norwegian keyboard layout etc...
  13. That I don't know yet. I have made the iso, and will be installing in VMware soon. Will report back then.
  14. I've got a hp laptop and with it Win XP with SP2 included. Now I want to integrate ryanvm package into it. Well, I did and now I got several bugs/errors: - when the user is logged in I get an error saying it can't find 'framedyn.dll' and when I click OK it complains about error loading 'srclient.dll'. - Almost all menues are empty. Take start -> all programs -> accessories -> entertainment for example - it's empty. Anyone experienced any of this? Ok.. a search (which I should have done already) showed me to ryan's faq... -> I get errors involving "framedyn.dll" after integrating your SP2 update pack. <- This problem is caused when you forget to add the entries to txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf that the directions instruct you to add. Add the entries and you should be OK.
  15. Simple and medium is not what I am looking for but nice to know anyway. 'hard' is what I was looking for, and actually the one I though of myself, but gave up a few findings down the registry.. didn't know, or at least was hoping for it was only a "simple" registry line, and not 8 lines (16 actually), one for each type.. Well.. Thanks. I will actually use "both" methods, my XP Joff-Extreme Edittion with all my registry hacks will use what I was looking for (the 'hard' method) and my XP-SP2+ CD with all hotfixes after SP2 will probably use the about:blank method. Thanks again! Oh, I would also change the 'hard' way to this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\gopher\shell\open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\htmlfile\shell\Open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\HTTP\shell\open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\HTTPS\shell\open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ITS FILE\shell\Open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\xbmfile\shell\Open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\xmlfile\shell\Open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\xslfile\shell\Open\command] @="\"%ProgramFiles%\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" -nohome"In my extreme tweaked xp I have program files (and docs&settings) on D:
