  1. Sorry for taking so long in getting back. But anyway.. Is there some kind of trick to get these Windows 2008 64bit updates to install into 64bit Vista? One will install and then rejects it and the other won't install at all.
  2. OK, I'll try it again this coming weekend, I'm currently working on a Windows 2000/XP/Linux triple booting 32bit system at the moment. I had the system almost build and then had to change the motherboard along with all the drives due to it only having a PCI-E 1.1 slot instead of a PCI-E 2.0 or PCI-E 3.0 slot.
  3. I forgot to add this image on the build number.
  4. Hello, Sorry for taking so long to get back. I kind of wrecked my Windows Vista system trying to get the two Windows 2008 updates to install. Every time I installed it, It would install like normal and then after the reboot the system would state that the configuration didn't go right and revert back to the original state. I tried to force it to accept the two updates and I crashed the system beyond repair, so I'm currently reinstalling Vista at the moment. But anyway, I discovered something very interesting, the Version of 64bit Vista I have is Build 6002 which is the very first version of Vista that came out back in 2006, I purchased it on Ebay because Amazon was sold out.. The Build version that the Extended Kernel is looking for is Build 6003... The Windows 2008 updates is for build 6003. So I'm thinking that there is some kind of compatibility issue that's beyond my understanding. BTW, I didn't run the bcdedit because I was distracted by my phone ringing and I lost where I was at in following the instructions. . I'm thinking that I will probably have to install a different version of 64 bit Vista on my system to get the windows 2008 updates to install correctly.
  5. I tried this kernel replacement on Vista 64bit as well as the one for WinXP 64bit because I have both operating systems and both gave me the same error on boot up stating that the WINLOAD.exe file is not signed and there is no key to press to bypass it. I didn't use Method 1 because I was not sure about installing the 32bit WOW64 files, , so I used Method 2 by over writing the system32 files using Linux Mint 21.3. I'm glade I made a backup copy of the system files.
