  1. @Steven

    Many thanks again Steven

    @Santiih

You can Double Click on each one or go to the forums here to read for install to new OS. Stevens patches are not made for updating a already functioning system it is for updating systems that will be deployed/installed. And specifically read these articles to learn.

RT Seven Lite - RC build 1.7.0 and Beta build 2.6.0

    7Customizer - a Windows 7 Customization and Deployment tool

  2. Items I have had break since computing 1985.

3 ea. HDD all on windows boxes. Not saying windows broke them, just that was the box they broke on.

1 ea. video card cooling fan went first.

1 ea. Motherboard back when the bad caps were going around. Replaced caps and board still works today. (I'm a computer parts HOARDER.)

All my Amiga equipment still works to this day and have never had any breakage with any parts. Including my Apple emulator and 386 Bridgecard and AMD 386 DX-40.

  3. [One note though when running cable DO NOT run it in a TIGHT 90 degree shape. Two 45 degree is good and a good gradual radiused curve is even better, when going through a door run the cable underneath and bring up the other side. If your in a corner use a fake plant to hide it or a small piece of furniture.

Yep :), but the point is WHY cables should be as straight as possible. ;)

LOL That is a good one. I'll have to remember it. Like getting the caramel carbuerator cleaner for the chrome muffler bearings and fuel injected lug nuts. The old times everything was analog so it just flowed like goo!

  4. If while you are fiddling with them someone calls, you would learn about the 100 V + ring voltage, only the hard way ;).

    jaclaz

LOL, I remember that from when I was 12 years old and wanted a phone in my room.

In my last apartment after moving and waiting to buy a house I ran my Cat 5 lines all around the apartment using the following items.

1 DSL modem whichever type you may have.

    8 Port Switch http://tinyurl.com/64xs27c

1 Container of Coaxial Clips http://tinyurl.com/6349duq

    Nail Hole Filler http://tinyurl.com/3mqsety

Run 1 cable from DSL modem to your switch and run as many cables as you may need from switch to your computers. Runnining the cable up close to the wall/ceiling or baseboard area is easy using the coaxial clips listed above and when you move you pull them out and fill the holes with Nail Hole filler or wall putty or similiar. One note though when running cable DO NOT run it in a TIGHT 90 degree shape. Two 45 degree is good and a good gradual radiused curve is even better, when going through a door run the cable underneath and bring up the other side. If your in a corner use a fake plant to hide it or a small piece of furniture. A friend has ran his cable throughout his condo with the above method and has actually painted it the same color as his walls and ceiling. If you are looking for it you can see it but otherwise it is mostly hidden. Your other option is to go wireless, which for people in apartments is great. The wall outlet items that jaclaz spoke of are IMHO JUNK. I tested some for a client as that was what he was wanting and by showing him the performance of them he returned them to the store. If you look at the reviews of them they have a bad bad history of everything from not operating properly to performance annd interference issues.

  5. Another vote for LINKSYS. They are IMHO for the money the BEST. I had been using a hardwired router (BEFSR41) with switch (EZXS16W) and printer server (EPSX3) for years when they all first came out and have NEVER had a problem with them. They stack real nice also, and with the ease of setting them up it's truly the only way to go. I now have a Linksys Router (WRT54GL) for all the wireless laptops we have and have had absolutely no problems. I still have a box of Linksys (BRAND NEW) LNE100TX nics still from a purchase in 2004 just waiting as backups for a failure which hasn't happened yet. So ya, if you want your money's worth go LINKSYS!!

  6. As Tripredacus has pointed out the way of doing your project in this manner will work here at MSFN and would still benefit everyone concerned. I really like the idea of a SP4 and I'm sure it could be done and be a GREAT project. Here's an idea though. Don't LUMP everything into one package, have two packages maybe. 1 with just the normal updates and then a second one with everything. I may be only person that doesn't need all the bells and whistles so it might be a good idea to do it like I mentioned above or like the way Onepiece does his by editing certain lines if you don't want Silverlight or what ever else.

  7. Been running the following for 6 months with good results.

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz

    Western Digital Caviar Black WDBAAZ0020HNC-NRSN 2TB 7200 RPM 32MB

Having W7-Pro SP1, XP-Pro SP3, W2K-Pro SP4, W98SE and Ultimate Linux all running at the same time is sweet. There are no stability/sluggishness issues what so ever, so in time I will be putting a server on there as well. Using W7-Pro SP1 as host OS.

  8. Found what was wrong I think

    'Se7en_UA.exe 6.5.6: June 26, 2011, 12:39:38 PM
' Correct adding of exe, msi installers with $\SETUP\Scripts\Setupcomplete.cmd
' Opens tweak file after adding with notepad.
' WinCal-Win7* + WinPinball* add to REGadd. They won't run till user is loaded
' Fix adding of .bmp with Full SP1
' Checks if iso at dvd copy

Max your GREAT!!:thumbup That took care of it and I will shortly be putting together a new image later today and will post back with info.

    Thanks Again

  9. Hi everyone :hello:

I put my new system together a few weeks ago and just been letting it run with various progs running for a burn in test. Today I started the actual install of the OS (Win7 64 Bit Pro) and had it fully updated to June. Installed my Antivirus updated it and so forth. Now come to install Se7en_UA and it installs just fine, problem is it won't start. Appears to be like the same issue as Fernando1 and others have experienced, double click on icon arrow shows busy for about 2 seconds and then nothing. I did have this working fine on my old desktop but that has been wiped clean  and re-purposed for the wife. Here is what I have tried.

    Base install W7 64Bit SP0

    Base install W7 64Bit SP0 with WAIK for W7

    Base install W7 64Bit SP1

    Base install W7 64Bit SP1 with WAIK for W7

    Renaming Appswitch.new to Appswitch.dat

Deleting the ini file wich it will not re-create as the program never starts.

So yeah I messed up when wiping the old HD and probably could have transferred the install from there to here type of operation but that is now water under the bridge. I have been from page 1 of this topic to the last post on page 8 all day today regarding this issue and nothing is working. I know (If it ain't broke don't fix it) Please help!!

    My system:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

    ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX

    GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

Western Digital Caviar Black WD5002AALX 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache

    Thanks

  10. Thanks for the info Kurt.

Know the feeling of the hard drive problem all to well. That's the reason of having to rebuild this x64 system for my son. Take your time no rush as the kid is off for summer vacation from school plus if he really needs a computer we have others in the house.

Thanks Again for the Great Work!!

  11. Don't Fear The Reaper was one of those songs that just sticks in your head and never leaves. The best part of Happy Days was Fonz on that Triumph. But then so are early Harley's, BSA's, and Norton's. I guess there were episodes that had Fonzi riding other bikes but, the only ones I remember were the Triumph's
