  1. I don't know about myths, but for some reason, in 2025 on Microsoft official website there's an system requirements page. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/minimum-system-requirements-for-halo-combat-evolved-4fca8017-47a1-7c35-5fef-7831cc3f913c There it says that Windows 2000 is supported OS.
  2. Yeah I think I'm sure that it is my Windows installation being corrupted in the Users and Security properties. Something is horribly wrong on system32 even though it installed all updates, have installed Avast AV and DirectX9... Currently on very short hiatus because of college starting in my country, but i think on the weekends i will try sfc /scannow command on cmd, and see whether my predictions were true...
  3. So, i converted the FAT32 into NTFS. Then i checked ownership, and as I've thought, it was set not to my username, DusanVicic, but to Administrators (it is hidden, accessible only though Safe Mode i think). I transferred ownership from Administrators to DusanVicic, and with 4 or 5 folder restriction errors, everything was changed to my user. I tried to run Visual C++ 2010, and... nope. I still have that error... The only problem remaining is the read only attribute. When i tried to uncheck it, it's only showing that it is unchecked until i close the properties, the next time i open it, it comes back as checked. How to make it permanent?
  4. Dave to the rescue!!! Yes... For compatibility, i did formatted C: drive to FAT32, and the rest of the drives are NTFS. If i change C from FAT32 to NTFS would that work?
  5. I've just realized that I've probably found the problem.... On Visual C++ 2010 it says: The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible. Free up space on the drive of verify that <b> you have write permission on the TEMP folder </b>. So, i started looking up around %temp% folder. It's read-only. Plus, i think i've found another problem. When you have to enable Security options on the folder, you must go to Folder options and uncheck Use simple file sharing (Recommended). Now the tricky part is that on any folder on the second and third partition of the HDD it shows the Security tab when i click Properties. BUT NOT ON THE C:\ FOLDER! Including the %TEMP% folder. Any ideas?
  6. Nope, tried that and it doesn't work... In my opinion, it has to do to some hidden Group Policy setting that wasn't properly set up while XP was installing, I'm sure of it.
  7. Added on Administrator and on DusanVicic full controls, restarted the system, AND started with admin rights the Reader XI setup. Then this happens. Even though I've already got admin rights, and it was the first OS out of 7 and 10, shows this error... Great, just great.... And it happens with other setups also.
  8. I don't know who to ask, and not to disturb admins, i will ask you this question.
Since when did signatures rules changed? On my profile, i have an old signature of 13 lines, and now i can't edit my signature properly since it requires four lines, and i have a problem with that since i can't edit my signature with updated laptops and computers specs.
I can't find a thread with a post when did that change occurred...
    Thanks in advance.

Apparently this has been the policy for a very long time. I remember reading about the 4 line text and image size requirement somewhere when I joined... Here's the best documentation I could find.

I would assume that your signature somehow slipped through the cracks before but is now broken since it exceeds the limit. Not sure how to help with this; I don't have any control over such matters. Have to ask a Super Moderator or Supervisor on this one!

  9. Yes, XP is 32bit, for your consideration, and i forgot that my Celeron on G580 supports 64bit... I downloaded your version of 32bit NET. 4 Framework and it still showed that error. And yes, Visual C++ 2010, Reader XI, Office 2007 and NET. 4 doesn't work at all... I think it has to do with admin access thing... %TEMP% folder is clean tho... And yes, i have an DusanVicic admin username already...
  10. never knew about that, but nope, it still shows that same error.
  11. YES, it is that same laptop. Celeron version... - _- I think i forgot to include that info down there... Gotta edit that...
  12. Thanks for the advice, I've had that Mypal version downloaded offline and i was settings up the XP,, so i probably forgot to update it. I think that's non SSE2 version.
  13. https://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/zRe3f114VAgyKaXdgQ51nuNCul9JqKRa (this link is valid for 30 days i think) There are some screenshots that I've shot on the phone, for some reason i can't write message properly on Mypal 29...
  14. So I've decided to finally try to install Windows XP on Lenovo G580. Because i had some problems with newer software, i had to do via WINSetupfromUSB. Figured it out second time by pressing F6 and installing SATA/AHCI Intel drivers. For triple boot, i'm planning to use 3 partitions. 1st is 32GB FAT32 for XP (compatibility), other two are NTFS for Windows 7 and for trying the 10. Drivers were a bit of pain to install, but i did it with other ways. Problem is that when i tried to install Visual C++ 2010 Redist, i found out about this error written on the title of the thread. Then it happened again when i tried to install Office 2007 Enterprise, ANY version of NET. Framework, Adobe Reader XI and some XPS Essentials pack. At least i have the wireless functionality enabled... I think it looks like i have problems with folder permissions and the TEMP folder being full (it happens even after i run %TEMP% and empty the files in the folder), but i will say that i haven't installed all updates for SP3. For any precautions, I've stopped doing any upgrade until i figure out why does it happens now, when i didn't really had problems with that thing... Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. 👍 P. S. I couldn't insert some screenshots directly, but when i did some additional work i will pull some screenshots from the machine itself.
  15. Discord on Mypal 68.14.2b works like a charm, while Firefox ESR and Chrome 49 browsers went full white while trying to load Discord web version. I suppose that Supermium works perfectly...
  16. It seems that you have an 0x80072EFE error code. This means Windows Update can't properly connect to the server. Did you used our patcher in any case? If that's the case, the patcher hasn't been properly installed probably.
  17. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=324295.0 Guys, if you don't know, Avast stopped giving definition updates on versions 9/10/11 since November 2023. It means that non-SSE processors are vulnerable now (10.4.2223 was the last non-SSE version) @AstroSkipper Please edit our antimalware list. Dušan Vićić P.S. Avast is slowly closing in on version 18 definition updates... No announcement yet, but XP will lose Avast antivirus support in 5 years, at best... Version 11 was released in 2016, i think. Damn it.
  18. http://www.win3x.org/win3board/viewtopic.php?t=96 On this site there are some of those WIN 3.1 updates available in English and French language. Also, on the other hand, Windows NT 4.0 SP6a on IE6 SP1 installed every single update correctly in WUv3. I don't know how it behaves in the older versions of IE, like 5 or 5.5, or in the SP3, SP4, SP5, gotta test that...
  19. Finally, something that i was searching for a loooooong time. I don't mind it it's offline, but i think it is not a demanding one. It seems that i can't find any system requirements on their website, for some reason. For the layout of the antivirus i sincerely hope that it can run on the non SSE processors cuz it feels like those old antivirus programs from 9x/ME.
  20. That's nuts.... I never imagined IE6 to get it working in 95!!! (real talk, MS could made it possible to do this if they really wanted, but, ya know, 95 was approaching EOL in a couple of months, XP was a huge deal, so they didn't do it, cuz it would be a waste of time and money. Nuff said)
  21. Finally, the WINDOWS UPDATE HAS COME BACK TO WINDOWS 98/ME!!!! (read this in The Rock's voice) Took it long enough... (11 YEARS!?!?) I will test the website tomorrow ASAP (98 on VM, 2000 on real computer). By the way, i would remind you that you shall do some negotiations with Legacy Update team to include V4 on their sites, if you want... We can host our private servers, you know, we already have our domain... I've just gave some facts to consider what is next... Also, you can extract all official (and unofficial) updates in the AutoPatcher for Windows 98. The real thing is rewritting the download links to make this thing working... Still, HUGE freaking congrats to all of those who made this website functional!!!!! Cheers, mates!
  22. For the second question, you will get disappointed. The last version of IE that works properly on Windows 95 is IE 5.5 SP2. I don't really know of someone made a patch or a back port of IE6 on W95. For the first question... This is a first time i saw this type of question on forum... But probably it would work, with a lots of bugs, because it was designed to work in W95/3.xx kernel, and W2000 was on "all-new" NT kernel... Or it might won't even work...
  23. Very good!!!!! Finally some good news. Can't wait to see completed v3.1!!! Still, the big problems with v4 website are still not solved. The second most important WU website, after v6, imo. I'm gonna check if that v3.1 website is working on my W98 VM! Welp, for some reason, it redirects me to the 404 error, so i can't see it in the moment.
  24. In my opinion, and it's because of version 3 WU, i would go on Windows 95 and NT 4 (Server and Workstation versions). Also you said about getting new inventory system until 2002. Windows 95 was supported until December 31st 2001. (it's a shame that it wasn't long supported) So this does mean that it can recognize all W95 updates with this updated inventory system that has surpassed W95 EOL. You should especially focus on getting this working on 95 with different IE browser versions. (on some browsers it does work, on some it doesn't)
  25. In my childhood, the real deal was the Nokia Symbian OS and Series 60 feature phones. Nowdays, my favorite smartphone OS are Android 4xx series and IOS 9. Visually perfect in comparason of today's minimalistic OS-es.
