  1. Does anybody remember those days when it actually made sense to use IE as a daily web browser?
They are never going to come back...... IE is going to be killed off completely few months later...

@Jaguarek62 Use IE10 or IE9, most web pages  won't load at all!!

Also, in html5test, IE9 scored 113 out of 555 whereas IE7 scored .......19 points!! Look at how unusable it has become!!

  6. Am I the only one who likes Windows 8's metro?

Not quite. I too like Windows 8's Metro, but I hate the Start screen. Add Aero Glass and Classic Shell and everything's going to look perfect!

  7. Do MSFNers use Windows 10 with updates enabled?

      Hello again sir.

I used to use Windows 10 with updates enabled from 2018 until last year. Back then, I was not very knowledgeable about how Windows 10 updates were bad and useless and was fooled by Microsoft's announcements on "new features and security fixes". And, oh boy, the way it restarted every time without the user's consent to install crappy updates was horrible!! I can vividly remember the day when it restarted to install version 1809 during an online exam and when it deleted personal stuff from my HDD after installing that update. Luckily I had that stuff backed up to an external HDD and also to the cloud, so a disaster was averted! You can never trust Windows 10 and the MS of today, don't you think?

8.1 is the perfect mix of traditional and modern stuff. It has many useful features such as fast startup, delaying updates up to 2 days etc. Vista is the second best only by a really tiny margin to me too because it does not have fast startup (but I don't really need this as my primary Vista laptop has an SSD) or delay of update installation of up to 2 days (only up to 4 hrs).

Otherwise, Vista and 8.1 are equally good to me.

I used Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron 15 3567 (my secondary laptop) with an Intel core i3 6006u, 4 GB RAM and a Toshiba 5400 rpm HDD, and it was eating up all it could, it was horrible!! Now I have Windows 8.1 (I even used Windows 7 on that laptop) and it is very fast compared to Win10 or even 7. Don't you think?

      Exactly!

It was a very painful experience of using Windows 10 for me. I will never move on to it.

EDIT : See my updated sig.

  11. I am offended that I was born at the wrong moment and at the wrong time. I want to see the internet from 2005-2009, I don't want to see the current situation with the unnecessary staff and dull interface. I want to see the complete openness of people on the Internet and their kindness to me. I want to see how Windows was made lovingly and stable, not 10, which is filled with surveillance and unnecessary services. I want to see the past of the internet and what it was like.

I'm not sad. I have Windows 9x, 2000 and XP on VMs for some experimenting and they are rock solid!

I have these VM's on my main Vista PC and my secondary desktop also has Vista which is superfast!

If you want to see my specs check out my forum post: Share your Microsoft Windows Vista experience!

Yes, I have Windows 98 and 2000 vms for experimenting with legacy Windows versions in 2020 and beyond. They was very easy and pleasant to use it, I guess, as they are rock solid for me.

Same here. I was born in 2008 and those were the good times of tech, when Windows was awesome, when computers were upgradeable and future-proofable. I wish to travel to the earlier days. These days, M$ has been up to no good, shoving Windows 10 down everybody's throats and computers are also non upgradable, especially laptops.
