I would like to add arbitrary toolbar buttons to Windows Explorer. The buttons simply need to execute a program.
The first specific use I have for this is to launch a third-party file finding utility by clicking a toolbar button instead of using Windows XP's (horrible, bloated, ineffective, dog-powered) "Search" utility. I want to launch the app from the Windows Explorer toolbar, the one that's visible when browsing to any folder, that typically has back, forward, up, etc.
So far, I have been successful at adding the button to the Internet Explorer toolbar, but I have not found any way to add any custom buttons of any sort to the regular Explorer toolbar.
Can anyone shed any light on how to add a custom button to this toolbar?
