There is a workaround with hotfix for MBAM latest xp-version2.21. 1043. for SSE-winxp. . 2.18 and above related. i have the instructions. they are their forum.

Microsoft Security Essentials( MSE) for Winxp: No more updateS since quite a long time.
Only free solution: Clamwin. The addon-Software Clamsentinel i removed since too much false positive. one must adjust this. e.g.. irfanview plugins a lot of them were blocked!
So remove MSE and install Clamwin. At least true for Winxp SSE. What is working on Winxp SSE2 i cannot answer now since other PC must be setup again.0 -

Only download-solution for now: Maxthon 3. it has built-in downloader which is stuck just above the videowindow.BTW: If Win7 and newer the updatepacks(Full monthly or monthly updates) will also work on english versions. there is a workaround if one is starting with Full version(latest) stopping UAC. its in Sticky/Wichtig in the forum. msconfig and then click on UAC and press start. then down with the regulator.
Bedside the already know browsers i can run also Opera and Chromium only video-problems seem not solved.

Primetime CDM FF 49+
To be able to install and operate the Primetime CDM, add and/or set the following FF preferences in about:config (be careful, all of these are cAsE sEnSiTiVe!):media.gmp-eme-adobe.enabled (boolean; true)

To install the plugin:Open your FF profile folder. An easy way to navigate to it is by opening about:support in FF and clicking the Open Folder button next to Profile Folder.
Inside the profile folder, create subfolder gmp-eme-adobe and open it.
Inside gmp-eme-adobe, create subfolder 17 and open it.
Unpack the Primetime ZIP archive into folder 17.
Folder [your FF profile path]\gmp-eme-adobe\17 should now contain three files: eme-adobe.dll, eme-adobe.info, eme-adobe.voucher.After this, check the Plugins in your Add-ons list and you should see the Primetime plugin listed and ready for use. If you don't see the plugin there, make sure you've set all of the required preferences as described above and put the files into the correct subfolder. Restarting Firefox to complete the manual install isn't usually required, but try it if the plugin doesn't appear, (Also, remember that if you have more than one Firefox profile, you'll need to repeat these steps for each of them individually.)
Set the Primetime plugin to Always Activate, Flash to Never Activate (not strictly necessary, but better for testing), and go to Youtube HTML5 video player check page. Both H.264 and MSE & H.264 should have blue checkmarks. You may want to try this test page (kindly suggested by @dencorso) or some Twitter videos to quickly make sure H.264 really is working (with Youtube you can get fooled by WebM getting played instead).
In theory, you could uninstall Flash at this point, but realistically it's probably wiser for now to leave it installed and disabled in the browser. Personally, I installed the FlashDisable extension to quickly toggle Flash on some of the sites I frequent that don't support HTML5 video. Some of those insistently serve Flash video to desktop FF without even checking if it can do HTML5 video or not. That can be worked around by faking a different user agent string, but for now I've found it more convenient to just temporarily toggle Flash back on for them. FlashDisable supports the Ask to Activate setting, so you don't have to worry about other sites if you forget to turn Flash off again.

As you've likely heard, FF 52 ESR is the last version of the browser that's going to work on XP (unless some intrepid person forks a special version for us). In a way, this is a blessing in disguise, as Primetime support has been completely excised from FF 53 and Google's Widevine CDM doesn't have our helpful side-effect (and doesn't work on XP), but ESR 52 will be supported well into 2018. So, why not make use of it while we can, right?
Note that HLS streaming is not natively supported with this plugin. It does work on sites coded to use some JS library or player to work with HLS, but not for directly playing .m3u8 video sources. You may want to keep an eye on developments with hls.js in general and firefox-hls in particular if a favorite site of yours falls into the latter category.

IOW, with his latest updates to Serpent/Moebius, you can now install the Adobe Primetime CDM and use it for HTML5 video, instead of Serpent's built-in support. You may want to try this if you run into issues with the built-in support, such as distorted audio.If you "cheated" like I did and copied your Serpent/UXP profile over to Serpent/Moebius, and had Primetime installed on UXP, you're probably 90% of the way home. All you need to do is recreate the media.gmp-eme-adobe.visible boolean pref and set it to true. Primetime should appear in about:addons since the other prefs from your UXP install should still be there. Of course, if it doesn't work, check all the prefs mentioned in the Primetime thread.
As with UXP, you'll need to set media.ffvpx.enabled to false to force Moebius to use Primetime for HTML5; otherwise Moebius will use its built-in support by default.

I am currently testing if some YT-video cannot be downloaded with CYS complete Youtube Saver. recognized downloading with this converter videos are of higher resolution wheras in CYS list the are not available but listed. e.g Full HD showing ! will try again. btw: bin-folder of downloaded and extracted ffmpeg -program must be aimed since its containing the exe. options are in the icon upper left side of adress-bad. download right of it under the down-arrow.
CYS now downloading Full HD also. I can swear in older version full hd download was not possible only HD but with this converter it was. it is also shown as link within netvideohunter addon which itself is not working. like downloadvideohelper.

Yes have read about the Primetime CDM. Maybe someone could write a turorial to understand what and which and why. Its going to be much complicated here, isnt it?
Its not easy making old pc running again. everything is so important. lately could install updates. thanks to NFW4 reinstallation. There is much Intuition needed to handle all the problem. Good i have over 25 years of computer-experience from 286 to Dualcore(only) win7-64!
Its fantastic how PMXP is learning. dont have to make a lot of installations when new update must run. So do i need the installer? i have been saved updates in new folder.
How do i have to handle SSE-updates? I am using seperate folder to avoid mess if new version makes troubles. how to run the installer? is the bug solved?

What's more important - that videos play absolutely fine in Firefox 47 and even in Firefox 42. Any thoughts?
Update: figured out the problem. I should have used LAV filters from the archive given by @roytam1 rather than my own taken from K-Lite 11.5. It seems the version of avcodec matters (mine is 56, while 57 is required by PM). Now everything works fine
If i were you i would use the LAV-filters-exe. not moving files. But if its working this way... only if the moving files-method is not working. Had problems with windows mediaplayer only showing up sound in restricted account. had to reinstall multiple videoprograms and codecs. if lavfilters are used matroska must be removed. MP4 splitter and FLV-splitter(exe not the manual workaround used here). forget K-lite.
reinstallation of Windows Mediaplayer. evtl. adjusting the file-extensions. had chaos with mpegs. new associations and maybe changes(there are two versions).
I would not defrag partitions with sound and videofiles in it. huge problem could occur with MFT. have found a workaround since it happened repetedly, videofiles not playing anymore. its in sysopt-forum(ME:europanorama)
Have also FF 45.3.0 ESR could run a standard FF 47-version but only PMXP/SSE is stable enough.0 -

1. Old AMD-CPUs are not the problem. I am currently running GA-7N400 Pro 2(was affected from the capacitor plague(google that its very important if using old PCs) and thanks to the newmoon-solution i could make my SSE-Processor-PC running very very stable. But i had to dig around checking out every message i could possibly find)here of course but i started in official palemoon-forum till i landed here. Here is my solution:
Winxp-SSE. latest Palemoon(see earlier link) 27.9.6 March 16-2019. date seems important i have read and not filenames. Have seen confusion about naming of zip, filename and about.

4. Resetting Newmoon, where? SOLVED: Under Informations to repair errors(or similar) not in safe-mode window anymore which was the wrong location.
5. TFC Temp File Cleaner seems obsolete. Eigther i have set to delete tempfiles inside PM or PM is automatically remove the junk which i had to remove with TFC when Firefox was used.
6. I have almost no crashes and FB is running very good most of the time, only no FB-videos(SSE only here), so does ebay/paypal and ebanking. sometimes FB can get very slow. high traffic, reset router, reset Palemoon/Newmoon helped a lot. and dont forget defragging. I like Perfect disk a lot. but used also Defraggler and smartdefrag(beware of applications bundled with it). i am removing swapfile before defragging is started.
7. Internet Emergency-access: one can surf using internet with Knoppix Live DVD(enough Ram) even working WITHOUT HDD: YES YES YES-unbelievable. not all knoppix-versions are working. there seems to be a versions-chaos. older version higher No.!

In EU-european union. a high court ruled that MS must accept the reuse of old Win7. But they are not interested to accept this they are blocking (black screen) Win7-people. At least they are not totally blocking login!

The capacitor plague is another drama of arrogant behavior of certain player in the electronic industry. Old PCs dying earlier than necessary thanks to bad capacitors not fullfilling long life. Happened to both of my pcs. good luck i had multiple copies. have a long story in sysopt-starting mid june 2018, very complicated. but i found workarounds-was the winner. europanorama there. PSU-problem was the start of the drama. MS=arrogante Bande like amazon who kicked me out of dpreview when trying to help others.0 -

Anyhow, to address some of your concerns:
- The latest version of NM 27 is here:Don't sweat the version numbers. Go by the date (2019 Mar 16).
- Just because there's no installer (yet) doesn't mean it's a portable version. A portable version stores its profile within its own directory, so you can launch it from a thumb drive and your profile will be on the thumb drive as well. New Moon doesn't do that.
- Don't sweat what's said on the PaleMoon forums. As they will emphatically tell you, New Moon is not Pale Moon (even though it's derived from it). Many folks there don't much care for @roytam1's work, but many folks here are quite happy with it.
- For video playback issues (in Facebook or wherever), read the FAQ in post 1, especially where it says "Can't play h.264 clips" & "VP9 support:"If it still doesn't work, post back here, but be patient: some of our most talented followers don't necessarily read this thread each day.

the biggest problems is nonworking videodownloader. only yt-converter is working. videodownloadhelper? which version. netvideohunter is downloading but not right size.

I remember at one time you actually provided XP x64 compatible builds of Pale Moon when the official version was no longer supporting it. Based on our first encounter several years ago now I knew you had, shall we say, a "condescending" attitude toward older systems, but I never understood how you could go so quickly from providing those unofficial builds for unsupported XP x64 to being so vehemently opposed to anyone who even mentions retaining compatibility for NT5.x...
But I digress, and if I continue this will be way off-topic, and pointless.Anyway, I'm glad to see that you're taking a more constructive approach. I just hope it is truly in good faith. I was most surprised by the fact that -other than in FF-PMXP (after resetting had been done) is fully recovering addons. in FF they were "lost". PW and favorites always recovered there. Always had to recover addons with the help of FEBE. version 10.3 is latest working with PM27.

I haven't personally used the browser on win2k that much but that's my guess.
Lavfilters often saved me. one can DL the exe somewhere.

THIS has ALWAYS been my problem with Roytam and his friends. Instead of creating something of their own they do the minimum amount of work possible and wobble back and forth across the line of rights infringement to produce these builds for which they get acclaim from people like you from but when something goes wrong it falls to us to clean it up. As I also said, it also causes confusion with users.
MCP has basically washed their hands and ignores Roytam's builds but my self as Binary Outcast, I want Borealis-based builds of the navigator to be pulled immediately from his archives as rights infringing material not only of my self but on behalf of the SeaMonkey Project and Mozilla until such time the project achieves first release, provide non-infringing unofficial branding, or he creates his own.
As for Interlink-based builds I want all mention of the Interlink trademark removed from the associated sites and repositories OR and FOR the future there is a clear disclaimer that these builds are not in any way affiliated with Binary Outcast.IF these provisions are met I will cease my current activity and allow you to continue on as before without interference.
Main question still unanswered: Can you deliver a stable or almost stable browser for SSE-based Winxp-PCs? who likes playing youtube and is able downloading videos?

Have been running at least two PMXP 27...versions on my SSE-processor winxp-PC. Thought i should upgrade to find out if some actions work better. FB-videos i cannot make running.
1l i am very puzzzled about the chaos the developper(s) has integrated regarding version numbers.
a) cannot install palemoon for xp. its running like a portable, no instructions how to install. palemoon is the only exe-file.
I first landed on the real Palemoon-forum and asked questions there. yes i was going through everything i could find.
1. Febr 19- 27-9-4-1(zip=foldername), filename: 27.9.4.6847, about: 27.9.6 2019-03-09

maybe different abouts when no browser is open. only one version at the same time, will verify and come back.

My old GA-7N400 Pro 2(winxp, was win2k) is running on two 200gb HDDs(not at the same time....) backup to 1tb will be done soon.
this and my newer SSE2 Asrock Alive Dual eSata2-PC(winxp/win7) are affected by capacitor-plague. have multiple copies of both.

I am using the old method again of executing LAVfilters. since i have pretty old MOBO this version will do:

if there are videoproblems e.g. playing in Windows Mediaplayer it maybe be a complex situation related to ffdshow, DivX(/Xvid), MP4-splitter and FLV-Splitter and more
so we need to know what problem you have. Mov-files not playing, videos not playing at all or only certain types?
i had huge problems after defragging partition containing Video-and audio-files. sometimes the same issue coming even without defragging which is adviced. or seperating video/audio from other stuff.
the only issue i have not showing icons anymore on most videos. MPEG-4
