  1. Hi there, I've noticed something unusual lately, that being, when I come back to my system after it has been locked for a while, my hard disk light is basically solid, and I can hear my hard drive spinning rapidly. However, when I mive the mouse to wake up my computer, the disk activity suddenly stops. Is this normal behaviour of Windows, or is something not normal here?
  2. Sorry for the late reply, it's been ages since I last logged into MSFN. Nevertheless, I think it would be a great idea, as people may be looking for these updates in the future too.
  3. Since the Windows Update v6 website now seems to be down, I've been looking for another way I can update an XP x64 machine. However, all of the updates I can find on the internet seem to be for x86, and Windows Update MiniTool doesn't seem to support XP x64 either. Does anyone know of a place I can get these updates from?
  4. Hi there, I've recently installed Project 2002 onto a Windows 98 VM, but whenever I double-click to start it, I hear the familiar Windows 'ding' and nothing else (no error messages or anything). I remember this happening on a Windows ME VM as well. What exactly is wrong here?
  5. Hi there, From what I understand, VMware Workstation 6.5 is supposed to work perfectly on Windows 2000, and I have seen quite a few people saying they got it to run as well. However, when I tried to install it, I keep getting this error message: ’Setup failed to generate the SSL keys needed to install VMware Server. Press OK to cancel the installation.’ Many posts online seem to blame a duplicate of a file called openssl.exe, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with me. The list of last versions of software for Windows 2000 says I have to do a registry edit to say it’s Windows XP, but there seems to be nothing on there telling us how to actually do the edit. How do I get it working?
  6. I'm having this really weird internet problem in Windows 95. This never happened before when I installed Windows 95 previously, but it is now. I tried everything, including uninstalling the Windows Desktop Update and installing Firefox 1.5.0.9, but none of it's working. Basically, every web page I visit, it says 'Detecting proxy settings...' for a bit, then gives me a 'The page cannot be displayed' error. The TCP/IP protocol has been installed, TLS 1.0 has been turned on, and I have 128-bit encryption installed, but it still won't work. I'm using a VMware Virtual Machine with an AMD PCNET Family ethernet adapter (which has been binded to TCP/IP), which is connected via NAT (my physical connection is fine), and I have Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 installed with Java 1.3.1_20. Does anyone have any idea what's happening?
