  1. About Skype. Yes, they finally deployed new web version that seems to be the same beta version they used to block anything but chrome earlier. Fortunately, a simple useragent change to "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.9 Safari/537.36" by using "Custom UserAgent String" addon did the thing. Unfortunately, Palemoon is no longer seems to work. Mind you, I'm using Skype with Firefox 66 on Linux, so YMMV! But at least they fixed the sound I guess...
  2. Only if its code is not changed to use SSE2-only commands yet. Which is unlikely IMO. But it won't hurt to try at least. :)
  3. Now that's a perfect example of common sense, ironically enough - a thing not too common in this world nowadays... :) Nothing to add to that, really. Let's just hope that React OS will be good enough before it's too late.
  4. So, is it permanent from now on or will it be reversed or patched in any future builds? In other words, is there a strong reason to stick to 01.19 builds?
  5. 1) "Easy mode": look here http://www1.plala.or.jp/tete009/en-US/software.html 2) Google for tmemutil.dll / tmemutil-3rd.dll or portable32.dll / portable64.dll and figure it out what's best for you. Worked almost flawlessly with any mozilla-related software made last year, but probably will have problems with latest quantum-based stuff, because of multithreading and stuff. Also had some nuances with SSE2, just to mention. The only con is probably the unhandy nature of manually patching the default dll list every time you upgrade automatically.
  6. but you can use portable dll injection hack, I was using it for the lack of a better alternative and IMO it's good enough
  7. Also read this: https://web.archive.org/web/20160115055656/http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOnWindows
  8. Dammit, I forgot about that MSVC part! Oh well... So much for my hopes for an easy unbinding from MS. Btw, do you have any previous experience with GCC/Clang? Hopefully - with some positive outcome. :)
  9. @roytam1 Is it possible (with reasonable effort) for you to build your patched PM27 version for linux? Puppy Linux, to be exact. Or any of Mozilla-related stuff we discuss here, for that matter? "Official" builds are abandoned, just like XP ones. But to have a modern noSSE or SSE browser is even more important. Thanks!
  10. That page is overly restrictive in that regard, for some reason. And usually search engine is not a xpi, unfortunately. But if you need to add just the Google search, here's a zip of it, put google.xml into moonchild productions/pale moon/<your.profile>/searchplugins/ and restart browser. Also, there was a site that allowed creating your own custom search engines. Or was it an addon... Can't find that exact thing just now, but here is a seemingly good enough alternative: https://tobtu.com/customsearch.php google.xml.zip
  11. I'm fairly interested in this topic as well. And I also have a (supposedly) working XP Steam copy from 01.06.2018, when my system had crashed (and it remains like that since), but I would like to be able to update it as far as it is necessary/possible. So, is it safe to post links here to exchange files? Or is it better to do it privately? There are many projects out there which can deal with Steam in different ways. For example, there's a neat project called "Gaming Backup Multitool for Linux" https://gitlab.com/supremesonicbrazil/GBML Also, check out this thread, may also be useful: "How to Download Older Versions of a Steam Game" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=889624474 Btw, is the SteamCMD still working in XP, can anyone check? https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD And, of course, don't forget to check "GOG connect" regularly https://www.gog.com/connect to use it as a partial "backup" of sorts. But GOG is also slowly drifting in the wrong direction since maybe the last year roughly, when they started to redesign their site and I had a conversation with their staff, who told me that they are not particularly interested in continuing supporting XP. Quite sad really. But at least you don't need any client to download the games while they are still playable.
  12. Looks like a problem with partially broken encryption to me. Check your cipher suites options, if you have Pale Moon Commander installed, or use about:config. Don't mess up! :) While doing so, if it's recaptcha, test it here https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api2/demo or here https://patrickhlauke.github.io/recaptcha/
  13. I do. %) But those were the good times, long forgotten... When browsers were stable and webpages were less resource-hungry. Btw, wasn't that tobin guy banned previously? Also, what would happen when that counter gets overflown?
  14. I am not quite sure what faster decoding has to do with slower connection speed... But nevermind, my main concern is described a bit earlier, so if what Roytam said is true, then playback performance is actually somewhat worse now, at least in the GUI responsiveness part.
  15. Absolutely true. But what's the point of having a faster encoder in a browser? :)
