  1. Is there an option in your bios to set usb keyboards to legacy?
  2. Yes the link mina7601 posted is the download link. I haven't tested the latest 1.6 version. After getting kernelex installed you need to get the core updates. Once these are setup you should be along the right path to then get Java going. You need to install Java 6 first which I believe is the last installable version and then download jre8. Once downloaded and extracted (the instructions are on the forum) you need to set the exe's to WinXPSP2 compatibility as per firefox. Once java is set you need to add a path in msconfig. The path for msconfig is essentially just to redirect the appdata folder for the app as it uses this location to store config data. I kept things easy and made a folder called appdata in my c: root. Msconfig has the environment tab which allows you to then set this variable. After, start the jar app using jre8 and not the version 6 you installed earlier. Once done you should be good to go
  3. So further on from my post in the XP forum, I decided to play around on Windows ME to see if I could get the new Java based Spotify client working and to my surprise it works and plays! Steps included installing Java 6 then Java 8 as per the instructions on the forum. I have manually set appdata in command line to a folder called appdata in C root however I need to test if this is required or not. I don’t believe there has been a spotify client up to now for Win 9x so this may be quite a novelty for some!
  4. Hi All, This isn't my project however I have tested and found it to be working https://github.com/werwolf2303/SpotifyXP It's based on Java and restores music streaming for XP.
  5. No it’s a completely different system that just looks similar to normal Windows. You’re basically trying to run a normal Windows app on android/linux/ios/macos. It’s not going to work without programming skills
  6. Windows CE is not based on the NT kernel so without recompiling your apps they aren’t going to run unfortunately
  7. Modern browsers work on Windows 98 as per the first post. Read the hard work put in by other members to find out how to do it.
  8. It’s not speedstep but have you installed the 2k dual core registry fix? That may be causing part of the hotter temperature. My D630 runs fairly cool with the fix but I think my CPU is a T8 something or other
  9. Fair enough that could be an issue... I do have a folder full of 2K updates which I saved with WSUS offline so if worst comes to worse I could put them on a file share for you. I believe on the internet archive people have saved all the updates though too so that might be easier access so you could download and burn to a disc if your laptop has a reader? Failing that you’d probably need to go down the slipstreaming route for your installer
  10. @i430VX posted a very handy video which may help you out here
  11. Those memory sticks were branded Integral here in the UK. My Dad had either the 256mb or 512mb and I had the 1GB version. I still have my 1GB and it emulates a floppy which has the driver on so I’ll see if I can access it and if so what OSes it supports
  12. Fair enough - it's almost like all data for each session isn't getting saved - when starting again I don't get any autocomplete from before. Maybe it's down to path differences between 9x and NT OS's? I'm running Roytams build of FF45 SSE version. Haven't had any crashes as of yet but I'll let you know if I do.
  13. Apologies for what feels like spam posting... Further to my endeavors I have discovered the following: Address and search bar can be worked around using the above post or by installing Adobe Type Manager 4.1. I used this to install AwesomeFont 4.7 and after this coincidentally fixed the bars. I'm guessing this is down to it installing some required but not necessary files. The browsers do work in a Virtual Machine using the files I got from my extended Windows 2000. This leads me to think there is potentially an issue with one of the files from XP SP3? Anyhow, once again thankyou for all the work that has been put in to getting these working.
  14. So I've had a play around this morning with Classic Theme Restorer and it seems that if you change the toolbar mode from Show Icons Only to any other option then the search and address bar display all the text. Not sure how or why but it's a decent work around. Is there any way on FF45 to get it to remember that I've accepted the Google user agreement or is that something I should live with?
  15. Hi @schwups just wanted to let you know I finally have ff45 working on Windows ME. Not sure what I've possibly done different to last time when I couldn't get it to start. Although the differences this time are I took the DLL's from a KernelEx'd Windows 2000 and I'm also trying it on physical hardware. Is it a possible issue with Virtual Machines or the fact my Dlls came from 2k instead of XP SP3? Thankyou for your hard work and Jumper in getting this working. One quick question is there anyway to stop the address bar and search bar from missing the last letter?
  16. I’m not entirely sure but it could be the difference in SMB versions. Although you could try setting a shared folder on NT4 and then connecting from the Mac to the new shared folder.
  17. Windows 98SE and Windows ME. If I can figure out as to why the newer Firefox browsers aren’t working for me as per Schwups’ instructions I’ll probably choose these over Win 2k
  18. Currently trying on ME. MSVCRT.DLL is version 6.1.9848 Weirdly I'm now getting XPCOM error. Kernelex settings for XUL and exe are set to XPSP2. Verify.exe says Kernelex is installed correctly. Ktree is showing kextstubs under core.ini. Kextstubs is the file from your post earlier on the thread with a renamed 823 file. I assume this is correct?
  19. Thankyou for your response. So those files all exist in the Kernelex folder, knowndlls list has all five listed in quotes like this "XXX.DLL" however the actual file names are lowercase. Copying those into the FF folder results in xul.dll saying kernelex.dll is missing. Copying that into the FF folder still results in error on starting. Profiling firefox.exe in dependency walker then shows certcli.dll missing? Second chance exception then occurs in msvcrt.dll I'm guessing it's something I haven't done but not entirely sure. Many thanks
  20. I’m trying to get FF45 to run however I just get an error occurred on opening. DW shows 4 DLLs as missing however they are in the kernelex folder. Is the known DLL list in the registry case sensitive? I’ve added the files from the core updates. Firefox.exe and XUL.dll are both at XP SP2 compatibility mode. I’m guessing I haven’t configured KernelEx correctly but not sure?
  21. Hi all, Does anyone have any ideas for getting the GMA500 driver to work on 2000? It’s on an Acer Aspire One 751h. Tried with Extended Kernel and Extended Core however I get a blue screen. Currently removed 2000. I’ve tried slipstreaming the drivers too but no luck here either. Thank you in advance
  22. Does anyone have the latest English version of extended core? I need to install some XP only drivers and believe this can help with that. The legacy update site is only showing the Japanese version
  23. Yes that’s the one I used. Initially I installed it without having any client installed and received the error so removed and started with the XP version and then installed that over the top. I checked the registry entries for where the language was pointing and the files exist. Googling brings up others who have had the error but obviously on newer oses so not sure if it’s maybe an issue in one of the dll’s and how it links? I don’t want to complain though as I’m truly grateful for all you do for the Win 2K community and the software that now runs thanks to you
