What is your trouble now, exactly?

I am have installed two different XP versions in my PC and  I need to change anyone into Windows 8.1 so that I can use latest softwares but I can't install Windows 8.1 as a error message pops up when I am running the setup which tries to say me that my PC has MBR type of partition but it requires a GPT type of partition. But I can't back up all my files and format whole of my hard drive and get them partitioned into GPT. So I need a such I solution to it so that I need not format my whole hard disk. I am also afraid that if I am able to switch to GPT then I can no longer use my loving XP.

So any help from you will be very beneficial to me and if you need anymore details I can provide you.

I am grateful to Jaclaz that she tried to help me as much as she can.

Sure :), nothing should popup, by design, you only changed a setting, no taaa-daa, nor music band or fireworks to celebrate the accomplishment .

It is when you try again and launch the install/setup that it shouldn't (anymore) nag you with GPT, I don't tink there is any difference between a DVD and a pendrive source.

The idea is that the setup somehow checks for the presence of UEFI boot mode and if it finds it, the UEFI install prevails over the Legacy one, without giving you an option to change the mode, this would be typical MS.

Then what will I do now?

Well, for the record, I don't think :dubbio:that the OP was attempting a (direct or indirect) upgrade, but rather replacing one of his two instances of XP with a fresh install of 8.1.

    1) that you have not a backup is a real problem, much bigger than your issue with installing 8.1
    2) "my PC" tells nothing, you should provide some info on the system, and specifically if you are attempting to boot in UEFI mode:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-8.1-and-8/dn336946(v=win.10)

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/boot-to-uefi-mode-or-legacy-bios-mode

Maybe you chose the UEFI device, like here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GSW3-dPC_c

    3) JFYI, you won't make many friends on the board  (nor you will be served better or faster) by using "urgent" and lots of exclamation points.l

I was trying to use the method given in the 3rd link before you had posted it here but the BIOS of my PC is very different in looks and although I got the place which he (the youtuber) mentioned but I found no different option other than P0 and P4.

And my dear Jaclaz why you are so aggressive? And I see that you try to hit me whenever you get a chance!

  7. I need an urgent help.

    The problem is:

I have two versions of Windows XP installed on my PC. But I wanted to use Windows 8.1 by changing one of my XP into it. So I tried to install the Windows 8.1 in my PC and found that a problem is occurring. When ever I try to install the 8.1 and reach the Setup windows where I need to select the partition where I need to install it it a message show me that I am using an MBR type of partition and I need to change it into GPT. I tried to find out how to shot out this problem and all I came know is that I need to format my whole hard disk and change it into GPT and it will lead to deleting all my data from my PC which is not possible for me. I don't have any external storage so that I can backup such a huge amount of data. So, can anyone help me to install Windows 8.1 without such a hazard?

I need an urgent reply to this post!

  8. An Australian teenager pleaded guilty to charges of hacking into Apple's secure systems and said that he was a fan of the technology giant and hoped to work there one day, the media reported.

The 16-year-old boy is facing criminal charges after the technology giant called in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

"The teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, broke into Apple's mainframe from his suburban home on multiple occasions over a year because he was such a fan of the company, according to his lawyer," The Age reported late on Thursday.

The teenager, who studies in a private school, reportedly stored the saved information in a folder titled "hacky hack hack".

He was able to access authorized keys, view customer accounts and download 90 GB of secure files before being caught.

"The teen's defence lawyer said his client had become so well known in the international hacking community that even mentioning the case in detail could expose him to risk," the report added.

The magistrate has acknowledged the teenager's guilty plea and he is set to be sentenced next month due to the "complexities" of the case.

    Isn't it amazing?

  10. How can I take a screenshot when the os has not started at all and my DSLR is in a service centre but even I could have captured it with my phone but the pics are poor and can't be read. And I have already sent a pic similar to mine and accurate.

  11. That question was asked to me so after all it was my duty to reply that. Dibya replied for which I am thankful to him but the question was for me so I dutifully replied so as you are (jacklaz) saying more than requirement I am very disappointed to say that you are losing the respect that I had for you. So, sorry. And thnx to Dibya, perfecthog05 and Tripredacus to come front for help. But Jaclaz I am sorry though I thought you came to help me and not to utter foolish. Sorry.
