The problem I've had upgrading to new versions of windows, is that the new windows doesn't support aeroglass and sometimes the conflict causes wierd things to happen like an infinite bootloop. My method is always to uninstall aero glass, upgrade windows, then reinstall aeroglass (using the latest version). All you need is they key file in the aeroglass directory to make sure it's licensed. I always copy it to another folder, but the aeroglass uninstall never seems to remove it.

Microsoft keeps changing windows, so the author has to keep changing aeroglass everytime Microsoft rolls out a big update and messes with windows. It's been going on for years. It makes us all dread the annual (And now bi-annual) major win10 updates. They always break aeroglass.

Really? I'll be contrarian, but what's been great in the yearly (and now semi-annual) updates? All they seem to do is mess about with stuff I use, but they don't seem to bring in any new features that I use. Thus the massive updates feel more like a pain than something that improves the OS. I much preferred the old way of a new OS every so many years, with only security update and service packs.

The gui is on the downloads page all the way at the bottom under other (or was it others). Says "testing version of gui".. etc.. I use that.
I don't think I bothered with reflection images.

I install aeroglass, and then I also downloaded the aeroglass gui to mess around with the settings (Which I basically cranked transparency up to around 2 to make everything pretty transparent). That's it. I don't do anything fancy.. I basicallly run it stock.

Awesome. Not only is it a proper build, but the couple of bugs I had on the beta version seem to be gone.

Me too. I tried Windowblinds and it wasn't very good. I'd also pitch in more money if it helped bigmuscle get updates out. I'm hope were not the entire userbase who contributed $5 a few years ago and he keeps making updates without any new revenues.

I'm still optomostic. Given how long it took the beta/test version to come out, it doesn't surprise me it's taking longer for another beta or final version
I blame Microsoft for continually messing with the OS
It probably makes it difficult for BigMuscle to rewrite the whole thing everytime MS dumps a new version of Windows 10.
If MS doesn't stop making big changes I guess were stuck without it though. Given how long it takes to update, and MS wanting to rollout two complete OS updates per year it'll be a neverending cycle.
I also can't complain. I think I donated $5 for my key and have used it on my PC and Laptop for a few years now. I've gotten my $5 worth already. Windowsblinds cost a lot more and I never use it because it messes with things, and makes everything slower.

That's too bad... I don't really know much about it, so I guess I was hoping it was MS pulling their **** together, and finally bringing back a mostly aero interface. It always felt like a step back to go from something that look as awesome as Aero to the default win10 setup. It makes win 10 look like a slightly modern version of Windows ME.
I guess that's why we all use aeroglass. I don't even do anything special. I just install it so make my titlebar and borders transparent. I makes it look so much better.

I'm not considering it a lost cause, but it does suck how Microsoft rolls out these big updates and breaks everything. BigMuscle seems to keep trying, and the beta is running ok on pc. A few bugs, but not bad. I imagine he'll get the final version done.
Hopefully he sticks with it, and hopefully the neon thing brings back full aero support so we don't need aeroglass anymore.

That was awesome timing. I made a 2nd attempt at installing creators update tonight, and was trying to use 1.4.5 to make aeroglass work. Conflicted with my video driver and caused screen flicker. Came back here to see how other people made that work, and noticed the beta came out!!

I decided to give a try. It's not bad. You get about 10 premade skins and there's a menu to change the level of transparency (I usually crank it right up). I chose the win8 skin because it looked most like win10. The things I'm not liking about it are:
1) It doesn't only add transparency, it changes how some of the graphics look in menus and stuff.
2) I'm not sure if it's me but it make's the OS seems a little sluggish. It doesn't feel as snappy as Aeroglass. I checked my task manager and it's not really burning much for CPU usage, but it makes the OS seems less responsive
I don't do anything fancy with aeroglass. I install it, crank transparency to almost the highest setting and that it's it. Windowsblinds will do for now, but Aeroglass is definitely better. If/when an update comes back i'm definitely going back to aeroglass.

Hopefully he's ok. Thinking of trying windowsblinds. I really shouldn't be so cheap. What was the key for aeroglass, $5? I've been using it for a few years now. What's $10 to bridge the gap between big windows updates and aeroglass updates?

This happens every year. When MS rolls out a big update (creators, anniversary etc....) it breaks aeroglass. It usually takes a few months for a new version to come out that supports the update. They key is to stay on the older version until the update comes out. This happens every year

Apparently my time came and Windows automatically installed the Anniversary update last night. Ugh. I was hoping for a heads up so I wouldn't trigger the Aeroglass issues. Took me a bit to get into safe mode, renamed symsrv.dll, rebooted... dumped the beta over top (which apparently I wasn't supposed to do, but it worked).
At first I was having issues, as I like my application borders completely transparent. Then I read the first post and the comments about the registry edits. Put in my colours as 00FFFFF and all was good
It's working great now. Thanks bigmuscle, I appreciate you keeping transparency alive in Windows 10!

It often resets the settings (but not always). I tend to have to gui to put it back to the way i like it.
