Quick question for those of you that have the Creators update.  Did you just install the update or did you uninstall Aero Glass first?

Best to uninstall first or at least make sure the task is not running.  You may have problems if the task is running when you update--I did going from th2 to rs1 and was able to resolve the problem by turning off the task.

  2. I haven't been able to get aeroglass to work at all with the Creators Update.  Did you do anything special to get the effect because it doesn't show up at all and if you move a window around it just splatters the window all over the screen.

Update:  Actually I got it working a little by pointing my theme to rounded corners in the AeroGlassGUI--all I get is some color to the title bar in the active window but no transparency and I get nothing in the inactive window.  The splattering is gone with version 1.5.1 but was there with 1.5.3.

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb newbie question. I have Windows 10 with v1.5.3 and I would like to make the active window frames transparent. As it stands, the active window adopts the solid accent colour of the chosen theme or custom colour down both sides and at the bottom. Is there any way to make the frames transparent or adopt white frames to match the window background?

    Many thanks!

You can use the AeroGlassGUI utility that can be downloaded here (second link from bottom): http://www.glass8.eu/download.  The accent tab allows you to change opacity to transparent.  Use Firefox or other non-IE browser to download.

Strangely, another 3 reboots and the pro9blem vanished....all is well again.

Did the system download any additional symbols on the last reboot?  Strange, usually everything is done on the first reboot with a new patch.

Not that I know of - not yet anyway.  What's available is just what's on the download page.

Out of curiosity, and unrelated to ModernFrame, what makes you prefer a 32 bit system over a 64 bit system?

Second sentence off-topic!<--a joke!  Actually, I've never seen modernframe on the download page (am I missing it?).  Always had to look through the thread about it to see what's going on, if anything.

If you want to start a discussion totally off topic about Windows 10 and its lack of customization or about Microsoft and its decisions regarding the design of Windows here, let's start it, and let's see if some moderator do something about it or not, lets do it...

Enough already.  We're here to enjoy bigmuscle's creation, not be disciplined at every turn.  Bigmuscle created areoglass because of Microsoft's disregard of users, so I see the discussion about Microsoft as relevant here.  We don't have to over-categorize every discussion.  Everything is related in the end.

This post is 100% completely unnecessary. It's offtopic and more Microsoft bashing. Please take it elsewhere or a moderator will need to be involved. Its cancerous.

Hardly a crime what he posted.  It's relevant to the relationship between modernframe and Secure Boot, so I don't see it as off topic.  There's more to this site than pure technicalities I would hope.  Opinions have a place, and Microsoft could do to listen to users more.  Don't forget, aeroglass was the most requested feature in Microsoft's survey of what people wanted to see in Windows 10 and they still blew it off.

But maybe, I should accept your complain and change the policy to what other software does, e.g. SW by Stardock - limit functionality to 30 days only, limit many features to paid license only and request new payment for each major version. Would it be acceptable? I believe that users would complain again.

I understand bigmuscle's problem with complaints.  They are annoying, and I know because as I've said before I had a retail business for 24 years and of course I didn't enjoy complaints, especially ones that weren't justified.  If they were justified I wasn't happy, but I didn't blame the customer, just did my best to remedy the problem, and was glad when it was resolved.  However, there is one bit of advice I'd like to give to those who are troubled by complaints, and it comes from one of our most admired past American presidents, Harry Truman, and what he said many times was: 'If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!'

  9. I don't have any problem with the Edge buttons running 1.5 and 14393.222 but I did notice that if I add bigmuscle's current debug version of modernframe the buttons totally disappear.  Also, that debug version of modernframe doesn't work in Edge for rs1 (no aeroglass) but the old modernframe for th2 worked in Edge in th2 (had aeroglass there).  Hopefully the final modernframe for rs1 will work for me in Edge.

Hello, could you tell me when AeroGlass will be available for Windows version 10 14393.222. I am previous donor of old version, and I want to know if the key donors agree the old version with cordial. Because I just installed the 1.4.6 version but it does not work, could you help me, thanks!

Follow the guide and it should work.  Your old donation.key should work if you haven't changed any hardware.  Log into your account with your e-mail when you donated and download build #695--have to log in to get that build.

  11. I'm glad the guide helped you.  I'm beginning to think that Alanrh's and your approach might be the way to go but you should also probably replace the files in the aeroglass folder files with the new ones if you haven't already.  Knowing me I'll probably always start from scratch just to be compulsive!  Certainly disabling the aeroglass task is essential when upgrading to a new build as I alluded to earlier.  Yeah, Microsoft sucks.  The thing that really blows my mind is how they did that survey asking everyone what they wanted most in Windows 10 prior to its release and of course the number one response was 'bring back aeroglass.'
