  1. Generally, when installing XP on a new machine,  you need to "Enable Legacy Support" in the BIOS; this also means disabling UEFI mode and AHCI settings.

I have never had a problem installing XP on a new machine after doing this. The process can be the same for Windows 7, as that OS does not natively support UEFI.

Disable UEFI and Enable Legacy Boot

My PC have Enabled Legacy Boot.

    Any other fixes?

  2. Windows 7 is ugly, but the abundance of themes for it beg to differ :) This is my setup of 7: http://i.imgur.com/iyKA8mZ.jpg

Windows XP x86 is limited to RAM support, but there are PAE patches you can try. XP x64 is the best bet, but drivers can be a needle in the haystack. If you're content with Vista, feel free to keep it. Great OS with the SP's. Only hitch is finding drivers on some devices.

I just installed XP again. I was not able to find any drivers for my PC for Windows Vista or XP x64.

Now I should stick with 1 gb of ram.

  3. Do you know which WiFi adapter you have? That machine had options for Atheros, Intel, and Ralink. I always write down hardware (chipset, video, sound, and network) before formatting. Once you've formatted it can be impossible to know what hardware you have.

I think I am using: "Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn WiFi Adapter".

If someone can Bypass the OS Check on this driver for Windows XP, will be amazing!

By the way, I wanted to say thank you for entering that deep in my problem! :w00t: You are one good person!

Did you try an older version of driver?

    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/Ralink/ECS-H61H-G11-V20-Ralink-RT3290-WLAN-Driver-3270.shtml

    This driver needs XP. :/

BlackWingCat made a modified Intel HD 4 series driver for Windows 2000 that you may try: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1165914.html

You may also try manually installing the XP driver through device manager to bypass an OS check during install. It is doubtful it would work as support for Windows 2000 ended many years ago. You have to remember Windows 2000 was only on the market for a year before XP was launched: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22642/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-XP-exe-

    Nice!

Only one thing left before I start the installation, the WiFi (LAN) driver.

Can somebody help me? Here is the official HP Drivers site: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g6-2300-notebook-pc-series/5330578/model/5367495#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2

I have already tested Windows XP on my computer and it is working all just fine. The only thing is that I'll have trouble finding my Windows XP LAN driver again for someone to bypass os check.

By the way guys, how to Bypass OS Check?    EDIT: I just got it wrong. Now I know what you mean.

Any help will be appreciated. :angel

  6. You'll have to first take ownership of basebrd.dll.mui. To do this, download and install this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

After doing so, save the modified basebrd.dll.mui to the desktop, and then replace it by deleting or renaming the original basebrd.dll.mui to basebrd.dll.mui.old, and copy the new one there in its place. I think the changes will take effect immediately without restarting but you can restart if they don't.

This is exactly what I did.  I take ownership and than... bla bla bla... 100% the same thing.

It doesn't give me error or something. The changes just doens't apply. I tryed it over 10 times without any success.

    Any other ideas? :thumbup

    Поздрави!

PS: Sorry guys, English is not the only language in the world... :angel

:thumbup

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Translation: I use DriverMax. It automatically installs all of my drivers and it does a great job! Bearing in mind that my computer is for Windows 8.1, it is definitely doing a pretty good job! Keep in mind that drivers for Intel HD Graphics 4000 for Windows Vista don't exist!  :thumbup

  8. I think I know how to fix it, but first you need to answer few questions!

    - What is your PC model? (Example: "HP" , "Lenovo" , "Dell")

    - When did this error appear (I mean when for first time you get it) ?

    - Have you ever Re-Installed Windows XP using the "Repair" option or even with basic Re-Installation?

  9. you are better off to XP 64bit

    32bit won't see above ~3024 MB

as it loads in graphic card RAM too

you say you have 6 gigs of RAM, but honestly with that

I'd switch to win 7 and simply modify it to be as XP-ish as it can if you're so into XP look and feel

To switch into Windows  XP 64 bit is the best option, but unfortunately I can't find any drivers for it and I can't even install it, because I get bsod on the setup, so the only left option is to stay with Windows XP 32 bit and somehow get up to 3 gb ram just, because I don't like the Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 visual style. (The themes for Windows XP are terible... :} )

Any other suggestions or fixes?  :angel

  10. None of them worked, but I think that I am one step forward, because I realized that when I go to msconfig > boot.ini > Advanced Options and click MAXMEM, it shows 933 and If I try to change it to a higher value, and click "OK", and try opening it again or restarting the Computer is back to 933, but if I change it to lower value it works.

The same happens and when I try manually editing C:\boot.ini and type /maxmem=3072, and restart the pc it again changes back to 933

Does someone know how to fix this?

  11. Hello!  :hello:

    - Before all, I want to say sorry for my Bad English!

I am using HP Pavilion G6 2303su that is supposed to be running Windows 8. Before few weeks ago, I find drivers for Windows XP. Those drivers were not available from the HP site, but most of them were signed by my manufacturer, so I decided to install Windows XP.

When I installed it I had a few problems and I solve all of them, expect the problem with my RAM memory. My Laptop have 6 GB of RAM, but unfortunately Windows XP recognizes only 932 MB of RAM. (I am sure that the problem is not from my RAM, because the BIOS recognizes the whole 6 GB and CPUID does too.)

Any suggestions how to fix it will be greatly appreciated!  :)
