  1. Great....i can't wait to get the final...will be ok to install on an already updated install ?

No problem so fa with the last uSP.

I had an expected issue with ESDI_506.PDR, but that's not common, more specific to my computer, I think.

For those having the same issue with ESDI_506.PDR, please try the version 4102222 from LLMX's patch

    see forum

What exactly is this problem ? I got a hdd related problem in that when i enable dma on my second hdd it screws the fat (tho its fixable with minimal data loss) & when i copy files between hdds crcs change. Is this related to esdi_506.pdr ?

  2. I have model SB0100, which is a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1.

Anyone else gotten the drivers installed and installed properly with the SB0100?

    I, too, own the SB0100...

I've attached a registry file of the SB0100 keys found under...

Thanks for the info whatever420! I've compiled an experimental set of drivers for the SB0100.

    See First Post

Let me know how they go.

...What about the apps? Is threr surround mixer update for the vxd drivers ? I would like to try it...

I did some testing some time ago with the new apps - varying success.

I'll re-test all the new apps and post those that work well with the VxD drivers.

I have nearly a gig of Live! drivers and apps (all downloaded from Creative US, Eur, Asia, Aus, over the years)

It'll take some time, so stay tuned! B)

Wow over 1 gb...thats alot...hope you can scrap something for us...can't wait :D

  3. Hmm the emu10k1 vxd is actually newer than what i got with liveware 3 full package...how can this be...
...What model Live! card do you have?

    CT4830

Looks like you have a Generation II Live! card. I've got a Gen II myself.

Generation III was introduced with the Live! 5.1.

There have been driver updates since the Live!Ware 3.0 full package was released.

That's the point of these drivers. ;)

As I noted in a previous post, these are the core drivers and do not include Creative applications like Surround Mixer.

The Creative apps have been updated since Live!Ware 3.0 also, but there are some compatibility issues with some newer versions since they are often designed for the WDM drivers (not recommended in 9x - I tested them, and could never get them working properly...).

Yeah i know the point of this post but i hate it when companies dont post updated drivers for their older hardware and only for the newer (obvious reasons) even if they are compatible...i didn't knew there were newer vxd drivers for my card besides the lw3.0 package. What about the apps? Is threr surround mixer update for the vxd drivers ? I would like to try it. Thanks for this nice compilation...would be nice if you could find the updated dos drivers (not preinstalled tho).

  4. What I like with the Vista saga is that XP users are now in the same boat as w9x users.

XP users used to call us idiots for staying with w9x, told us to buy more ram and move to XP. Today it's them who are the "idiots" for not moving to the latest windows to date while they are resisting pressure against non-sens bloat.

    Best quote in a while :D +1

  5. Well, i have a Nokia N73 and i can use it in mass storage mode with no problems (thanks to Maximus) but what i need now is to use it in "PC Suite Mode"...and the version of Nokia PC Suite (or just the cable driver) that works with the N73 only supports 2000 and XP (yes NO VISTA :P)...so is there such a generic driver for this or can someone look into the cable driver/inf file to see if its moddable for win98se ? Thanks in advance.

W98SE unstability can be fixed by:

-Newer hardware (if compatible): More ram, more processor speed, faster HD etc

-Updates: windows updates (officials and unofficials), IE updates, multimedia codecs etc

When this is done, XP offers very little advantage for a home user PC but adds some disadvantages:

-Less safe against viruses and hackers

-Slower (except for internet based activities)

-Obligation to use "safely remove hardware" when removing devices (not on W98)

-More complicated to manage services, manualy modify systen files, tweak/hack etc

    -Useless services and features

-No boot batch script (Autoexec.bat) (An advanced feature but realy useful sometimes)

-Wannabe "intelligent" interface is in fact very dumb and irritating

-Default settings realy suck (that can be fixed easily)

Finaly XP has its instances of BSODs, driver issues, installation incompatibilities etc. If at least it was good in this respect, but it isn't.

    HTH

I second this...i use 98se on a daily basis and if you got a decent system lets say a beefed up p3 you get no bsod or stuff like that....and if an app crashes maybe is poorly coded (which are many these days)...i haven't reinstalled the os in 2.5 years and it works great.

  7. I just want to thank Maximus for this AWSOME OS update....i recently purchased a Nokia N73 mobile phone and i had no chance to get it to interact with my Win98SE machine because Nokia doesn't support this OS in its latest Nokia PC Suite software & other mobile phone manager type of software need the nokia drivers already installed (what's the point then???) but luckly this phone can work as a USB Mass Storage drive. So i just installed this amazing piece of software and guess what IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY...now i don't have to run cpu/memory hogging mobile manager soft....

THANKS to Maximus-Decim & all who contributed to NUSB. :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

  8. Well i nailed it down...it seemed that the problem was one of the ribbon cables...i swaped them on the motherboard and had to put the cdrw as a secondary master (it wouldn't work otherway  ) and the 2nd hdd as primary slave...the only thing thats bothering is that the hdd activity led is not blinking anymore on either hdd...guess i can't have it all...maybe ill have to buy a new ribbon cable, oh well...it works now but this one was weird as hell tho...thanks for the suggestions anyways.

  9. This is the wierdest problem i have come across....i have a p200 pc with win98se installed and i want to install a new 5gb hdd as a secondary drive and this is where the madness begins. Firstly this pc has only two power connector cables so i had to buy an extender cable (Y shaped one) to connect the cdrw and the hdd on the secondary cable and one hdd as a master. If i want to install the hdd as a master and the cdrw as slave it wont see the cdrw in the bios...when i switch it it won't see the hdd only the cdrw. If i want to put the cdrw on the first cable as a slave it won't see it also. Then i tried the second hdd as a slave and the cdrw as a master on the second cable and it works but it doesnt see the hdd in bios only the cdrw but the thing is that windows sees the second hdd just fine...i even ran Norton disk doctor to make sure tat there are no problems...only DOS can't see the hdd but that is just becausse the bios doesn't sees it also. So is it safe to use the hdd like that or what to do...also i can't enable DMA on it :( cuz of the **** bios. What am i doing wrong here ? Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post
