Hello, im trying to force Geforce 1030 as primary video card on Asus M5A97 R2.0 - AMD970 AM3 board. Problem is that i got display output only on G7950GT, even when is this card disabled in Device manager or set to PCI VGA driver. I dont care about output during booting, but when Windows 7 - i need to get Geforce 1030 as primary videocard, i need to have Geforce 7950GT in primary slot, because of old OS. Problem even is machine booted, i have got strange mode - when display drivers are ok, in as display manager i have VGA safe service, there is setting in Nvidia panel to change primary video card, but i can start it, because im getting message that not display is connected to Nvidia adapter so wizzard cant start.. Problem could be that Nvidia - 7950GT is using Geforce 309 driver and Geforce 1030 - 384 driver. I dont care about Geforce 7950GT is possible to set Windows 7 to completly ignore this card or pci-e slot where it is would be nice.. When is G1030 only card in first or second slot it works great.

I dont know too much about *.inf files, but this driver looks like for some USB device: %USB\VID_041E&PID_3010&MI_00.DeviceDesc%=SB0270_Device, USB\VID_041E&PID_3010&MI_00 // I found only 1 inf with this

Just for info fixed missing USB playback device in multimedia control windows through all Microsoft and Microsoft MCI - Multimedia device re-installation from ADD new hardware wizard. After that i was able to play sound through Winamp wave-out codec, but still not in other windows apps i have to reinstall DirectX 9.0c and after that DirectSound playbacked started to work.

Hello, i looking for new X99 board compatible with Windows XP, i already have some X99 which is working with Windows XP (so chipset itself is not problem), but it had other problems, so i want to replace it. I really like Gigabyte boards like this one - https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-X99-Gaming-5P-rev-10#sp , but they have for me unknow soundcard - Creative® Sound Core 3D chip, officially there is only Windows 7+ driver, but maybe XP driver exist.. I tried to extract hardwareID from drivers package and search for drivers, but im not quite sure, if i found right one. Yeah, because otherwise someone could think that it working everywhere, if there would be some readme file about how to debug it, it would already post some logs. Its booting on clean system with same HW and in 32 bit mode, so it would be HW issue, to list here list of hw make no sense, now i can post only very long Autoruns log.

Im a bit disappointed, then now i see, that there 3 different Sata patches, i though that there is 1 universal and i dont even have one which most important - 106 for Sata in AHCI mode, pleas send me it. BTW i just tested performance of file transfers, without Sata patches and around 1 MB/s, so patch is really needed, i got have any free Sata I or II device to test, if is this error is only related to Sata III hdd. Yeah czech is PITA, but i far as i know there is not any language pack, its my old installation with lots of tweaks i dont want to reinstall it. I hope that error codes are same for language version of Win 98. This error message says: Device isnt presented or dont work properly or dont have installed all drivers // its pretty general error.. Ok is not removable in Safe and Normal mode, so patch should be supplied with some removal utility. I dont know i it matters, but devices which could be removed also missing some descriptions. Your terabyte patch is installed, for error from Paragon NTFS look at image bellow.

I have tried this patch - last version on 3 machines and 4 installation, almost clean Windows XP SP3 installation worked, but for my older installation i always got Page_fault error during boot - i still time to check error logs (no minidumps and nothing in the nblog even when i use enable logging boot option), but patch is not probably compatible with some my favorite application which need a driver.

I have 5 controllers, but i cant remove them, even in Safe mode is not controller remove option available. ATA0104 - is have tried it, because nothing worked, is ATA0104 still actual, or i should use only ATA0108? I have not now any VIA controler, in had it in the past on this machine, now i have only intel 865. On second new machine (AMD 970), i have tried to install patch - 104, but im not able to make W98 boot when is disk are connected to controller in Sata mode even in safe mode, i always get Windows protection error. I wonder how many controller devices i should have in device manager, because after patch application in have on PCI IDE controller devices and Primary + Secondary controller devices - with exclamation mark (im booting in IDE mode, because otherwise im not able to boot at all). Would be nice, if in bios would be option to disable controller for Sata port 1-4 or 5-6, but it isnt. So i dont know which controller is Device manager is related to which disk device. I also tried to experiment with other Rloew patch, Terabyte patch, i dont know if 2 TB drive is supported, when is run 48bitlba - i got drive in the list and supported, but i dont see any NTFS partition, when i install Paragon free NTFS for Win98.

Ok update: With Rloews patch and flashed Bios is Geforce 7950 GT working well, i just test few games i was ok, i only suffer classical microcomputer - even when are average FPS - 90, there are dips to 0,15,10 FPS, every cca 30, i tested in all games - Q3, Unreal tournament 99, Warcraft III. Lasttime is i fixed it by Unofficial SP3 patch, this machine is still vanilla, even not EIDE DMA patches, even controllers are vanilla. I discovered by installation of some game demos, that storage performance is now poor, i didnt benchmarked it, but its something like 1-5 MB/s transfera, its really slow, even on old computers it was faster. I wonder how is best way how to enable and install rloew Sata patch on this vanilla machine, im using internal port 5 a 6 for 2 HDD, no other devices and other sata controller. Picture of my present configuration added. Sound with Sound blaster Audigy - SB0162 - playback device is now there, its working, but USB audio device is still not in playback devices (same device with other computer is working), i think that still problem is related to USB driver, without nUSB drivers wasnt USB card properly recognized, with nUSB was somewhat found but is not working properly, but im not even sure if nUSB controller is properly installed. I noticed on Win 7 that - after connection of USB soundcard was 4 USB devices recogniyed and installed.

I dont agree, your idea would work only in world where would be 1 skill - old OS details, in real multiskill world, it doesnt work. Im not shame im not trying be master of everything and waste of mine time of some details of old OS, when only thing i care with it is gaming on it, these detials are not my primary business or hobby is only obstacle / hurdle in my way.. I think that some people are too much obsessed by tools and by real creation of something own.

I would say that im pretty time effective, because ask here is best way to gain best time/performance response / help. I think that knowledge should be shared and i really dont like people which think that people should invest lots of time to go to through all dead ends to be worthy enough right answer - i think that this attitude is slowing mankind, i dont need to be jack of all trades.. Hmm, i spend today lots of times with Window 98SE drivers hell. I wasnt able to make Intel 1000 GT Desktop adapter working (device start problem) and Soundcard (AC97) problem - in device manager is card ok, but no playback device, in directX error 88780078, even usb sound card is installed but cant be used. I even updated Bios of NIC and Sata controller - no change. At the end of day i said for myself, hey i could be worse so i starting messing with new version of Sata patch, i did lots of thing but still not DVD rom even on Sil controller, result is only that i have lots of controllers which i cant remove. I dont know why but after still messing or because i have completely disabled IDE controller in BIOS - now i have IDE controller in Enhanced mode and IDE.. 2 Sata devices in Autodetect settings, but is strange network card now magically working - i didnt do any HW change and there wasnt any resource conflict.. How is juct in the Safe mode i can see my Samsung DVD device all the time, when i remove it, is redetected. I also using Magic Iso virtual drive, i even tried to uninstall it. In other OSes all HW works fine. I love games but i really hate this system, is better that Messing with AmigaOS, but its still hell, i would be glad for any help.

ragnargd - thanks for reply. Well for me IDE is only for start, i every time hated IDE because of 133 MB/s limitation for all PCI devices and drives. BTW you know any good disc benchmark for Win98 - CrystalDiskMark - seems to show some error numbers - like 5 000 MB/s etc.. Could someone compare speed of this chipset IDE with generic drivers and these is Rloews patch? Could you direct me to some more info about realtek Dos driver? I didnt count on that integrated NIC would work, but i wont to try it, it would be bonus. Intel - i assumed that if exist driver for chipset, card will be work independently on if is PCI or PCI-E, because driver exist - i was probably wrong, i primary bought card for other system, so no many wasted. I dont have any ATI PCI-E card compatibile with Win9x i looked for some but i never found any X8xx card with passive cooling (at least in theory, i dont mind add 1 super Silent Noctua as in case of Geforce 7950GT) i have some unraid virtual machine, with passthrough of G7950 GT and its working fine without patch. Soundcard - im unlucky, i have Audigy SE (SB0570) - i one without Win98 drivers, i wonder Realtek HD is most common card, there is not any driver to emulate AC97 or SB with it?

You are right i have found new version of patch elsewhere on HDD - from 2015, i remember that we communicated, i have found some purge controller script. I dont need to have Optical drive on primary controller - i think that sata is ignoring this PATA - master / slave logic, i just i have 2 Sata ports and i need use them both - one for SSD and one for Sata DVD writer. But i dont have ATA018 a have i thing versin ATA104 or something like that. Could you resend me pleas new version of Sata patch? I dont care about SIL3512 if would DVD writer work on oboard sata port - i would gladly remove this controller about of PC, i have their driver but i combination with my present config - it causing freezes during boot - so for now i dont install drivers for it and im fine. ----------- Now i have stupid problems with adress conficts between motherboards resources (DMA controller) and Network or Sound card, this HW configuration worked fine, i redetected HW maybe 5 times, without this confict.. Im using Autoruns, there is Drivers tab - here is can see all installed drivers, when you delete some old app or change hardware, there are usually ghosts.. There special apps like GhostBuster, DriverView which for deletion of these ghosts.. And for Nvidia, AMD and Intel there is Driver uninstaller. About backup, Erunt looks nice for backup, but i want how recovery works when is current installation in nonbootable state. Ce recovery used for other installation than is actually booted? Or restore is just about replace files - so i can restore it just from Linux boot usb?

Hello, i quite often have to edit drivers section of autoruns - remove ghost driver of old devices and software - which werent properly untiled i do it through Autoruns, problem is that i dont know how to quickly save and restore setting changed by Autoruns, so often in end with Bluescreen in boot process even into Safe mode and i dont know how to fix it.. in other way when restore whole installation backup - and thats is very time consuming. I have Create restore points and after - use Last know working configuration option, but it doesnt working to this sort of crash. Lets assume that i have on same machine some other working windows installation to edit files on partition which in booting after change right know. So working ghost driver remove would be nice too, but i know its complicated..

Yes i purchased R-Loew patch years ago - 1 have 2009 version of it, but.. I did lots very ugly things with my installation - recovered old System/System32 a SystemBck folders and also system ini a got some start missing files error, so i deleted some entries from registry and finally a have managed Windows 98 booting repeatly to normal state and have installed one device, after other, until almost all was working, so i know that GPU, Audio, Net, Chipset are ok.. start freeze came with additional Sil3512A controller driver installation. Its controller im using for my Sata DVD writer, because i really hate IDE cables and as far i remeber Rloew said something about that only 1 of 2 Sata ports is supported and DVD driver is not supported by patch.. But in the pass it worked somehow, how not today i have tried all Bios combination, R-Loew patch etc, but i got only freezes, when DVD driver was connnected to Sata controller on board or on additional card. Was is strange normal Windows mode booting with my MB from Sata port of box in both IDE/Sata controller modes - Compatible and Enhanced..

Hmm so i tested Blackwings drivers and its not working, same error as driver from other package, in other OSes NIC is working.
