Beware of Office 2010 Updates!
heinoganda replied to Dave-H's topic in Pinned Topics regarding Windows XP
I'll stay with Office 2003 with the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack. Then we have Office 2007 complete with updates. Last but not least Office 2010, if I have time then I will also insert the updates in the Updates directory on the Office 2010 disk, then a new installation is very easy and fast. Incidentally, I have the Office 2007 compatibility pack (FileFormatConverters) available in all language versions incl. Sp3 and the latest Undates. The installation takes only seconds with me. If interested, send me a PM. -
I'm assuming a hardware failure, especially as it seems in the middle of the show to an interruption. Windows XP sp3 can not work that bad!

If my computer were so unstable, I'd look for a suitable replacement. Somehow the problem seems familiar when the electrolytic capacitors on the mainboard inflate. Somehow the problem seems familiar when the electrolytic capacitors on the mainboard inflate. It is a known problem to generate sales (higher value components are more expensive). I'm curious if Windows 10, the intervals are getting smaller with the hardware requirement.

Windows XP - Altered the registry incorrectly
heinoganda replied to Flintheart's topic in Windows XP
No, that can not work! Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\POSReady] "Installed"=dword:00000001 -
I have the problem synonymous, because I also have no old computer where the processor does not support SSE2. Had at the following place ever an update list for Windows XP sp3 (no SSE2) published, where in July 2018 ends, and without the update KB4034775 (official support end for older processors without SSE2 from August 2018). With a friend who owns an old AMD Athlon I was able to install these updates and could not find any problems. Maybe this will help by newer Updates, that have problems on processor without SSE2, finding it easier.

It is actually shameful that MS has not published the failed update KB4494528 again. So what I just call a big botch, since actually in the installer file "update_SP3QFE.inf" only a correction must be made!

The .NET Framework updates are internationally applicable and do not require language-dependent updates. When installing the .NET Framework, it is possible to install a language pack as desired. In the previous post (https://msfn.org/board/topic/178377-on-decommissioning-of-update-servers-for-2000-xp-and-vista-as-of-july-2019/?do=findComment&comment=1166316) in the file "Net Framework.txt" are the download links for the language packs included (here I had inadvertently written "Sprachpakete" instead of "language packs" in the description. For example, it installs .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 and then installs the desired .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 language pack (by Sprachpakete). The same with .NET Framework 4. Note: .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 and .NET Framework 4 do not required an English-language language pack.

Have generated the required updates for .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 and 4 based on my lists. .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 Updates .NET Framework 4 Updates Archived at WayBack! Note: After the installation of .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 the Windows XP update KB961118 is needed! Furthermore, I recommend KB971314. This update to resolve an issue where included PCL printer drivers are no longer signed after installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or XPS Essentials Pack on Windows XP. Update History .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 Update History .NET Framework 4 Note: Furthermore, I have created an update rollup (of the required updates/msp files in a HotIron installer summarized!) for the .NET Framework 3.5 sp1, as well as created an update rollup for the .NET Framework 4, where the installation takes much less time. If you are interested, please send me a PM.

I once took care of .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 (offline installer) and 4 Full (offline installer) inlusive language packs. Net Framework.txt All download links are available at the Wayback machines! Incidentally, I can contribute the file "WMEncoder.exe" for German (DEU), unfortunately resting at the moment still on my HDD. At KB951830 it looks very modest too! https://msfn.org/board/topic/178377-on-decommissioning-of-update-servers-for-2000-xp-and-vista-as-of-july-2019/?do=findComment&comment=1166200

@mo832 A sensible solution because of MSE does not exist! That's why I would not kill my OS. I've been working for a very long time with Avast Free Antivirus (only certain modules installed) and MBAM. Small note: Would never come up with the idea to install another virus solution at the same time in an existing virus solution, that can quickly go wrong, especially in the worst case to assume the two virus solutions fight each other.

If there is interest in the update collectors on a corrected KB4494528 (Update for MSI 4.5 from April 2019, the file msi.dll was not registered correctly). Available for all language variants. The updates can be requested from me by PM. More info: https://msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/?do=findComment&comment=1162203 Addition made in the file "update_SP3QFE.inf" in KB4494528: https://msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/?do=findComment&comment=1162245

Currently KB4501226 is no longer available for XP via AU / WU / MU and MS Update Catalog. It is unfathomable if the update was withdrawn because of an error. The download link is still working.

@Mcinwwl Try it with the help of "https://web.archive.org". For this I found a website where the original links of Windows Live Essentials 2009 are available (https://xhavitks.de.tl/Messenger.htm). Now take the desired link, for example from "Download Windows Live Essentials (Messenger) 2009 - Polish (full)" (http://g.live.com/1rewlive3/pl/wlsetup-all.exe). Insert this link into the search of Wayback Machine, I found the best in 2014 (Jun 6). Give the process some time. I've downloaded 41 languages myself, but I have no way to upload them permanently. If anyone has a chance I can upload them, so you can send me a PM.

Of course, I have never used MSE in the regular case because I use Avast Antivirus. But I was looking for the users of MSE for opportunities to keep this up to date. Now it is the case that the current virus definitions for MSE need the engine v1.1.16000.6, which unfortunately does not work anymore under Windows XP. A simple measure to be able to update MSE again, I do not see. For me, the last working definition was v1.293.2807.0.
