  1. Bookworm, Go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Disk Administrator. That is the NT4 disk partitioning utility. Also, where did that blue screen come from? From the updated file or opening Disk Administrator?
  2. Hello everyone, I am looking for some software that is similar to what Techtool does on the Macintosh. I have some PC's that I would like to test the hardware, but cannot find a program that really goes through everything and gives me a good look at how all the hardware is doing. I would like it to be a bootable software package, like Techtool. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  3. Gouki, how are you going about getting your CISSP? Are you going to go to a review seminar, bootcamp, or self study? I'm a college student, and I don't think I can afford a $4500 bootcamp. I want to start with getting CompTIA A+, Security+, and Network+. Then I'll move into the MCSE + Security+, CISSP, CISM, CCNA, CCSP, and the Certified Ethical Hacker. Self-study seems to be the way I am going to go. Any recommendations on books that you've liked? --Leviathan
  4. Awesome site. Thanks for the heads up.
  5. Does MSFN have anyone hanging around with a CISSP? I'm looking to certify and would like to hear about your thoughts about the test, study materials, etc. Any help, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks --Leviathan
  6. OMG.... well, I just felt my geek level drop. It would be even geeker if each monitor was showing a different DVD. --Leviathan
  7. Obi-Wan definately. Now, are they fighting in the Matrix or outside of the Matrix in the "Real World?" Either way for me, Obi-Wan.
  8. Hey, I took a look at the system specifications for the Inspirion 5150 and it says the memory in the unit is 200-pin 2.5v DDR333 ram. It says the 5150 has two memory slots, which can handle up to 512 MB in each slot for a total of 1GB. However, the user guide also says it can handle 2GB of ram, so.... yeah. Mwave has a module for about $44.00 USD made by Crucial. Grab two of those to go to 1GB of ram. However, the system uses 128mb of that RAM for the video card in shared memory. As for the hard drive, I like the Hitachi Travelstar 7200 RPM drives. I have one in a Mac Mini and getting the 100GB for a Powerbook. It should boost the transfer rate for your system. There is a 60, 80, and 100 GB model. The 60 from Mwave.com is running at $132.00 USD. However, these thigns run at 7200 RPM, compared to the 4200 or 5400 RPM that you usually find in notebook hard drives. Since it spins faster, that means it will require more power to run, and it will begin to zap your battery faster. So, for about $230.00 or so with shipping, you can get your notebook up in performance a little bit. You can also look at other memory makers, and other hard drives. Seagate also makes a 7200 RPM drive, plus it has a 5 year warranty when you buy from a Seagate authorized dealer. I use nothing but Seagate desktop drives. However, I like Hitachi for notebook drives. Haven't had a problem yet. Anyone like to sound off against me, be my guest. These are just my recommendations. --Leviathan
  9. Hey Bashrat, I'm having trouble getting this file. [link removed] is showing that 404 Page Not Found Error. Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem. --Leviathan
  10. war59312, Thanks a bunch. You can't believe how much blood, sweat, and tears you saved many of us from. I wouldn't have even thought of trying to extract the files from the packages, until I was in frustration looking at the context menu. I'm going to run some tests on the CD I've made and see what happens. I'm going to make a batch file that allows you to start the install rather than go automatically installign SP2. I'd like to keep some control over the starting process of the install. I would hate to drop it in my computer, wondering what CD it was (bad habit of not writing on the CD's) and getting a SP2 install going. Will post results soon. --Leviathan
  11. war59312, How about the Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool, Windows Journal Viewer, Remote Desktop Client 5.2.3790.0, and the KB836528 - Mydoom, Zindos, And Doomjuice Worm Removal Tool? If you have ideas on these tools, we would appreciate any help you can give on figuring out how to make them silent. --Leviathan
  12. Hey DLF, Just wanted to thank everyone for jumping in and helping out on this. Your help is really appreciated in making this happen. I'm gonna take a look at some of the RunOnceEx stuff and see if I can help make some heads and tails out of it. Hopefully, we can get something out which will take care of the problem. This would be a great help for DLF and is something I'd like to carry around in case I run across a computer than can't get a format applied to it. Thanks again, --Leviathan
