Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues
AndreiLis replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Windows 7
Hello, Andre! I think it is a great result to decrease boot time so significantly, at least this is acceptable for me. Thank you very much!- 1,284 replies

I've run optimization again and now it seems it is much better! Fixes from http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152622-hotfixes-for-faster-windows-7-bootstartup/ weren't installed. Here is the etl: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8643ABC91E5D0AD4!112&authkey=!AIfnquCcKI0r2GI&ithint=file%2c.zip Btw, as I see, now there is no rdbss in the log.- 1,284 replies

3 hotfixes were installed as it was described, etl was generated after installation of all of them (2775511 + 3 updates). So, will try to optimize again. Btw, will it be reasonable to install updates you've meant here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152622-hotfixes-for-faster-windows-7-bootstartup/ ?- 1,284 replies

Hello, Andre! After Enterprise Hotfix Rollup installation it seems it becomes boot faster, at least now I see "Starting Windows" screen during 1 minute instead of 2-2.5. So, PreSMSS stage decreased significantly - 50 sec instead of 137, though other stages' duration grown up. But as I see in logs now PreSMSS stage duration is 50 sec, and Idle takes 90% of it - is this normal? Hello, Andre! Thanks for you reply! Is this the single update? The problem here is that I can't find the link to download it. I've found hotfix description here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2775511, but there is no link to download there. For example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2510636/ contains such link, so it is clear how to download it, while 2775511 doesn't. It seems that KB22775511 is not for home users, so I can't download and install it. Should I install any other updates instead of this?- 1,284 replies

Ok, thanks, will do. Hello, Andre! I have run chkdsk and defragmentation (as it was described here http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140262-how-to-speed-up-boot-process-under-windows-vista-or-windows-7/ except hotfixes installation) and the result is still the same - slow PreSMSS phase. Here is the etl file (with stackwalking): https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8643ABC91E5D0AD4!110&authkey=!AOjnhTraZ_S9a20&ithint=file%2c.zip- 1,284 replies

Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues
AndreiLis replied to MagicAndre1981's topic in Windows 7
Hello After reinstallation Windows 7 x64 on my PC I have found that windows takes too long time to boot (here I mean long time on "Starting Windows" screen, approximately 2.5 min). I have performed steps from 1st post of this topic, and I if I understand right the problem is in PreSMSS stage, here is part of log: <interval name="PreSMSS" startTime="0" endTime="145284" duration="145284"> <perProcess> <perProcessCPUUsage name="Idle" time="74287" percentOfInterval="51.13"> <cpuUsage priority="0" time="74287" cumTime="74287" ofProcess="100.00" ofInterval="51.13" cumOfProcess="100.00"/> </perProcessCPUUsage> So, my question is why Idle process take so much time? Here is link to entire etl file: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8643ABC91E5D0AD4%21107 Thanks in advance!- 1,284 replies
