  1. So I should use your installer (extended kernel).
  2. I would like to install Windows Media Player 10 on Win2K, and I was wondering whether I should use blackwingcat's installer or the official Microsoft installer. Also, is the latest UURollup enough to install wmp10, as it includes the extended kernel files?
  3. I managed to run the program without a warning message thanks to this article: http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/powerpoint-help/change-the-action-settings-of-a-button-picture-or-clip-art-HA010256555.aspx
  4. In a powerpoint presentation I want to enter the firefox exe file (already installed). The file location is: C//:Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe Under the powerpoint settings I have allowed this Firefox folder as a trustworthy folder, and the program works correctly, but before it launches, it says: "Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer. It is important to be certain that this file is from a trustworthy source." The program says it is Microsoft Office, and I can't find anything to help on the web.
  5. I just tried another USB drive, and like the first one, it worked on the first go. But just to try it out, I safely removed the USB Mass Storage Device (in the VM, then I removed it from my host PC. I then tried rebooting my VM, and putting in my USB (I checked off the filter), and it refused to show in My Computer. I tried Disk management, and formatting the disk, but both said "The partition or driver could not be loaded. Please reboot to enable the partition/driver." I rebooted a couple of times, but I got the same message.
  6. In short: USB doesn't show up in my computer? Icon for removing USB device (when right-clicked): Shows an error message over volume icon. It says drivers are not installed for this device.
  7. Hello, I have some problems with USB drivers in a Windows 2000 VM. Specifically, I have enabled USB 2.0 support on my VM, created a filter for my USB device, and once I started up the VM, and plugged in that USB, the "Stop USB Mass Storage Device" icon appears, and I can right click on this icon to "Stop Hardware". When I do, I find that the USB mass storage icon and the disk drive icons are normal, but the volume icon has an error logo over it. I right-clicked on properties and found out that the volume drivers were not installed. Where can I find Windows 2000 volume drivers? PS:I use virtualbox for virtualization.
  8. Hello, I just wanted to say thanks to Tomasz86 and blackwingcat for thier work on Windows 2000 unofficial updates.Without them Windows 2000 would be a dead OS. Even though I personally just use UURollup, blackwingcat made the extended kernel originally, making this all possible. Also, the compatibility in the UURollup Application Compatibility Launcher is amazing. I have Firefox 25.1 working great in Win2k. Even the updater looks like it works. The only thing is that the Firefox icon has a black background around it. I hope thunderbird,iTunes 10/11?, VLC and Libreoffice work too. I've even saw a video of someone on youtube proving Office 2007 to work.
  9. Thanks. I wanted to make sure that I didn't destroy my system again.
  10. Hello, Is it safe to download official Windows Updates when you have the latest daily UURollup installed?
  11. I installed avast! 8.0.1489 and I did a system check. The file c:\WINNT\system32\dllcache\sfc.dll was infected with a Trojan. Does this file have anything to do with UURollup? It won't let me delete or repair it.
  12. I reinstalled Windows 2000, installed SP4, Update Rollup 1 and then I tried installing UURollup (latest daily release). It installed well. As well, I can reboot the VM and it is still working. The error must be related to Blackwingcat's chrome installer file (KB915985v2). Have you ever used chrome in a win2k virtual machine?
  13. Before the virtual OS boots up, it gives a message about some of the audio devices not being found (although I think the speakers work fine). But I don't really care about that. The crashing happens during the BIOS emulation, right before the virtual Windows 2000 should present the login screen.
  14. I'm sorry. I wasn't very clear about this. It says that some of the audio devices from the host PC were not found, before the Windows 2000 VM even starts to boot up.
  15. After installing UURollup and rebooting my Virtual Machine, I downloaded the file required for blackwingcat's Chrome installer (KB915985v2) and the installer worked. Then, I had to reboot my VM, and once I get to the windows 2000 starting up screen (says powered by extended kernel) and the startup bar (with the now black squares) fills up, my virtual machine crashes. It does say that some audio devices were not found, but even when I disable audio, the VM will still crash. Booting up/restarting the host PC does nothing. By the way I am using Oracle VM Virtualbox as my virtualizer.
  16. Thanks. I did what you said and it installed perfectly. Now, I can use the UURollup packages, and Blackwingcat's Chrome tool to install many XP+ programs, like Firefox, Chrome, VLC, Libreoffice and more. (latest versions)
  17. Thanks. Tomorrow I will start up my VM and try this. It's getting late where I live.
  18. Hello, I have recently created a Windows 2000 virtual machine and after getting SP4 and UR1, I downloaded Update Rollup 2 and the latest UURollup, 2013-11-15. I installed UR2 well, and extracted the new UUrollup 7z file, but when I went to update, and started the app, it said something like: "The application extension shell32.dll is in use by another program. Close all programs and try again." No programs were open, and I had 2 options, retry and cancel. The same message popped up if I hit retry, and if I hit cancel, the installer stayed present, but for like 2 seconds. Then the program said it couldn't install.
  19. Thank you for your suggestions. I did not install a graphics driver, though I verified my KernelEx installation. I solved the problem on my own though. I did not realize before that my whole VM was running in 256 colors. Now it is true color and I have Opera 11.64 working decently.
  20. Thanks. I tried installing SeaMonkey 1.1.19 as my alternative browser instead. While it works fine, it runs somewhat slow. So I tried installing Seamonkey 2.0.14, which should work fine on windows 98/ME with KernelEx. But, it did the same thing as Opera & Firefox (the color mode). Now that I come to think of it, Openoffice.org 3.1.1 has a few spots where there is a strange color change, but aside from that, it runs fine.
  21. Hello, Recently I have created a Windows 98SE virtual machine. After finally getting it on the internet, I downloaded some apps, including IE6 and Opera 10.10, which is compatible with Windows 98. However, Opera crashed on the KernelEx website, so I couldn't download KernelEx from there. IE6 wouldn't download it either. I tried upgrading to Opera 10.50, which for some strange reason was running in a 256 color mode.Although I could download KernelEx with it, once I installed KernelEx, Opera 10.5 was set to Windows 2000 SP4 compatibility mode, which is necessary. It wasn't working in W2K compatibility either. I updated my msimg32.dll, tried every compatibility mode but Windows 95 (Opera 10.10 probably won't run in W95), and also tried Firefox 3.6.28, 10.0, and Opera 11.64. Still nothing. Openoffice.org 3.1.1 under KernelEx seems to work fine. Also, Windows 98 has no 256 color mode.
